As a Kobe fan we have the worst debaters representing us at every turn. Lo is wining the argument while being on the losing side.
I think you gotta realize that he's not on the losing side and that's why everyone's getting in their feelings and coming up with awful debate points and rebuttals. To act like how Jokic is playing offensively isn't all-time great is honestly foolish. No one's saying he's a better player than Kobe overall and everyone seems to constantly be forgetting that. 08 - 10 are his best offensive seasons overall. 3 finals appearances, 2 chips, only player in history with 3 str8 600+ point playoff runs. 05 - 07 he was more dynamic but 08 - 10 were just masterclass with buzzer beaters, and thirty point streaks in the playoffs. Kobe at his mental and physical peak.

Playmaking involves having the ability to break down a defense to create a shot for either yourself or your teammate; or the ability to create something (a play) out of nothing. Kobe is as good as doin that as anyone in NBA history and Jokic is too.
Jokic clears Kobe when it comes to passing but Kobe Clears Jokic when it comes to scoring.
Now IMO elite scoring is more valuable than elite passing. Cuz at the end of the day basketball is about a bucket. If you were a GM you could more easily find/develop someone into becoming a great passer. As opposed to finding someone who can score at every level to which the defense has no answer for. Kobe is the better player offensively, we shouldn’t even be having this discussion 😂.

Idk about that because with elite passing, decision making and play making you could make an average offense a lot better. Compared to an elite scorer yea it's tough to stop but now the defense only has to key on that one player the offense is still garbage outside of them.

Kobe is the greatest difficult shot-maker of all time. He is an elite offense individually. Jokic is a historically efficient scorer and an elite playmaker and a Top 5 passer at that. Those two combined, he elevates the team's offense way better than Kobe. Basketball is 5v5 and Jokic is an offense where the other 4 players actually enjoy playing ball with him. To me, that puts Jokic over Kobe, offensively.
I’d encourage y’all to read my other replies in the comment section if y’all can find it (I know there’s a lot of comments on this vid). I go in detail about how dominant Kobe was from 06-10. As time goes we forget the context and forget how truly dominant he was offensively.
We’ve seen Kobe’s offense ability (an underrated playmaker and one of the greatest scores in NBA history) be a catalyst to 1) 3 straight Finals in the tuff West 2)Winning b-2-b chips and 3)b-2-b Finals MVP’s…. If that’s not elevating you team I don’t know what is.

Well Jokic is a much more willing passer so I don't event think he'd mind. If he had Kobe he'd be settin him up all game lmao. But I don't think it would be so one-sided. I mean when you have a guy averaging a 25 point triple double it's hard to just say nah we're just gonna run everything through the guy that scores better. If Shaq could pass like Jokic could you imagine how much more terrifying that team would have been? It would actually make more sense to run through Jokic, since then Kobe can be fully maximized on offense. Kobe would score more for sure, but in terms of maximizing the ability of everyone around them Jokic is one of the best ever.

We are comparing a perimeter player who played his prime in a defensive era - while Joker is playing today. Not hating on Joker the guy is freaking amazing truly amazing - but the freedom Jokic is playing with us crazy. Constant space - if he gets doubles he has the ability to find the open man like crazy - but if he gets doubled his teammates become so wide open. Kobe never had the freedom and spacing Joker is working with ever.
There were no significant defensive changes in the league since 2005, when hand-checking was completely removed. So Kobe's peak came after the Deadball era. The major difference is how fouls are called and spacing since player talent is at its peak overall. Plus Jokic doesn't get foul calls, he actually gets significantly less free throws than Kobe did and Jokic plays physically. The only difference is spacing, but Kobe had better top tier talent around him then Jokic does.

Either way yes 2005 changes but as we’ve seen there was a big boost immediately following those changes but even say 2006 the game still wasn’t what it is today. It slowly opened up more and more and now the game today would almost look like a different sport compared to 2006. Kobe never had the freedom and as you said the spacing Jokic does. If prime Kobe was given the spacing todays guys get with how the game is played now geez man there’s no telling what he might have done
@@farhansarkar2394 I guess what I’m saying is even though sort of the last of the main changes happened 2005 rule changes don’t necessarily have their full impact immediately. 3 point line introduced for example - 1980 but it took some time for teams and players to really begin to utilise it and even that way fairly minimal and certainly far less than today. Kobe had near most of the rule changes that happened during his career around halfway through his career - Joker’s rookie season was 2016 when teams were already operating with crazy spacing and a tonne of 3 point shooting. That’s all. Certainly not trying to take away anything from Joker yes he has all the advantages of the modern game but he is amazing and having really a ducking unbelievable season this year

Much like it could be said that LeBron had Kyrie in 2016 or AD in 2020 (and is true that he couldn't have won without them), but as he was better than them, if we were specifically discussing Kyrie or AD's legacies then it'd be more accurate to say they got rings because they "had LeBron."
The point was thAT Jokic didn't win like Kobe, but Jokic never had an all time great like Kobe did either. If you gave Jokic Giannis, or even Tatum I think it would be hard to argue that he wouldn't be a champ.

1)What affect did Kobe’s best offensive seasons have on winning/team success?
05-06 Season- Kobe was playing on a G league roster. Most of the players were out of the league after a year or two. With Kobe off the floor that season the Lakers not only had the worse ORtg (92.4) in the NBA but they had the 3rd worse in the NBA history. However with Kobe on the floor it rose (+ 18.9 to 111.3 and top 8 offense in the league)
•That season a 60 win Maverick team was a 4 seed in the West. So Kobe drug one of the worse offensive teams in NBA history and below average defensive teams (11th worse defensive rating that season) to a 7 seed in the tuff West (00’s/early 10s West is tuffest conference in NBA history)…. He also outscored this same 60 win Mavs team (that also went on to win the West) by himself through 3 quarters
•had 2nd highest scoring game by any player in NBA history (81)
•Kobe avg 35 in 06 which was the 5 slowest pace season ever at 90.5 Pace… not to mention the early/mid 2000s was also the toughest defensive era in NBA history
•avg 43.4 PPG the whole month of January (take away that 81 point game and he still avg 40.2 PPG)
•From December 2005 to February 2006 Kobe avg 40 PPG… the last 9 games he avg 41.8 PPG on 61.8 TS%
•That season he had 27 40+ points game which is more than what Dirk, Pierce, Moses Malone, etc. who are amongst some of the greatest scorers in NBA history had in their entire careers
•Also had 6 50+ pt games which is more than Hakeem, Duncan, Pierce, Clyde Drexler, and Reggie Miller had in their entire careers combined
•had 2 60 + point games which at the time was the only player since MJ (86-87)to have multiple 60 point games in the same season
06-07 season- Y’all remember last season social media was goin crazy with players having 50+ point games on what seemed like a nightly basis at one point. For perspective Bron (one of the top players/scorers of all time) had his 14th career 50 pt game last season. Well Kobe (06-07) had 10 50+pt games in one season and 4 straight 50 point games (65,50,60, 50)…
What affect did that have on the team’s success? Well prior to this 4 game stretch the Lakers were on a 7 game losing streak, (including 2 back-to back losses by 36 and 27 pts) getting close too a .500 record and in danger of missing the playoffs in the tuff West. Kobe went in that “mamba” mode and had the 4 straight games of 50+ point and 5 straight 40+ games. The Lakers won all 5 games and absolutely needed every point Kobe scored cuz every they won by single digits. So Kobe again drug a bad team to the playoffs in the tuff West. This was also again another historically great offensive season we prolly won’t eva witness again.
Kobe was again all time historic offensively from 08-10.
For perspective Kobe beat more 50 win teams in the West playoffs in this 3 year stretch than Magic did his entire career. In the playoffs During this 3 year stretch Kobe offensively avg 30.3 PPG, 5.5 RPG, and 5.6 APG in the West. And if you look at the WCF in this stretch Kobe gentleman’s swept the defending champ Spurs 08’, beat a prime Melo led Nuggets 09’ (Kobe avg 34) and the Powerhouse Suns led by 2 time MVP Nash and Stoudemire in 10’. Kobe in the WCF in this 3 year stretch avg 32.5 PPG, 6.2 RPG, and 6.1 APG on near 50-40-90 shooting splits. Absolutely insane 😂
•Kobe from 08-10 also has the most points in the playoffs for a 3 year stretch-1,999 pts (56.9 TS%/46.4 FG%) than any player in NBA history (08-10)… How much affect did all this have on team success?
