Fun fact: the movie was supposed to end with Average Joe’s losing the dodgeball tournament. The director, and other filmmakers as well as Vince Vaughn liked the idea of them losing because that shows real life where sometimes you don’t always win. However when they did a preview showing the audience hated it. So they went back and added the Double Fault with White stepping over the line. Which I agree with the audience. A movie is supposed to be the escape from reality where good does triumph over evil and the there is the happy ending.
@@azazello1784 I just said why I dont like bad endings. Yes, I avoid tragedies when i know that the end is depressing, if you like it, watch it! So Gary Cole, the actor who played the announcer Cotton McKnight opposite Jason Bateman's Pepper Brooks, Nick has seen at least once. He played Bill Lumberg, the uber douche nozzle boss in Office Space.
Old School also fits the same type of comedy feels as Dodgeball. Those early 2000 comedies are classics. This movie was so popular that it eventually gave birth to ESPN becoming ESPN8 The Ocho for 4 days out of the year showing really obscure sports from around the world. They started it in 2017 and have been doing it every year since. I love how Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor are married and they have to act like they do in this movie. In Tropic Thunder, she makes an appearance as a stable girl when they talk about his role in Simple Jack on the news. Funny post-credit edit they missed in this movie. Look at White Goodmans' G on his necklace at 22:16. It's just floating... Left announcer was the boss in Office Space. The joke is that Chuck Norris always does a thumbs up.
Gary Cole shows up in a lot of movies, he plays Ricky Bobby’s dad and he plays a secret service agent in the Line of Fire with Clint Eastwood. If you haven’t seen that one I highly recommend watching it. The acting and plot are phenomenal.
20th Century music Fanfare theme composer is Alfred Newman. He was head of Fox music section from the 1930's onward. He has won multiple Oscars in his career and today if you see a film composer with the last name Newman there is a great chance they are related. I know Randy and Thomas Newman are for sure.
He composed it first in 1933, and it was used (a longer version was introduced in the 1950s) until the early 70s, by which time it had been phased out. Interestingly, George Lucas liked it, and insisted that he be allowed to put it at the start of Star Wars in 1977. John Williams even wrote the SW intro music in the same key, so it sounded like the Fox fanfare blended into the SW theme music, and the Fox fanfare continued to be used until Disney bought them a few years ago.

I think that Jason Bateman stole the show in his small part. His lines are some of the most quoted I've heard from people when talking about the movie.
The actress Christine Taylor who plays the Bank employee/lawyer & teammate with Vince Vaughn in Average Joe's team she's Married to Ben Stiller in real life since 2000 so in this movie they playing against each other until they got divorced in 2017

I heard the original ending was where Joe's lost the final, but the studio wanted a happy ending. So the director decided to go super hard on the happy ending: They win, gets the money, gets the girl, gets both gyms, and Goodman loses everything.

0:58 - The 20th Century Fox Fanfare was originally composed in 1933 by Alfred Newman. The extension (0:59) was added in 1954 so that it would also play over the CinemaScope logo. George Lucas used the extended version in the Star Wars movies so he could pull the same trick with the Lucasfilm logo. 2:33 - The first two are clearly supposed to be. The third (Rule of Threes) is a Julia Roberts movie which is basically the female version of Dead Poet's Society. 18:49 - Nick: Having a pro help them can't hurt. Patches: 19:25 24:48 - After the end of Knight Rider and Baywatch, David Hasselhoff's popularity in the US took a dive. However, he started a career as a singer, and though he didn't make it in the US, his albums were a phenomenal hit in Germany. This shift in success became something of a meme at the time, and this moment in this movie reflects that. 27:33 - Gettin' berated by The Hoff!!
Everything after 33:42 is the new ending. Originally, Globo Gym won (keeping in line with actual underdog stories where the underdogs tend to come up short). But test audiences absolutely hated it so they ended up changing everything to be completely unrealistic.
So many many times guessing wrong what will happen. I like that, when they veer off the cliche expected course. Too bad as said by the antagonist at the end, it ends as predictable as they do.

(Apparently an English missionary thought it looked like a great sport 🤦♂, so he created a tamer version for students to play when he returned home.)

I can't believe he asked that question during a movie this silly lol.
Horrible bosses is a must watch you guys ❤
Peter really was just coasting thru life... seemed like he inherited his house, car, and the gym. If the movie hadnt happened, he wouldve lost them all and been homeless most likely😂😂😂
More comedy - more Stiller! A criminally underrated Ben Stiller movie is Mystery Men - it's hilarious and hardly anyone seems to know about it! And, for more Jason Bateman, watch Game Night.
I haven't seen a singe reactor react to Bad Words, my absolute favorite Jason Bateman movie. If you haven't seen it, I would highly recommend it.
If you liked Stiller as White Goodman, then you should check out Heavyweights. Most who have seen both consider Dodgeball a sequel to the character Stiller played in Heavyweights.
Great reaction thanks!
See Jason Bateman in Hancock (2008).
23:06 - He's giving me Marv vibes, as in Marv from Home Alone and Home Alone 2. Hell, if they want to try and reboot that franchise completely and redo the first movie, here's your Marv! (not saying I recommend it or want it, but he fits the bill in my mind)
Katherine Peter’s love interest is actually Ben stiller’s wife 😂
