- The call to holiness can feel like an overwhelming challenge. In fact it can seem downright impossible. But in spite of our brokenness, sinfulness and littleness God keeps calling us to "walk on the water" with Him.
Today Fr. Mike contrasts our "mercenary heart" - which so easily is swayed to pursue the pleasures of the world which draws our gaze away from Jesus - with the "Merciful Heart of Jesus" that seeks to draw us to Himself.

Quran says Allah is “Al-Ahad”(one/indivisible).Deductively, It is impossible for perfection to have parts. Not just the Quran(preserved), but also the old/new testament(not preserved) textually scream oneness of Allah. So, then why believe in trinity and associate two imaginary parts to Allah(one/indivisible/self-sufficient/all-loving)?How could your love/worship be undivided/exclusive only for Allah(the most Exalted) when there are two other equally unique/perfect entities? If three entities are distinct and co-equal/co-eternal, then How do you define “Trinity” as one/undivided (“Al Ahad”)?
God is so far beyond what we consider "Nobel" but it's absolutely beautiful to recognize each other's contemplations as our creator manifests in all our lives

When I hear you speak of your Sundays when you don't get to spend as much time in solitary prayer as you'd like, I think of my life as a first responder and how I recently struggled with my need to do more for a deceased person. I was counseled that God has gifted me with a certain, uncommon strength and mission to serve, that what I sacrifice of myself serves God's purpose and is of great value to the people I serve. To my eyes, all the service you do for parishioners is also a great service to God's purpose and a special kind of prayer that few men are capable of.

Fr. Mike, we all know the Christian life is NOT for the faint of heart. We know from the outset we won't do it perfectly. We trip up; fall a lot. But the faithful get up, just like Jesus did on the way to Golgotha, and get back to it until our mission on this earth is complete, just like He did. People like you, Fr. Mike, are the St. Veronicas in the crowd, helping us along the way at your own sacrifice. You don't sugar coat it: You tell it like it is, but with kindness and real caring, and that means more than words can say. So please, don't be discouraged by those who may misinterpret your enthusiasm and desire to lead us on the right path. I've no doubt the light will dawn on them, through the grace of the Holy Spirit and incession of the prayers that I, and I'm sure many others here, will be offering for them. We're only human. It's never going to be perfect. Perfection is a pipe dream. When we know we're not giving as much as we probably should, it's ok. We make up for it so it doesn't become a habit. Jesus, loves us. Including our less than perfect selves.

Boy, oh boy, this was hard today!!!!
My patience is thin, little white lies for no real reason, can't let go of past anger at family (just to name a few) are all things I should be able to correct. However, I keep doing the same over and over!
I feel so inadequate, I feel that my prayers are not enough. When I make time to sit in church with Jesus I don't know what to say or how to say it. So instead of babbling...I just pray. I really don't know how to spend quiet time with Jesus. There's so much to say here but not enough time to say it.
I wish there was a note that came in the mail from God each day. A report card of sorts. Explaining where I was good and where I need improvement. I realize there would be many red marks on my card, however, I would know and understand what to do different. I'm afraid of getting to the end of life and then it's to late to make corrections.

It does at times, most times, seem impossible. I find myself asking how, how on earth will I be acceptable into heaven. It’s so so disheartening. I HAVE to trust he will meet me where I am and Grace me with his mercy, cuz that’s all I got. I try and try, I listen to BIAY and CIY and honestly it sometimes makes me even more discouraged, so yeah, this is helpful. Very helpful.

Fr. Mike, I have to share that for a while I had to step away from watching your videos I love everything you share with us, but I found myself feeling sad and discouraged after listening to you. Although I go to daily mass and do make Jesus the center of my life, I felt like I could never be “good enough”. I clicked on this video with true fear of what I would feel afterwards but actually found myself in tears feeling more encouraged than ever. All I can say is thank you for posting this. If nothing else, one heart received our Lords love in a very special way today. Thank you and may God continue to bless the work you do.

I try to have a regular prayer life, do the right things, not get distracted by the world......but i constantly fail. i am counting on the mercy of God to not hear, "depart from me....".

Father Mike, you are always inspiring. Thank you for all your teachings. Although your busy schedules on Sunday deprive you of your quiet time with the Lord, your love for people must please the Lord a lot. Whether you realize it or not, I think as a good shepherd, you "pray" your prayers with your action. That inspires me that even if I am busy, I could try my best to practice the Presence of the Lord by inviting him into the details of my life. That way even if I could not set apart time for formal prayer, I may still think of Him, tell Him about my needs, my concerns, and let the Lord know that I love Him. Thank you for the inspiration.

I struggle with scrupulosity, but I'm heartened by something a wise priest said to me: "It's not just a self-perfection project. It's about following Jesus so we can love God and others better." For me, the key is getting my eyes off myself and onto others.
