    I almost always wrap or use boots. I figure better safe than sorry and since I know how to put them on right it can't hurt them. You never know when something might happen to spook a horse and they could take a wrong step so why not take the extra time to put in that extra line of defense against injury :)

      Same👍 always have boots on for the exact reasons! They deserve to have protection if they need it and should be worn whenever possible. I always have boots on mine as you have nothing to loose :)

    Thanks it’s been a few years since I’ve reviewed boots and decided to try jumping lately so figured I should brush up on my boot skills because my boy is pretty clumsy with his feet sometimes

    Hi Callie,
    Thanks for putting this out.
    I am learning stable management for a test. This really explains very well as to what the boots do and I really appreciate it!
    Cheers, J.

    This video was very helpful! I got some boots from a giveaway at My Pony Club, and I never used them because I was scared I was going to use them for the wrong thing, but now I know what they are used for, I will use them a lot more.

    I use boots on an as needed basis ..it's all dependent on the way that horse moves and /or whether or not it's beneficial. Right now I'm training my FJord to 'find her feet' over small crossrails and don't use anything. I'd like her to feel the rails so she learns how and when to pick up her feet -hoping that happens soon LOL. I think if it's endurance and rough terrain with 'fixed' hard jumps it's only fair to use the sports boots :) Great vid

    Very helpful! I just started leasing a Friesian and the inside of her backlegs are all knicked up. Just wanted to make sure I am putting the boots on properly. I am not sure yet what is causing the knicks.
    I'm sure i will be watching a lot of your videos! Thanks!

      The boots I'm using now are the sport boots. I ride dressage but basically just lunging now bc she hasn't been riden in 3 years. :)

    What would you recommend out of these types for a 1) picky horse and 2) western rider? I'm about to start teaching my horse to spin, so which would be best?

    • @amandaarmistead8290
      @amandaarmistead8290 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Kailey Fox for barrel racing we use the sport boots combined with bell boots for extra protection around the fetlock and ligaments. I’ve never met someone who does spinning but I assume it’s “rigorous” like barrel racing.

    Is it safe to gallop / canter long distances using open front boots?

  • @audreyweinstein9435

    My instructor says that I'm putting the open front boots on backwards, but I think I put them on like you said. I don't really get what I'm doing wrong.

    Plastic shoes covering the hoof seem to be used in many places nowadays, do you use them and what are their benefits, if any?

    • @paigepresnell5795
      @paigepresnell5795 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Do you mean hoof boots? Cause they are wonderful! My mare loves hers we use cavallo trek hoof boots for her fronts and she wears them over rough terrain, parades, turn out boots if I need to keep her hooves clean you can safely preform all typical gaits walk trot running walk and gallop are all safe when properly fitted you can jump in them as well
