Hi. Yes those M. robustum are something else. Mine will move in circles with butt in the air. My understanding of them, is that they have quite the hooked hairs that can really cling to your skin. Lol u made that pickup look easy! Great video...
Both of you are wrong. M.Robostum has barbed VII and VIII legs, and will use that as a spear for defensive popruses. The spinning movement is the "wheel of death" as it will use it's momentum for a stronger thrust. The barbed legs are actually quite dangerouse if it kicks you full strength. M.Robostum rarely uses it's urticating hairs.
So everybody, even Petko, is wrong?; his arms, face and itchy throat were from Megophobema Robustum, not Linda? Surprising. Not questioning the hypothesis, just surprising! Thanks for the insight!
I’m a big fan from Philippines and my whole family watches your videos (even tho they dont like tarantulas that much), Merry Christmas Petko and to all of you The Dark Den community! ❤️
Linda Kicks hairs like crazy. Petko: puts old substrate with his bare hands in the new enclosure Also Petko: Theraphosas got the worst urticating hairs out of all tarantulas 😂 Linda Videos are my favourite 🥰
Lmfaoo I remember playing with a few kittens and some cats they'd stick their butt in the air I said Il shove a bamboo shoot up your butt in a min it placed down its butt 😆 pretty funny when that happens
Ooh, that was quick. My calendar arrived today😀 I can't eait to have a good look. I'm wrapping it up for Christmas, so I'm not going to peek. Thanks Petko and Merry Christmas to you and your family and the creepy crawlies🎄❤️
M Robustum are awesome, they have a unique defence mechnism, in that the turn and hit you with therir backlegs which re slightly thicker and covered in ultricating hairs, maybe thats what she is trying to do?
My T Stirmi is so fidgety, like Linda. She’s about the same size too. I’ve never been so afraid of a T running away until I got her! Great video by the way! Thanks Petko👍
I think Linda likes her new encloser. U sure have come a long way in building them. Happy early Birthday Wish, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to U and all ur pets and subscribers.
I've always liked tarantulas to some degree, mainly because unlike the small spiders 99% of us deal with, these guys can't get into your mouth or something without you having ample signs of where they are beforehand. If I woke up to one staring at me, I'd still scream but I don't think I'd hurt it if I could help it lol. It's just curious about us like we are about them.
No spider whatsoever will ever voluntarily enter your mouth. They sense their surroundings by feeling vibrations, so walking on any warm blooded animal makes them, hm, maybe like you walking a noisy and dark or very foggy place. They really don't like it and will avoid doing so if possible. And they will NEVER enter a place where all this is WET in addition. There are many fears and phobias in our world which do make sense (or made, when we were but stone men), but this one has no cause. Try take a spider on your hand, she will flee. Surround a spider with your fingers, she will try to find a way out without having to walk on your skin. They simply don't like to walk on skin. Have no fear!
@@rumpelstilzz There's an old myth that you swallow a few spiders a year in your sleep. I'm guessing that's where the fear is coming from. Don't sweat it, Kyle. It's just a story that gets passed around to freak people out.
Petko can we see the results of you playing in T. stirmi substrate? I was told since they have some of the worst hairs, that once you start moving old substrate it kicks up all her old hairs. Then you’re digging in it haha
Merry Christmas Dark den good luck to 2020. You are a great influence to invert, reptile, mammal and yes cappuccino aswell. have A great Christmas and new year bud. Thanks for getting me into the hobby of tarantula keeping.
Petko! This morning I went to make tea and there was a beautiful jumping spider in my kettle! So I rewatched all your videos with Kiwi and googled how to keep jumping spiders. So now I have a seasonal pet. Its freezing here where I live so she can stay till the Ice is gone. How is Kiwi? Have you ever "oops now I have a new pet"?
Idk why but I always enjoy watching them web up stuff, should make a time lapse of them webbing up their new enclosures ! Well the ones that web so interesting lol
I can only imagine how Petko's hand feels right now. Re-using and working around a T. Stirmi's old substrate without gloves is an itchy experience. Goodluck with the hand man.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Petco !!! So January will be Dark Den Season 3 ?!?! Anyways, thank you for the Rehouse and hi jinx!!! Oh and Happy Birthday Petko!!!🎉🎁🎊🎈🎂
My Theraphosa stirmi did not like her leaf litter. She moved all the leaf litter to the edges of the enclosure leaving her burrow and in front of it bare. : )
I think she could feel your movements through the air and was staying still as a defense. I bet she would move around a lot if you closed her enclosure and left the camera on timelapse. Great video as always! I look forwards to her next rehouse when she is 5cm bigger lmao
A pet shop near where I live has a goliath birdeater (can’t remember if it’s blondi or stirmi) and the big girl would look so good in a nice enclosure but I’m not allowed any more Ts at the moment
Love that Megaphobema robustum!!! I am new to the T hobby and my female (M. robustum) looks just like that! It is my only T for now. Trying to get used to the weird habits it has. My T was about 3.5 inches (9 cm) she molted Monday the 16th. I will try to feed her this weekend. She should be hardened up enough by then.
You should probably use gloves when you are messing with her and her enclosure. These hairs will get worse and in the end, you can have literal blisters all over your hands.
Your Megaphobema robustum is not acting normally she seems very slow compared to the ones i've kept. They do have an unusual defence, they tend to pump up and down and have been known to spin. The most damaging defence comes from the rear legs where they have barbed stiff hairs. Why didn't you pinch grab the stirmi? lol.
I half expected Linda to start dragging that container across the table
That's the first time I've ever seen anyone pinch grab a spider. Fascinating

The way the orange one moves reminds me of when you stroke a cat where their butt goes into the air lol 😂

Thanks so Much Dark Den Linda Looks Amazing.. Merry Christmas to you and your Family Much Love From London Ontario....
Its the holidays man, she's just really drunk
That's exactly what I think...it's either that or she has CP or MS.

I think your doing a awesome job maintaining them
Happy birthday and merry Christmas 🎄
Is that robustum a trantula or a friggin octopus
It's a land octopus, duh lol
Both?
i think she will die
Thats a bit *Toxic*
Being serious tho I think its because of excessive inbreeding
M Robustum are awesome, they have a unique defence mechnism, in that the turn and hit you with therir backlegs which re slightly thicker and covered in ultricating hairs, maybe thats what she is trying to do?

Wow.... Linda is huge! Lol and she certainly wasn't thrilled with being under that plastic container!!
I just had to move my Stirmi like 2 weeks ago, went about the same XD Scary though even though they are new worlds they act kinda like old worlds.
Merry Christmas Petko!
