I had the same problem today. I disconnected and reconnected my negative battery terminal. That fixed the problem! I hope this helps many people. Happy New Year!
Thank you SO much for this video!! I was having this EXACT issue on my 2011 toyota sienna and after I changed my bank 2 oxygen sensor, the VSC and check engine light finally went away!!
Thanks for this! Same problem, VSC light, but also an intermittent P0300 (Cylinder Misfire). I was chasing down the vacuum leak, MAF and PCV. cleaning ABS Sensors rabbit hole(s) until I saw your video. I'm not getting a specific O2 sensor malfunction off my BlueDriver. So either more research or buy two downstream sensors. Thanks a bunch for connecting the dots between two seemingly unrelated systems! Update- it's worth checking some really easy things, like the PCV valve and its hose to the intake. I was nosing around and realized the hose was just "hanging by habit" to the intake [following an urgent alternator replacement by local multi-brand Napa repair shop - after which the VSC and P0300 occurred]. I removed and cleaned the PCV, then ensured the hose clamps were snug. The VSC light and the misfire codes haven't come back after four days of varied but steady driving. I think you're on to something. In my case, the air introduced downstream of the MAF may have contributed to the P0300, and then the VSC as you experienced. My downstream O2 sensors are in the sub 1 volt range, but not operating in sync like the upstream Air/Fuel sensors are (which may mean one is going bad, but early days). Next the serpentine belt and trying to figure out why I'm running through CV boots on the outer boot, left side. LAST UPDATE - Here are the verified Denso PNs for the 2011 Sienna for the Bank(x) Sensor (x) locations: B1S1 (Right/Firewall, Upstream) 234-9022 ; B1S2 (Right, Downstream) 234-4540; B2S1 (Left/Radiator, Upstream) 234-9008; B2S2 (Left, Downstream) 234-4416.
Same thing is happening to our 2011 Toyota Sienna. P0430 code and check VSC. Dealer recommends replacing the catalytic converter after troubleshooting that the sensors were working. Trying the advice on other chat rooms to do a fuel additive and a new air filter. Will then try a new PCV valve and then a new B2 Sensor 2 O2 sensor like you did. Thanks for the video!
I found this same solution mentioned in various online forums. I still have this problem, and need to fix it. One VERY IMPORTANT THING for anyone with a 2011 Sienna V6 - update your OIL COOLER LINES!!! They are rubber from the factory, and will start to leak and could cause a fire! It is a SAFETY RECALL in Canada, but not in the U.S. I replaced mine with the updated METAL lines and gaskets from Toyota for just over $110 in parts as a kit. Our rubber lines started squirting engine oil right on the front catalytic converter and started smoking. It pumped out 3-4 quarts of oil over several miles with no warning! Also, check your transmission for the presence of the magnets in the pan - ours didn't have any, from the factory! Now we need a transmission because of Toyota's poor quality control - aluminum in the fluid and slips in reverse when hot. Putting 10 quarts of fluid through it didn't help. Good luck!
Had the same issue with the cooler lines. Shit design and a ticking time bomb for sure. Got the upgraded one from the dealer, bit of a pain in the ass to swap but doable with patience and the right tools.
I succeeded in removing the suspected faulty oxygen sensor from my 2011 Toyota Sienna and pre-detached the cable and clip. I attempted to install the new Denso O2 sensor (that you promoted via Amazon) after placing a small bead of copper antisieze (included) on the leading threads. Unfortunately, with the cable scrunched behind the body of the oxygen sensor, apparently I did not have the threads squarely engaged. I rounded the leading threads on the replacement (new) oxygen sensor. I have ordered a second sensor and will be more careful to manually thread prior to wrenching and torquing tight so as to NOT cross thread. I am hoping that the threads in the exhaust pipe's bung are not corrupted. There is not much room there to run a tap through to chase out the bung's threads.
it could be that they just activate a bunch of lights to make people pay attention because people don't care when check engine light comes on since it is usually stupid things like loose gas cap and such. my Subaru lit up several lights and disabled cruise control because i was changing spark plugs and turned car to accessory or run without starting it while a wire to plugs was disconnected
Hey man! I have the same issue on my Toyota sienna 2011. Im seeing your video to fix it. Hope so! I still don’t know the problem. But seeing your video I think it will be same
It means all the nannies are turned off - no ABS, no stability control, no traction control. If you are comfortable driving without them - then go for it.
READ THIS, COULD THE SAME ISSUE AS YOURS. I just help a friend vehicle: Toyota Sienna 2011 issue: engine light on vsc system message on dashboard I saw this video and I called to toyota service, they ask me if I recently ad gasoline to the van, the question was related to a loosen or broken gas cap. I turn off the van, took off the cap and put back again making sure it was all the way closed , and the engine light / vcs system was gone. Good luck
So I have a 2008 Seinna. Shortly after purchasing it used, we experienced a faulty traction control system. Going around a curve, the van would freak out, the brakes would slam on, and it would be hard to control the van. The Yaw sensor was replaced, zero point balancing, etc. No luck. Have heard it could be the rack and pinion. Then an O2 sensor went out. This disabled the faulty braking system, so the van was drivable. Partner replaced the sensor so I could pass my emissions check. Disabled the traction control system by pulling some fuse. I hate driving this van. I live in a valley and have to go through mountains to leave. I avoid leaving the valley floor or driving in any type of bad weather. I have driving-related anxiety now. I do not understand why Toyota designed all these things to be intertwined with one another. We have owned several Toyotas from the 1969 Corolla to the 1980s. I thought I was buying a decent van by going with Toyota. I need a new car but am afraid of buying another lemon.
Let me add my thanks as well - great video. I have a 2009 Toyota Venza and was having the same issue - the oxygen sensor fixed it. Can I ask what type / model ODB tool you are using?

I have the same problem with my 2011 Sienna Se. But its bank 2 sensor 1. The top Sensor. I replaced it and works fine for a couple of days but then the error came back..
I had this happen 3 years ago I took it in they replaced my Cadillac converter. Last winter it went on again then went away when warm out now its winter again and happens again
Hi to all. I have the same issue "check vsc system" and the sign on the dashboard on just after replacing the Electronic Power Steering system Assist motor on my 2011sienna used from a 2017. I will try driving some miles and see if that fix the issue without replacing any O2's. Any one having the same issue like mine?

I’m having a similar issue.
Did you end up replacing all of the oxygen sensors?
I have the same problem, my car was driving fine and started running slow slow slow until stop. My engine keeps running not the tires.please help!!!
You should always check ur gas cap First! This will save a lot of time and money if the gas cap is bad. Worked for me! ✌️
Update- this exact sensor failed again. Replaced again. 3-4 years of usable life span.

Thank you so much for sharing thus video.. i was driving home last night when suddenly my vsc and CEL came on.. hoepfully this fix my problem.
You can’t rely on the video alone- you need to diagnose it first. A lot of different issues could lead to the same warning.
@@HETPEZB I scan it and i get a p2917 code which is B2S1 stuck lean.
Vacuum leak?

I had the same issue with my Toyota replace oxygen sensor..👍
Later down the road I have the same VSC system message when one of the VVTi valves got kaput.

You always should start with a diagnostic first. Without it - it may become a parts cannon.

I have been having this problem for months and took it to mechanic after mechanic. My husband is going to try this now!
It’s always good to start with the diagnostics.

I would check a live data on a wheel speed sensors during those events if it is easy to replicate the faulty condition.
Let me add my thanks as well - great video. I have a 2009 Toyota Venza and was having the same issue - the oxygen sensor fixed it. Can I ask what type / model ODB tool you are using?
I was using Launch scanner.
What size is the nut to remove the sensor? What size wrench is needed
As shown in the video I simply used the pipe wrench. Didn’t measure the size of the nut.
22mm wrench
Good video I have the same problem now you help me out with this video thank you
Great video, Thank you so much
The vehicle uses the throttle to control traction by limiting the throttle output by the ECM. This aids with stabilizing the vehicle.
Was the van making a louder exhaust sound before the fix? Or was the vsc the only warning?
There were no any side effects except stability/traction system was deactivated.
Did you find out what was causing louder exhaust sound?
Same thing here. The exhaust made a louder sound before VSC light came on. Did you find out why?
Is this consider bank 2 sensor 2

After few starts and driving it went away on its own.

Did you check VVT filters? I guess there are 2 of them. If they are clogged the code will be triggered.

Total Godsend
What app did you use to diagnose the issue? My light just came on and I want to make sure I am replacing the proper part.
I used Launch but you can use any good scanner, like Autel for example.
@@HETPEZB thank you!
Is the problem completely fixed, by changing the 02 sensors?
In my case yes. YMMV.
I had replaced the sensor as my code was same with same error but after short drive appearing again with same error and code .. any one on same boat ?
What’s the code exactly?
P2118
Will try tommorow
Thanks
Is this the same as a venza? They look similar
Most of the electrical is very similar.
when buying from Amazon it says it is not compatible for Toyota Sienna 2011
It’s possible the listing was changed. I made this video few years ago.
@@HETPEZB thanks you
So did you change 2 sensors or just one?
If both sensors were diagnosed as bad - you replace both, if only one - you change only one that was diagnosed as non-working.
I have changed it but it doesn’t go!
What codes do you have?
