    The production quality here was really good, to be fair all your videos are, you deserve (and I sincerely think you will have) a huge audience. I particularly enjoyed the switch to country music when you pulled out the tractor. This van will make a sick camper! nice job!!

    A little bit of information in front of the job would make your life way more easy. The parts for the essex engine are more difficult to find than the cologne engine. Outside of little britain

    • @HappyDayGarage
      @HappyDayGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It surely would, but there is just something special in discovering it by yourself! 😁 I hope there will not be too many parts to replace though.

    When i read the title i though whoa i hope he is saving the v4 and i thought maybe its getting a newer engine with more power after watching i am happy you intend to still use the rather unusual v4 engine good for you pal

    • @HappyDayGarage
      @HappyDayGarage  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was attempting to keep the V4, but I'm really tempted to put a stronger 2.9L V6 in! It would certainly make driving more comfortable, especially with the van fully loaded.

    Ha ha, it was not that I thought you were not strong enough, it was that I had thought that you too smart, then you took the gearbox cover off without an oil pan.... After getting warnings from the diff and the speedo.... I did say don't....

    Great series, the Transit is a mainstay for us Brits and all others who use them. The engine the transit was fitted with was the bullet proof V4 that had been used in the Ford Corsair in the mid sixties. Keep up the good work.

    • @HappyDayGarage
      @HappyDayGarage  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It seems as a bulletproof engine! Although the van being quite heavy, I am considering installing a Cologne 2.9 V6 instead.. To make it a little more eager to go uphill!

      Any progress on the Transit? Would love to know what you’ve decided to do engine wise

    @adamfaith2321 ปีที่แล้ว

    I replaced a few of those V4 1970's Mk1 transit engines back in the 80's. I used to separate the engine from the gearbox first.

      That's a good choice of operation sequence! I will soon be putting it apart for inspection and restoration.

    hey dude....super nice video!!!
    are you going to film the entire restoration process of this ford transit MK1?
    I wondered if a Volvo 2.3 engine would fit in it
    good luck

      Thanks. That is the plan, yes. Everything is possible, it just depends how much money, time and effort you're willing to put in. I am actually considering installing a Cologne 2.9 V6 engine in the van for some extra power.

      @HappyDayGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the way to go! The Transit is in the waiting line at the moment, but I will be inspecting the V4 engine soon.
      Keep an eye for updates.

    I've also got an early mk1 flat front in the uk I'm fitting a turbo di with 4 speed automatic but keeping it flat front, to do so. I've had to move the engine back cutting the bulkhead, put crush tubes in chassis for engine mounts, and that won't lift in between front crossmember and bulkhead so I have to remove axle lift engine box complete from below, it's been in and out 5 or 6 times to get Position correct, but it's now on its mounts bolted in, next problem is wiring because its epic pump, fly by wire & gearbox need info from pump to change gear

    • @HappyDayGarage
      @HappyDayGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the flat front looks nicer. There always seems to be lots of in-out action in real life custom builds, heh. Is that a 1.9 TDI you're dealing with?

    • @HappyDayGarage
      @HappyDayGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great option. I also wouldn't mind a diesel in mine, but I'm sure V4 will be pretty cool too. I'm actually thinking about turbocharging it.
