Fighting For Yellow In Megève! | Tour De France 2022 Stage 10 Highlights

  • The race picks up from where it left off in week one, tackling more of the smaller Alpine climbs. Stage 10 features a lot less climbing than stage 9, just 2,433m, but this is no day for the sprinters. Instead, the 21km-long drag up to the finish at the Megève airport - which averages 4.1% - makes this a day for the climbers.

Every nation deals with such events differently. I leave it to the local law enforcement to deal with that stuff. Personally I think they could have done it more productively. The tour always gives great coverage to those who create artistic pieces in support of the tour. I think they could have done something that supports the event while also promoting their message of climate change. Get the positive coverage without disturbing the race.

These protesters just wanted to grab everyone's attention and the Tour format makes the task a lot easier for people like them. It is worth mentioning that even though they are "only" riding bikes, the event has hundreds of support vehicles that run on fossil fuels, thus the event is far from having a neutral carbon footprint. Perhaps this issue is something for the organisers to take look at in the next coming years by switching all the support vehicles for fully electric vehicles, but it would definitely demand a huge infrastructure to charge these vehicles in every small city where stages start and/or finish, making it thus unfeasible in the short term. It's also worth mentioning that the Formula 1 aims to reach neutral carbon emission by 2030 and already reduced their carbon footprint very significantly.

If there was an award for Most Irritating Little Sh** Of The Day then it has to go to Tadej Pogacar. Having denied Kamna of victory at Super Planche by a few seconds he needlessly races at high speed to deny him a Yellow Jersey that he can easily reclaim. Left a sour taste in my mouth.

Pogačar nor any other rider at the pelotón is thinking of gifting any specific rider, it makes no sense! UAE wanted to lose the yellow today, but the other team accelerated the pelotón at the end of the last climb. Given that he was gonna keep the yellow anyway, he tried to gain a handful of seconds over his rivals in the battle for the GC.
