June Whitfield was so talented, I love the beginning when she is describing the characters and calls the wife a"sexy piece", great download, loved listening to it again, thank you
Best Miss Marple ever. True to the character in the books. True to an intelligent lady born in Victorian times. Her voice, timing, accent, intonation -- just right.
Pocket full of rye was the very first book of AC that I ever read. It has so many twists and turns that I just couldn’t guess the murderer. It started my love of this author. That was 40 years ago, followed miss marble and poirot solve the mysteries in very different ways. From books, tv and I now enjoy listening to these readings, often listening to the same ones again. .
When I was a child in the fifties and sixties, almost everyone used the expression “dickiebird”. I just think it was a sort of nickname that you told to children, when they were learning to speak. Maybe like “pussy cat” or “choo-choo train”. It definitely wasn’t PC! There was no such thing in those days. Casual racism was the norm and very unpleasant too. Agatha Christie used a very pejorative name for one of her novels, ‘And Then There Were None’ (the modern title). You can look that one up, folks, it doesn’t bear writing down. PC is a kinder way to behave towards other people, and makes for a nicer place to live if you aren’t the ‘norm’ in other people’s eyes. Having said all that, Agatha Christie is a constant favourite for me - I have one of her novels on the go almost permanently. 😊
So, you have a channel devoted to fine drama but you have maybe the worst AI voice intro I’ve ever heard?? Come on! The episode was great, but do yourself a favor and ditch that horrific AI intro
Sorry completely lost afther listening to some of Dorethy l sayer audio dramas must say i found it differcult to figure out the plot of some of her stories.
It's a traditional name taken from the village of the same name. It means valley of the ram. I believe that Nyugen means a string instrument that is plucked, perhaps amusing to some...
@justin...you appear, whatever your chronological age, to be stuck as a 12 year old loner, spots and all. Ramsbottom is also the name of a market town in the UK.
@@saintexupery8406 did I run into a whole clan of Ramsbottoms or something? 🤔Why do I keep getting random defensive messages that either get deleted or edited over a throwaway joke I made months ago?

June Whitfield, a truly great actress, wonderful comic timing, highly intelligent and very kind.
One of my favourite actresses❤️❤️❤️❤️💙💙
Thanks for this!
Incredibly annoying preamble but the production itself is good.

Really? I guess we are all different because I liked it.
Well done! Thanks!
The most moving of Christie's works
🏴🍻🍻🍻don’t know how many times 😊how ?Miss Marple 😋
Great improvement if you dropped the laborious intro .. redundant !
Very enjoyable. Thanks for sharing this!
I miss her
Boring as hell introduction from Stephen Hawking...programme starts 3:00
Sure was thank you for your booking the start time.
Brilliant
Why the preamble? We don’t need to have the plot rolled out in advance. And your opinion is also superfluous.
Very good after the really annoying introduction.
Great story,
good work.
Begins at 2:59
excellent female narrator !!
Horrible robot voice introduction. It gives away too much.
Enjoyed it immensely!
ax😂😊😂❤❤😊
Was this being PC? It’s not a dickie bird, it’s a blackbird 😂😂😂

Thanks.
I really dont like the introduction, it detracts from a great play.
I skipped it
Why ruin everything by telling us what is going to happen- stop talking!!!
The intro is obviously not a human....better to have left it off altogether.
Lose the robot voice and this would be perfect....
The robot is the intro...just figure out how to (get a grandchild to help) skip over it.
@@saintexupery8406 this made me laugh so much. I think you win the internet today 😊
@saintexupery8406😂I did
They made a mistake.
They had that poor silly
girl exclaiming that her
boss was dying but he
didn't die at home...he died
at his office/work. 😐
Intro by AI Steven Toast!
Spoiler alert..introduction spoiled tale
Only if you forced yourself to listen to a section you disliked. Others who also disliked the intro were clever enough to skip over it.
@@saintexupery8406 thanks 🐛 🪲 🐞

Miss "Ramsbottom"
@@mavisemberson8737 thanks for the etymology lesson, but I'll have a bottom-ramming laugh all the same
