I have loved camping at the Reelfoot Lake SP south campground to photograph the spring warbler migration. I wasn't sure where to go at first and I tried several locations. Most of them were good but the best places were inside the campground itself. I was able to photograph several species that I had not found at Cross Creeks NWR 130 miles to the east at Dover, TN. By the same token, I got many species at CC that I didn't see at Reelfoot. Coming back to Reelfoot for the fall migration was a different story. The cypress trees were a beautiful golden color and the sunsets were magnificent. But, I didn't see as many different types of birds and most of them stayed toward the tops of the tall cypress. Still, it was worth it and I wish I could do it again. I loved the area around the lake, too. The Lakeview restaurant was usually a late stop after a couple of hours of photographing at first light. They had an excellent breakfast and a fantastic lunch. Tiptonville had a grocery story and gas station where we shopped and met a lot of friendly people. The whole Reelfoot experience was just so relaxing and rewarding with the number of bird photographs we got.
