    The ending of this episode made me burst out into tears because Kamala is thrown back into 1947 when the partition of India happened and Pakistan formed. I am a Punjabi and my family was separated by the partition and still almost 80 years later, we are connecting back with long lost loved ones. That scene wears heavy on my heart because there you can see the effects the British rule had on our country before it was split. I am so happy that you two are reacting to this series, it truly makes me feel seen as a young South Asian female who had a very similar personality and upbringing as Kamala's. I urge you both to read more about the 1947 Partition as that is a theme that we keep coming back to.

Lot of the accent in it is Indian especially those who speak English except for the grandmother Samina Ahmed, she be rocking as Nani here and so is Mehwish Hayat as Aisha. To my Pakistani self, the last scene was… so horrifying.
    Trains were the only way to cross borders back then. If you missed the trains, you had to walk.
    And then there’s the Blood Trains. Trains that were received at stations just filled with bodies, not a soul still alive because they’d be hijacked midway and bandits would slaughter everyone. Scores of Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs died.
    Jay, my friend, be careful with yourself while reading on the history of Partition. It’s bloody and heartbreaking.

    I have to side with Adam on the suits. I like having an origin story flesh out how our characters go from street level vigilantes with bargain rack costumes to fully kitted and outfitted heroes. It's a way to illustrate character growth, from being a person just doing what they think is right, to becoming a heroic symbol. I love Kamala's suit progression and how her heritage is influencing her design while maintaining her Captain Marvel inspiration. I also loved that Matt's suit didn't become a thing until he needed one, and the design was influenced by the moniker given to him by the public. Kamala's suit is being realized through inspiration and self discovery and Matt's is a symbol born out of necessity.

    Gotta love a predestination paradox. The "trail of stars" Kamala's grandmother followed to the train will almost definitely be actively created by Kamala herself. Also, the DODC Supermax facility was 100% the same one from the She Hulk trailer

    • @TDhexada

      I THINK THE SAME. AS SOON AS SHE GOT SENT BACK. i believe her grandmother will be revealed to be murdered or got back to Noor or something.. and Kamala will be the one making the trail of stars because the more you watch the scene of Partition people around are looking at her and avoiding her and even bumping into her.. so she genuinely time traveled.

    I think we're getting an Ant-Man cameo, or Ant-Man will be her first Avenger based crossover (even before the Marvels). Too many Ant-Man references in this show.. the train station poster, the podcast in episode 1, the "why would you have Ant-Man powers" discussion... I think it's too frequent to be coincidental. Keep in mind that ClanDestine, Aisha & Kamala are not literal Djinn. Like Kamran's mom Najma said in episode 3, they were called many names, the common one being Djinn (which Kamala interpreted literally). But in this episode, Waleed clarifies that they're not the Djinn of history or religion, adding that if Thor had been exiled to Asia back then he too would've been referred to by the locals as a Djinn. So with them not being literal Djinn, they could still be Kree/Inhumans.

    The Doctor Who episode Adam was talking about (Demons of the Punjab) wasn't actually a two-parter. Jodie's run only actually had two two-parters, Spyfall Part 1 & 2 at the beginning of series 12 and Ascension of the Cybermen and The Timeless Children at the end of series 12 (Although that could be considered a three-parter as it directly followed on from The Haunting of Villa Diodati). It's also worth saying that I know way too much about Doctor Who and not enough about being a functioning member of society.

    I think next episode is going to be 100% in the past, if not almost 100% in the past. I think it works to wrap up the connection with her great grandma and could very well be how she ends up with both bracelets, which she then uses to come back to modern time and stop what sounded like an "Incursion" as they described it in MOM. It's not the same as Ego's seed taking over a planet, but more like opening the dimensional rift to the dark dimension, which is directly what they used for MOM. I feel like this might get even crazier than anyone anticipated, and I want so badly for Wong to show up at the end just collecting people with unique powers like he did with Shang-Chi. Don't think that will be it, but would be very funny.

Her power comes from within her, not the bangle. The bangle turned something on inside of her, remember?

  • @Bareego
    @Bareego 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The partition is a period of a lot of pain for many. A lot of people died and had to leave their homes behind and move to another place. It's good to remember though how this partition came to be. Gandhi tried his best to keep India together, it was the rising Muslim separatist movement that eventually caused this split.

    I want you two to go on Amazing Race. We all know Adam eats nothing but grilled chicken and scrambled eggs. Jay would have to do all the food stuff and Adam would have to do the skydiving and other scary stuff. It would be the best comedy on tv when Jay gets hurt and Adam has to eat a 400 year old fermented ostrich egg or something. Or Adam gets hurt and Jay has to do the dinosaur bone puzzle in 115 degree heat.

    Just so you know there was only one episode in Doctor Who that dealt with the Partition and that was Demons of the Punjab. It wasn’t a two-parter. There were no two-parters in that entire season because they made it that every episode that season was standalone

    • @Ryuu44
      @Ryuu44 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did they treat the topic in a respectful and truthful way at least? Also was it in Classic Who, or New Who? If it was a classic episode, then there's a chance they'll revisit the topic in future seasons. New Who has a bunch of progressive values and it's a typical progressive thing to talk out loud about one's country's past "sins". On the other hand it's probably not easy to persuade stations like the BBC to air that type of content. I'm also an anime fan and in the 15+ years I'm watching anime I think I never saw a single series that tackled Japanese imperialist crimes in China and Korea. Unsuprisingly there's a bunch of them, that show how bad it is to get hit by WMDs.

    • @logan_brit
      @logan_brit 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Ryuu44 It was a New Who episode and I think it was respectful. Or at least as respectful as you can be when trying to show in an accurate way how it went down, because what happened was painful to see

    The long dead Englishman Nani references, whose idea it was for the Partition, that would be one Lord Louis Mountbatten...uncle to Queen Elizabeth's late husband Prince Phillip. Sweet little Prince Louis is named after him. Mountbatten was also behind the push to make the proper surname of Elizabeth & Phillip's male heirs (now all heirs because...Girl Power) be Mountbatten-Windsor, not just Windsor. The exceptions are those in direct line to the throne (Charles, William, George). Most don't use it...despite everything Harry & Megan still use Sussex but both their kids are Mountbatten-Windsor. And that is probably the most I have used my history degree in years.

    I'm like Adam in that I CANNOT handle really spicy food. (Whereas my father carries around a vial of habanero powder to add to spicy food). But I'm like Jay in that I love the FLAVOR of quality spicy food. So I don't normally like it when the spice makes you sweat everywhere, but do love it when it makes the top of your head sweat underneath your hair, like all of a sudden it feels like you're wearing a wig that is sitting on a layer of sweat. This usually happens to me when I heat Kapow/Kaprow/Krapow chicken at a good Thai place.

    I really wish we had 8 episodes or each episode would be 10-15 Minutes longer. Just have the odd 1-2 minutes here and there to apreciate the setting, the characters and their dynamic. Get to know the allies and antagonists a bit better and understand their motivation not only from an interlectual point of view, but from an emotional one. The betrayal by the Clandestine could have been a really impactful emotional mile stone, but it was not, because we rushed through it and had not the time to see them as allies. Similar with the mentor of the Red Daggers, his death could have emotional impact, if we spent a couple more minutes time with him. By beeing stingy with the playtime Marvel reduces potentially awesome shows to merely good ones, it is a shame.

    • @Kasino80
      @Kasino80 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's exactly how I felt about this episode. It felt rushed. And the opening sequence on the plane came really out of nowhere considering how ep 3 ended.

    • @slothbabymutation7934
      @slothbabymutation7934 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you its a shame! However, it makes one wonder if it's just Marvel making the decisions for 6 Episodes. or Disney. Maybe Both. What a loss. This series should have been 9 episodes long. Did you hear? She Hulk will be 9 episodes long, originally it was 10 but they cut that season to 9 episodes.

    • @testfire3000
      @testfire3000 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed, Ms Marvel would have flourished with more episodes, or longer episodes. The whole meeting of the Clandestine was interesting, but the instant she said she needed time to think about it, they attack at her brother's wedding, potentially in front of dozens if not a hundred wedding guests? Not very "clandestine" at all. Even if we had just one full episode to meet them and think that maybe they are good guys, that would have made their sudden attacks seem surprising.
