Back in 2011, I was doing a victory lap (that's what we Canadians call a fifth year of high school). I was listening to this song all the time, and it became my soundtrack for that year.
I was in the back seat of my uncle's Thunderbird on the way back from Houston Texas in the middle of the night when I heard the original. It was raining and so much lightning...
It's most definitely in my top 20 'pop' songs of all-time to this day (New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle" will always be my #1 pop song, followed by Depeche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence"), some 42 years since it was first released back in 1981...that incredibly suspenseful keyboard riff, combined with Kim Carnes' phenomenally husky voice belting out the ever-sentimental lyrics re: ol' Bette, just amazing! E olha que nas décadas citadas não se contava com quase nada em termos de recursos tecnológicos, porém, ainda assim, as produções eram magnificas.
