Everything you said! Marilyn's birthday was the on first. ❤ I had to celebrate our girl. She deserves it. She always will. She is loved. My favorite movie of hers is easily Bus Stop! I just got a book called Fragments. It's a collection of all of Marilyn's writings, journals, poems. It's so beautiful. I got mine on Amazon. It's just titled, "Fragments". I think you'll enjoy it! I hate that they gave her the "dumb blonde" roles. She was an intellect. A beautiful and creative writer. Marilyn is epic. There will never be another Marilyn, never.

    According to Marilyn Monroe :
"Just because you fail once, doesn't mean you're gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don't, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life's a beautiful thing and there's so much to smile about."

Marilyn was such a queen, and far more intelligent than her naysayers gave her credit for. She never gave up, and prevailed as one of the most successful Hollywood Starlets, sadly dying at a young age.

Marilyn Monroe is undeniably unparalleled. It's so easy to get caught up in her unfathomable beauty and sensuality but she's so much more than that; her intelligence, charm, charisma, vulnerability, innocence, kindness, talent and luminosity truly remains unmatched. She's the definition of having 'It.' I'm in my 20s and I'm such an admirer of hers, the things she endured from childhood, to her career and untimely death...her strength is something that should be celebrated more.
I truly believe she was too beautiful and precious for this world and that's why she was only here for a heartbreakingly short period but my God, did she leave her permanent mark on the earth. She's often imitated (and cheaply so by the likes of Kim k whose disrespect is astounding) but she will never be duplicated. There's only one Marilyn Monroe, period. May she forever rest in peace

Marilyn has been one of my heroes since I was a teenager and as I get older and understand things more, the more I appreciate and love her for the woman we never got to see and meet. If I could go back in time and have the chance to meet her, I would give her a hug, tell her that it's going to be okay, and I'm here to listen. Some heroes wear capes, one of my heroes wore red lipstick, Chanel no 5 to bed, and had her hair dyed the perfect shade of blonde.

This might sound weird, but I see a lot of Marilyn in Barbie, I read some of her quotes and they make me think of Barbie. I mean think about it both misunderstood and judged, both of their intelligence and work under valued (Marilyn's being human rights and Barbie's being feminism), and both reduced to being the punch line to a dumb blonde joke. In fact both of their names were used as insults in Legally Blonde. But above all both have been inspiring people for generations.

She was an awful narcissist who would adopt pets, then move or go on location and just abandon them, not many people realize that there was only one important thing in her life, herself, no one else mattered. She was cruelly indifferent to others suffering, while being obsessed with her own. I hated her vulgar, self centered falseness. What a waste of a person. Anyone who abuses animals has no excuse!

I collect biographies and have a lot of old, out of print Hollywood bios from various actors (my great aunts were married to film producers in the 20s and 30s and my mom was a very minor child actor in the 30s). Several books that happen to talk about Marilyn mention that people gave her animals as pets and she would go off on location, etc., and never come back for them, and a few talk about how she had no empathy for other people as she never learned anything about how to treat others because of her awful childhood and the mental illness in her family....one of her agents wives spoke about people either pitying or loathing her, as she was a complete user who had no feeling for others...all of which may be just others opinions, but I've come across it over and over, in almost every mention of her. No one ever said she was a caring friend, or went out of her way for any one, just that she was damaged and frail, which lets people get away with a LOT, imo...she was well known for ruining film scenes and schedules as well, and was publicly blamed for causing Clark Gable health problems on the movie, The Misfits...which led to his death. She just never thought of anything but herself, according to every anecdote about her I've ever seen. A few people might just be jealous or catty, but everyone who ever knew her? People like that may be damaged, which is very sad, but she was smart enough to get what she wanted usually, so she wasn't operating unthinkingly, just selfishly. I just despise people like that, honestly, and can think of a bunch of women in Hollywood who deserved the admiration of others without the ugly personality disorders Marilyn displayed over and over. I know its harsh, but when I lived and worked in Hollywood myself in the early 90s, I talked to a couple of real estate agents who told me about their finding abandoned animals all the time in houses actors would rent, then go off to shoot a movie and just leave their "status" pet behind to starve to death alone because they "didn't have time" to re-home it. It still happens a lot, apparently. Actors are some of the most self centered, unfeeling people in the world, and I met a lot of them....of course some were great, but not many. You have to be laser focused on yourself to be a star. Look at the awful Kardashians, they've had everything from monkeys to snakes to "in" cats and dogs, which they show off with, then dump...

No Marilyn Monroe may not be an icon for you but, she's an icon for a lot of people and she has passed away so even if what you say is true let it lie. If she was alive and you could prove this with her own words I'd be more on your side because I agree with you cruelty to animals is awful. She died over 60 some odd years ago. I admire Marilyn for her beauty and acting skills. Brigitte Bardot said she was vulgar which I agree with-suggestively licking her lips a lot of the time. Yuk! Gross!
