Wow...finally someone did a decent review with a comparison. Great review. I thought I was good with 07. But thanks for showing the headsculpts. 07 still a great release seeing you get 2. The battle version seems to be looking good even for today while the regular looks dated...im still ok with my 07 although I love to just get the headsculpt. Do all the hairpieces fit old and new? Great review 👏 👌 👍 😊
Wow thanks for the kind words!! I thought it was important to give a decent side-by-side close up of the DX07 and the DX25 headsculpts. Totally 💯 agree, the battle damaged version actually stands up quite well against the DX25 but the regular one not so much. But yeah both fantastic sets! I’ve tried swapping a lot of the Luke hairpieces and yeah they do all seem interchangeable. But personally I do tend to keep the sets as received from Hot Toys 😀 thanks for watching, I really appreciate it 😀👍🏻
To me DX 07 is the best. The head sculpt is really well done thus many accessories, the basement are great too...Dx 25 even looks like Mark Hammil!
I love both tbh! They’re both so vastly different it makes it very easy to justify having both in the collection 😃 As a set though the DX07 is fantastic because of the multiple bases, weather vane and clean and battle damaged figures! Thanks for watching 🙂🙌🏻
Oh man this figure is stunning. I think I’m sticking to Mando Luke as he is my personal ultimate version. But that base is exquisite! Great job TK 🤝

Thank you for the comparison with the DX 07. I have them both, but have not yet opened the new one. I have been contemplating selling it as the DX 05 is now depressed in value and some of the leather goods are wearing out. I still have not made up my mind, but I do appreciate the comparison.
No probs glad you found it useful! So which were you thinking of selling? the DX07? This seems to have lost a fair bit in value since this new one was announced and then released. I always assumed the older figures would maintain their value (I would never sell mine tbh and the pleather seems to be holding up ok) but yeah the prices seem to have dropped. Interesting you mention the DX05 prices dropping, I've been thinking of picking one up but always assumed it would be super expensive. Sorry I am late with my comments 😮 what can I say except IMPRESSIVE…love the headsculpt, side by side comparison is a real eye opener isn’t it as to how much improvement has been made. I agree I think this guy is the best Luke Skywalker figure and I love him alongside R2 and Yoda, what a great diorama that would make🤩. Something classy about a DX release isn’t there? Just love the bases and even the way the set is presented, just that bit more classy I think. Another great pick up and addition to your epic collection, congratulations 👍as always great video and looking forward to more to come…. Stay Well👍
Honestly I was really surprised when I put them side by side. The improvement is startling! And yeah I love the presentation and also the versatility of this set, he goes great next to Bespin characters AND looks great in Dagobah themed displays.

You did it again! *This close* to passing on this, but your comparison segment pulled me back into the "yes" side. It is an upgrade from the classic DX7. The thing that put me off initially was how CLEAN the outfit and gear are. The tailoring is so neat and crisp. The almost too-stoic look to the expression goes against it a bit too. The DX7 still has a few things going for it like the crumpled look to the clothes and the intensity in the expression. I still have that battle-damaged version proudly on display. And while the current DX edition is nice with it's sturdy slipcase, the 7's big, glorious box is still an amazing presentation.
I'm ready to welcome this new version to the collection. But...I only just have the Mando Luke on the way and want to enjoy that one for a bit.

Yeah totally agree with your points mate. The overly clean look can be a bit of a negative. But I think the set, the sculpt, and overall look of the figure on display transcends any quibbles I had with the cleanness of the suit 👍🏻 And yeah I’m with you I’m still loving my dx07 set, the battle damaged version is epic and so unique in the collection! Glad you’re getting the DX25 though, it would be a shame to skip it but then regret it! But yeah enjoy Mando Luke first, that’s a brilliant set too of course!! Great comparisons on the DX07 & DX25! I have to say, while the DX25 is lightyears ahead of the DX07, I like the baggier lived-in look to the standard DX07’s outfit. It has more character to it, while the DX25 looks a bit more manufactured and form fitting.
The DX25 takes the cake, but the DX07’s got an edge that the other doesn’t.

I agree 💯 with your assessment of the DX07 and DX25. Definitely pros and cons with both so I’m really glad I picked up the DX07 when I did ( even though I paid a bit of a premium for it!)

Your comparison section really shows up the DX07. Looking at DX07 by itself, you can think, “Yeah, that’s Luke”; put him next to Mando or Bespin Luke, though, and suddenly it’s “Who’s this guy?!”
Battle-damaged DX07 still essential though to display separately from squeaky-clean DX25.
💯 agree mate!! DX07 looks perfectly fine in isolation but genuinely does not compete with the new one. Which is great really as it just shows how far HT technology has improved over the years!

Great video as always, mine kinda arrived today..... Parcelforce sent it next door, and left it outside!!!!! Thankfully I managed to retrieve it with the help of TOF who contacted PF to get info. I have not had much time to look at mine yet. Not sure about the Vader head yet. I wasn't going to get this one, but the £30 odd difference I thought what the heck lol.
OMG left it outside?!?! That would have been *great* in a thunderstorm wouldn’t it!! 😡 Glad you managed to retrieve it ok 👍🏻😮💨 Gold star for TOF (Toys on Fire?) for chasing that up with PF! Great service! I’ve reached out to them to see if they can get me the next Star Wars figure when it releases. I’ve seen they get rave reviews. Altho not sure about Parcelforce. I think they’re having problems with volume of parcels (I’m guessing due to staff cuts so they can lower their wage bill) which might be why they seemingly dumped it and ran!

This was so much better than I expected,I really thought it would just be a copy of the original with some small improvements but they look so different, even the material of the clothes looks different. Well impressed, such a shame the lightsaber isn't USB. Great video!
Yeah same, took me by surprise how great it looks tbh! And yeah all the soft goods are improved. Completely reimagined I guess. Blown away by it. Yeah shame about the lightsaber, think the first USB saber will be Kenobi. As always, thanks for watching mate 😀👍🏻
@@TK421Collectibles I don't know how well you could see it in person but even the material and stitching on the clothes looks so much better in the video. I do keep wondering if they will release lightsabers with USB leads as replacements for older figures. I bet they don't but I really hope they do, that would be a game changer but saying that we don't know how good, or bad these USB ones will be. Of course dude!
@@OdinAnon must admit I didn’t spend too much time looking at the actual stitching etc doing the video. But when I get some downtime over the weekend I’ll be having another proper look to take it all in! 😀
As far as I’m aware I don’t think Hot Toys have ever sold accessories separately so it probably unlikely we’ll be able to retro-fit our collections with USB Sabers. But I imagine they start appearing on eBay when people break down their sets over time 👍🏻
@@TK421Collectibles yeah I suspected the sane but unfortunately i think people will be selling them for a lot and then you need to get one that matches the character. It sounds stupid but I think it will drive me mad that only some figures in my collection will have lit lightsabers and not others. I wish I could get every figure like the third sister and Inquisitor but I have to pick and choose. We've ordered the obi wan from the show, Mace windu and the newest Darth vader with lightning head. I can't remember if Darth has a USB lightsabre actually.

It’s a great set!! Highly recommend it if you can find a good condition one. Also the price has come down a bit since the release of the new version 👍🏻
They are the same headsculpts just different paint apps I bought two extra Mando HS for my original Jedi Luke. I’m a RTOJ FAN!!

Loving the new Luke, it is next level. The original doesn’t even look like Luke compared to the new one. I reckon his outfit will dirty up nicely with a bit of time and photographing him outside a few times.
Yeah it honestly surprised me just *how* different they were!! Even considering how old the DX07 is, the comparison is just light years away with this new one!

Mine will be be staying as uncustomised as possible tbh 😅 I always tend to keep them exactly as Hot Toys intended, even if that means they’re not quite movie accurate! Speaking of photography I was already hyped for the figure but seeing your shots on FB and Insta over past few days sent my hype levels thru the roof!! 😃

A very good figure ,his suit looks better quality .That Vader head is totes amaze don't think you see severed neck in film however . You can send the spare hair here to the Black Country for this old baldie 😂😂another gud un. Yoe gotta get a BLACK lead tk421 lad 😱😱
Yeah the Vader head is awesome 😀 yeah you’re right, we don’t see the cauterised neck wound in the film (shame 😅). Haha think I’ll be needed that hair myself soon tbh ! And yeah I don’t know why I was going on about the usb lead! One of the benefits/downsides of doing everything unscripted!! 😂😂

Head sculpt is amazing.
The suit looks good but... its uh... a snug fit. Freshly washed and ironed.
So clean. Looks like it's Luke first day working at the garage. Work clothes worn for the first time 😂
Slightly looser cut and a bit of weathering would be perfect but screw it. Looks great anyway.

I do feel that it's only a matter of time before we get a battle damaged special version. Convention exclusive. This clean version is right out of the Muppet Show Star Wars episode! I'll be keeping my original two set. But of course I have this new one on order.
That Muppet Show version takes me back! 😂 I was thinking the same thing. Either another two pack, or weathered version up next.

For some reason this totally hadn’t occurred to me, I just assumed Hot Toys are now done with ESB figures! But now you mention it, I guess it’s a no brainer to reissue this one with a battle damaged version isn’t it! Good call! 👍🏻😀

I never did like the DX07 back then and now, the head sculpt is bad! The new head sculpt is much better!

Lol I just don't like the eyes on the dx07 kinda creepy. But i like the outfit more on the dx07 not sure if I like the clean look on the new one.

I think that the sculpt(s) on the DX07 are still superior to this new "Mando Luke" headsculpt Hot Toys is using. I think that if one were to have a competent painter refresh the headsculpts on the DX07 they would look even better and be a far better representation for comparison. All I can see with this new version is the "Deep-fake" Luke, which looks a bit soft and artificial in my opinion 🤔. Great 👍 unboxing and review video. This video is definitely a great source of reference and should be very helpful to the collecting community 👍 😊

Honestly it’s a tricky one for me because sometimes I look at the DX07 and the newer sculpts look far better, but then sometimes I look at the DX07 I think wow that is actually a really good sculpt, particularly the battle damaged version! So honestly I think it depends what mood I’m in or something 😅 Really interesting point about getting a paint refresh, I’ve been researching this and its astonishing how much of a massive difference a good paint app can make to an older figure! I saw it with a sideshow Obi-Wan I think, and the difference was just incredible! So good call! If you ever spot a video of anyone doing this you’ll have to drop me a comment as would be very interested to see it. I’ve already seen someone do a custom battle damaged DX25 and it looks *superb*.

I do think on the clean hairpiece the hair length is more accurate on dx07 vs the new one. I think the hair is just a bit outta proportion. I may be wrong.
I tend to agree tbh I love the figure but there’s elements of the DX07 that just seem a bit more accurate/better!

Yeah was going to show them together but thought the vid would run on too long. So snow Speeder Luke is definitely more along the lines of the RotJ Luke that got released a couple of years ago. This new one though is completely different tbh. Snowspeeeder one is great but there’s just something better about the new one (imho), can’t quite put my finger on it!
Bespin Luke is such an iconic look, from one of the most memorable scenes in Star Wars. I haven’t got the DX07, however, I still won’t be getting this new version. If I had to choose between the 2, it would still be the DX07! This newer one is obviously an improvement, in terms of quality and face sculpt, but I can’t get past the ultra clean outfit, and the fact that it makes Luke look like he’s been on steroids! The fat suit underneath ensures the body proportions aren’t right - chunky thighs and beefier chest than before, made even more apparent by the neatly pressed, tight fitting suit. As you can tell, I’m not a fan! Much prefer the looser fitting suit and thinner body of the DX07, especially with the more weathered look. This one looks like he’s just come out of a dry cleaners! Having said all this, I know a lot of collectors absolutely love this new release, and that is what I love about collecting. We all see figures in our own way and appreciate them differently - and as an art form, that’s to be expected and what makes this hobby so cool. Another great look at a newly released figure Chris - many thanks for showing! Always love watching them. 👍🏼

I was surprised how unweathered it was tbh but this didn’t really detract from it for me (altho I did mention it a few times I think 😅) And another thing I did notice but didn’t mention was that his trousers did seem really tight especially on the ass 😅😅 whereas it’s all a lot looser fitting on the DX07 as you point out. Luke was wearing a a few different outfits on Dagobah. Also, judging by how big his biceps were in the training scenes, he was a lot more muscular in that movie than in A New Hope. I think this is just for his camp, the Dark Side Cave and from his arrival on Bespin to him leaping down from the Carbon Freezing Chamber. I bet the costume was clean and neat when he took it out of his X-Wing, haha!

Not sure to be honest!! I really don't want to try and pop the head off the DX07 because it cost loads at the time 🫣 But it is a good idea tho if you want the new head sculpt with the old body and weathered outfit. I'm just not sure the neck attachment is the same! 👍🏻

How do you move his eyes? Noonehas everfone a tutorial on it. Only the joker but he has the tool built in unlike this
Take the hair off and the eyes can be individually moved. There’s a plastic implement in the box that fit’s into the back of the eye ball allowing you to rotate and move it 😀👍🏻
