  • So I got a new Fridge, and it's "Smart". I got the LG 36-inch french door refrigerator, with a door-in-door feature as well as InstaView, and dual ice makers.
    If you’re like me and you upgrade your refrigerator every never years, you probably aren’t aware of some of the features out there these days. And neither was I. Let me walk you through some of the key features of this LG.

    I'm in Huntsville, AL and I just bought a townhome that I'll be closing on in a couple of weeks. My realtor works for Crye-Leike Realty and they sent me an email to get appliances at a lower price if purchased through their program; they have a relationship with Lowe's. I already had an LG Fridge, washer and dryer on order from Lowe's but I sent my list to them to see if they could beat the sales price. Going through them would save me an additional $1500 so I cancelled my original order through Lowe's and asked them to give me another quote with the fridge in this video! No doubt it'll be much cheaper and I will definitely order it! Thanks for the great video! Also, I had an LG fridge with Instaview and door in door in my previous home and I loved it! Can't wait to hear my sister calling me bougie for ordering this!!
    Update: This is not the fridge I ordered. Go check out the LG STUDIO 24 cu. ft. Smart InstaView® Door-in-Door® Large Capacity Counter-Depth Refrigerator with Craft Ice™ Maker

    I think the difference in price you are seeing is the higher priced model offers something called Craft Ice, which is essentially ice balls. That is the one I'm going to buy but I can see how people wouldn't need that feature at all.

    I've just bought the current model of this fridge, which has the water and ice dispenser like yours, but where you have the ice bucket below, the newer fridge has another ice maker which makes spheres of ice, maybe 2 or 2.5 inches in diameter, it only makes 3 of them every 22 hours and can store 30 at any one time.
    It's crazy what fridges can do these days.

    • @sergioorozco9044

      Hi,
      How is your fridge holding up?

    • @milkshakemuncher
      @milkshakemuncher ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi, yeah the fridge is going well as far as operating wise.
      The downside is the minimal options of shelf height spacing without compromising other shelf heights.
      None of the shelves can hold a 600ml water bottle standing up unless you move a shelf up or down which severely reduces the other shelf height to the point where you can only fit your hand in with not much room, so very narrow height.
      There is one 1/2 shelf you can slide back to stand talker things but then you also lose half the width of the shelf above.
      If they made the fridge 80mm taller and reduced freezer height by 100mm, they could give each shelf a bit over 60mm height each and that would make it much better versatility wise and you wouldn't notice the loss of freezer space.
      The freezer section is huge!
      I have to lay my Pepsi Max 600ml and water 600ml bottles on their side and stack them in layers, so it would be no good even for a bar fridge in the shed.

We just bought a similar model at Lowe's (has the cool see-thru door, but not door-in-door) and when you're checking out it tells you that you need to buy a filter. We didn't add one to our order, as we couldn't imagine a fridge not coming with the filters you need to use it properly.

  • @ardade123
    @ardade123 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Its uncanny how similar your purchase of the LG and having a Samsung. I bought a Samsung when I purchased my new house and got the top of the line and I had the same issues, icing up and my wife and I just had enough of it even after the extended Home Depot warranty, we spent another $500 on a repair service, which by the way was hard to find anyone who wanted to touch a Samsung, referencing sealed system etc. We use a GE side by side in our garage for overflow etc, and we found ourselves loading up laundry baskets to move the food from the Samsung to it because the Samsung just gives out every few weeks. Everyone told us to stick to GE or Frigidaire, but they just don't offer the cool technology on their units, and perhaps for good reason. Jenn Air and Sub Zero were boring and just frankly out of our budget. I purchase the LG the other day, black one to match our kitchen decor and looking forward to getting it installed soon. We did go up a model or so with the waste pull out flex draw and craft ice but I really appreciate this video explaining all the other similar functionality. Thanks.

    I've also been looking at a similar model of LG fridge... basically the same one you have, only the side-by-side model with the door in door in the upper right. However, in researching refrigerators, I came across a class action lawsuit against LG for the linear compressor, and several other product reviews that mention the fridge failing shortly after people received it, again, because of cooling issues. Were you aware of the lawsuit? I'm wondering how much, if anything, they changed about the compressor since the lawsuit. I see that you answered someone else's comment 4 months ago and said you are still liking your fridge, so that's awesome!

I just look everywhere what people say and it is just all the same about the compressor. I just loved the fact that the children can have easy access. Love the look but...

    With enough stuff in the fridge that you need to spend time inspecting the contents in advance to ensure a surgical extraction without the cooled air escaping, realize there isn't much cold air to escape in a full fridge in the first place. And if the fridge is bare, how much advance scouting do you need? Sounds like too many people in marketing.

    Nice fridge and I wanted to buy it and the main reason was because of the cool looking glass door. The only problem is the light does not stay on and there is no option to keep it on! I think the LG product management team really made a mistake on this. There are very high end commercial looking refrigerators that have glass doors with lights what stay on and they look really cool. Also LG shows this door light feature in all of their marketing images, and it gives you the impression that the light would stay on. How could they miss this? Knocking on the door to get 30 seconds of light to see what beverages, you already know you have, is much less interesting than keeping the light on to give it a commercial refrigerator look especially for parties.
