  • Brass Hat promotional executive cruised 1968 Buick Wildcat & the story behind Dr. Patrick McDaniel's machine. Dr. McDaniel has owned this 68 Buick since 1983 & continues to be its caretaker. This episode of Samspace81 Headlights, we'll sit down and ride with Patrick as he takes us down memory lane, explaining how he came to adore these old Buicks and what makes his '68 Buick Wildcat hardtop extra special. Thanks for watching Samspace81 & I appreciate you watching this episode of Headlights in its entirety. The folks watching the Samspace81 TH-cam channel are the reason I am able to keep doing this. Thank you all.
The Buick Wildcat is part luxury car, cruiser and muscle car in a full sized comfortable cruiser of the late 1960s, still enjoyed through 2019 and beyond.

It is a great thing what this man did with this great American icon. The 68 Wildcat was a classy looking Wildcat, as all Wildcats were. Wildcats were always my favorite Buicks along with Invictas,Centurions,Rivs, and Deuce+1/4s. They deserve to be around forever!!! Job well done!!! I❤❤❤ your 68 Wildcat!!!

I own a 68 Wildcat. I Modified it though. It will be my car for the rest of my life. I will pass it on to my now 12-year-old son whenever I die.

Sam, you just brought another memory back for me. My Dad had a red 2-door '68 Wildcat just like this one in 1970. I was 10 yrs old. I'm thinking I remember his having the 455 engine. I do remember it would haul ass! I believe his had the column shift. I asked him to keep it for me till I turned 16, but it wasn't meant to be.

Wonderful Steve. Glad I could trigger a good memory or two. I even showed the engine ;) Appreciate you watching as always my friend.

when i was kid back in the 70s, our housekeeper's hubby had one of those, it was immaculate! almost same color, but i think his was more of a bronze color.. lot of shiny chrome. the car was cool AF. these cars seem old to us now, but in 77, it was barely a decade old.. you can imagine how pristine you could keep em back then. cool vid, bring back some good memories!

Vey cool. I dtive a 1967 Electra daily. The 430/455 is a great engine after the nylon timing set is replaced.
If you have the impossible-to-repair Buick 9 3/8 rear end, a GM A-Body rear end will fit after the upper link mounts are moved over. I usrd an S60 with a Tru-Trac from Strange Engineering.
If you install a GearVendors overdrive, you can get rid of the weak 2-piece driveshaft
Also, a 70's C10 5-row radiator fits well enough in these.

What a lovely story and a lovely survivor . We all know it could do with a repaint but the interior is superb for a car this old. And the previous custodian knew exactly who should be the next recipient. It really is a great story Sam. At about 7mins 30secs your camera picks out another classic , what was it ? ( old Englishman still learning !) Thanks Sam .

That was 67 only on the GS400 and Riviera. It was a option on some other cars.

    • @paulcaruthers9647

67-68 were available in 3 speed standard on the column only, no 4 speed option, and no Wildcat specific 4 speed console.
