I've been using this knot since I learned how to fish 30 years ago. I don't remember how I learned it and don't know what it's called. But it never let me down.
Same although I use different knots as well but for much of my fishing I have used this knot. I remember learning it as well some 35 years back lol We are both to old now to remember its name

Agreed I tried finding it and theres some that are close but not this 1.....again it was the first knot my father showed me 25+yrs ago and it's the only 1 I remember but it is a strong knot...
I don't use this knot, but it looks interesting. One question though, with the tag end pointing towards you, are you picking up a lot of junk with it?

I have never used this knot. I like how it is doubled through the eye.
Use the Palomar knot, it ‘s much stronger & also doubled through the eye, and 1000 times easier to tie in a boat on a rough, windy, rainy or cold day…takes 1/4 of the time & much, much easier for older hands to tie…
There's multiple knots out there that are just as strong and much more simple to tie. Try tying that knot with fine line with wind blowing and cold hands.

Try tying it with 40 lb mono, never happen.

With braid that thick splicing it on would be strong enough to land fish with, takes half the time as well.

It’s all what you feel comfortable with.Been using the trilene knot for over 50 years doesn’t let me down often and I can tie it in my sleep.
I use the trilene and the polymer knot. The trilene is what I was taught as a kid. You cannot beat the trilene for light weight line.
surely the word often in the sentence is indication the knot isnt quite good enough? i use the palomar knot for swivels etc and the uni or grinner knot for different line types and thicknesses

Palomar for 50lb and lower test, centauri for any line heavier. Been inshore/offshore fishing for years and have never lost a single fish due to knot failure. Never used crimps once.

I've always used *only* Palomar, since 2007, to tie the clip to the mono but sometime it does not completely convince me, there are some cases in which it is particularly weak, I don't know why.
Good luck with that…may look pretty, but will not tension properly….stick with the Palomar…has it failed you??!!!

Issue with this is the tag end is out the side able to snag things.. rather than snagless towards the bait

Palomar is a great knot, but can’t be used if the other end of the swivel is already attached to something such as the mainline for instance. Tight lines.
I can tie a uni knot faster than a palomar knot. The palomar knot is a pain to do on a hook with small eye.
They all look so easy with 80 lb. Braid.
There is no simpler and more effective knot to tie than the uni knot. It’s the best fishing knot to tie hands down and one of the quickest.

Same style as threading, double lining, loop and pull, gives that spring look and lock style, mines never pulled ever line will snap before knot pulls
This knot was common in the 60s, used it all the time for tying hooks here in UK, nothing new really, but a good knot nevertheless
