Love that you are talking about Perun! My best friend is Slavic and I told him and his son about Perun and they were proud that their people had a God of their own. They never knew they had such ancient history.
I've been reading about them since I became interesting in Russia and the history and culture a few months back, even learning Russian. They have a very rich history and culture. I love it. Their traditions kind of remind me of my own family...though I'm not sure I have a drop of Slavic blood in me.
Fun fact: It was also believed in the Balkans that the Housekeeper plant (I'm not sure if that's the accurate name in English), in Serbian it's called Čuvarkuća, was actually Perun's plant and that if you put it on top of your roof, it will protect your house from thunder.
Really cool video! I like that you connected the Slavic and Baltic beliefs, because these people share a common ancestry. I think that more is known about the Baltic pagan beliefs, because of the Teutonic Crusades against the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. There could be more written records and, because those tho pantheons are very similar, they could be very useful. Yes, the pagan traditions still live. I know that as a Serb. This isn't an isolated case. Just se the Mexican festivals or other Slavic countries. They have not forgotten the traditions of their pagan ancestors. They have just ''modified'' them. I have heard, that an very ancient word for ''thunder'' of ''lighting'' in the Greek language is ''perunos''. Is it true or not, that I do not know, but it would be a nice coincidence. Maybe you could make a video of Veles, the Loki of Slavic mythology. You did it for the ''god guy'', why not for the ''bad one''? Another idea, that seams nice to me, would be to make a video about the pagan traditions who have survived and adapted in Slavic countries to this day. Once more, super video and nice shirt with the Slavic patterns!
So I feel there's a missing piece where is Hermes Trismegistus. He's not Veles, because he is god of the underworld so therefore he is Hades. So I know Bulgaria all the way to France was Hades domain
Let me know what you think and what else you would like to see!
I think it's a great shame that our ancestors succumbed to Christianity.
Would love a vid about the Frisian god Fosite
In polish lightning bolt = piorun, which probably originates from perun.
I generally just enjoy your content and the way you present your info. Anything YOU care about would be entertaining and interesting to watch imo.

Woohoo! Been looking forward to this one for a while.
It's really weird that every culture has a their version of thunder god
Actually makes complete sense, imagine if you had no modern knowledge of how thunder works. It literally appears as magic.
that because its real
@@kettlebells-ez9xiyeah , Book of Enoch , could explain a lot of these mythos deities
And most of the planet worships one..

I believe Veles is Fenrisúlfr whom is Hades Brother of Zeus who is Tyr.
Goood to know 👌
I´m not sure it´s the oak tree. More like the Taxus baccata ( Yew ), it´s evergreen and fits the tree of life and death mythology.
What about the lion myth?
Where are you from?
❤
australian guy
god of ppt
