    I managed to play it when it accidentally triggered in the PU last week, easily the best FPS PVE experience to have with a group of friends!

    • @RobotSpartan
      @RobotSpartan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      aye i can only imagine it to be substantially better with a group of friends instead of randoms! With how long it takes, it feels like something a major AAA FPS game would have as part of its story campaign

    Thanks for the video.
    I actually disagree with the need for subtle direction of where to go as I see this more as a mimick of potential real org battles on random locations in the future. In random planets with some outposts in org battles there will not be any of that either. Or even on an organically spawned mission where AI enemies drop in as reinforcements in some random forest on some moon.
    I rather like the fact that we can almost get lost for a bit, it adds to the feeling that this is an emergent situation instead of a crafted experience, which for me is what Star Citizen is about (well, among other things).

      You make some good points, and i do agree to an extent. But as this is a goal orientated mission, as opposed to a general "take and hold an area", you run the risk of players simply not getting to take part when those who know it rush on ahead. That causes a feedback loop where newer players never get to learn the full mission unless people explicitly show them ya know?
      Though to be clear, when i say subtle direction im not talking in terms of where specific mission goals are (like the lieutenants), but rather something that guides you between each of the shuttle platforms. You actually see this in real life, such as different carpet choices, or lighting temperature to direct foot traffic in a certain way.

      @@RobotSpartan Well that's also nice to prevent, but ultimately that's in the players' hands. If there's no voice comms you will always have this, no matter the subtle, or even blatant, direction: experienced 'raid runners' will always spoil the experience for newbs UNLESS they are crucial to the effort (then it becomes gated and you can only join when you've proven yourself). Eventually, reputation gating in SC and way more content will distribute players over groups that do or don't do these contents, and then it should calm down and be better organised by players themselves so that everyone feels and is a part of the effort. I see this as the short term inevitable situation of people jumping en masse on these because there's not plenty of new content every day.

    I find it funny that the creator is talking about subtle hints... but if you listen to the comm's messages and read the text (spoiler, its actually told to you when you accept the contract too), you'll know what you need to do. what he should say, is that players need to get access to a event VOIP while in the mission zone to coordinate the different parties that are present in the area.

    • @RobotSpartan
      @RobotSpartan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You've misunderstood the point i was making. It's not about guiding you through the mission, but rather, guiding you through the rather large platforms such that you dont spend 10 mins walking into dead ends.
      Whilst the comms tells you what the overarching goal is, it doesn't tell you say, how to get to the shuttle terminal. That is what i was referring to when i said subtle hints. As an example already in game, if you walk through lorville train stations, there are coloured lines on the floor which direct you to the various platforms of matching colour.
      As for an event VOIP, i actually like that idea quite a lot, its a good thought!

    • @FNLastname
      @FNLastname 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RobotSpartan there are maps of the platforms all around, you just need a few seconds not being shot at to look at the map, then the building layout to understand where things are. as for the navigation of the shuttles and ships, well it IS a small war zone lol. its not easy to make a map when a good bit of everything is caked with deployable cover, blown up bits of the platform and other random things. so overall, I like the layout. sure, it can be confusing at first, but if your not directionally challenged, and can remember where you came from, you should be fine.

    • @RobotSpartan
      @RobotSpartan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FNLastname The maps are useful that much is true, and honestly the only reason i was able to actually find anything. These are actually an example of the subtle hints i was referring to, but they're only good for giving a general idea as they lack resolution
      I agree with liking the layout, and that so long as you remember where you came from you'll mostly be fine with practice. Though it still doesn't mitigate you finding yourself in a few dozen dead ends :P

      @@radiofreeacab Wow, you're just gonna fill my comment section with this huh?
      Have you actually played it by any chance? watched whats been done over the years? Because believe me, if this is a scam, CR is straight up the worst scam artist in history, considering how much money they've spent on dev salaries, rent, computers, power etc. And we know how much they've spent; legally, its all reported to the government in the UK, and anyone can read it.
      There is a very big difference between "scam" and "poorly run". Calling this a scam just lowers the severity of the term, and means that when people call out actual scams (CoE, Earth 2, etc), it lowers the perceived risk.

    A bit late, but will the deployment of friendly armoured vehicle be possible?

    • @RobotSpartan

      So, you can't fly in yourself due to an AA presence (a LOT of AA...) and an NFZ surounding the area that pushes you away.
      There is however a plethora of ships around the area to use. Vehicles, not many, mostly PTV

    • @RobotSpartan
      @RobotSpartan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately it's only been tested in evo since this, so i cannot say. once it hits wave 1 testing i will confirm
      As for enemies getting harder each time, alas thats not how the event is designed; we as players don't really have power scaling in FPS combat so it wouldn't work

    • @sorrowinchrist3387
      @sorrowinchrist3387 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RobotSpartan I would suggest you ask them to have this scaling or the battles will become boring and players will moved on. And it just be a place for newbies where the Pro will ace it. Have they not learn from arcade maps like ARK. That once players got stronger then no longer explore the low level maps?
      When will you be able to test it?

    • @RobotSpartan
      @RobotSpartan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sorrowinchrist3387 Pros will always ace it though, thats the problem. I guess they could add more NPC's in heavy armour or with more dangerous weapons (like LMG's) but this isn't like division etc where NPC health scales (i.e. no bullet sponges). NPC skill DOES scale however, so i guess they could make it harder that way.
      Over time they will progressively increase difficulty regardless as player skill etc improves, or rather i'd assume they would or you'd run into the issue you posed which is no-one bothers with the low level stuff
      As for when, no idea. probably a week or two i'd say until wave 1 PTU

      you uh, do realise most modern AAA titles take almost a decade to make, right? With full studios from the get go? Well, those which aren't yearly asset flips like EA make anyway.
      It's a modern MMO. It should take 10-12 years to make. of course, any longer than 10-12 years (which is admittedly quickly encroaching) I'd be concerned.
      stop reading the kotaku bull shit, leave the cult, and actually play it while its free and make up your own mind instead of being a sheep that spams the same shite on random videos for no reason

    • @KashraFall
      @KashraFall 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RobotSpartan You'd be quite wrong. AAA games do not take 10+ years to make. There simply isn't a budget big enough from publishers to support that. CDPR took 7-10 years because it was published by them and they also got assistance from their government. CoD comes out like candy, Battlefield like candy etc. Hell even RDR2, arguably one of the best looking games was only like 6-8 years of ACTUAL development. So dunno where you got the 10 year thing...cause that's just silly and they certainly don't take 500+million to make, but eh, you can't convince everyone.

    • @RobotSpartan
      @RobotSpartan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KashraFall I said "almost" a decade, not 10+ years, please don't twist my words. Examples I'd consider within that "almost a decade" are CP77 (9 years), RDR2 (8). Horizon zero dawn (7) etc.
      COD and BF are amongst those "yearly asset flips" i mentioned. Along with FIFA, Madden etc.
      i also made the distinction that those games began dev with a full studio, as opposed to SC which was 3 guys in a basement at first, and that's obviously gonna add a couple years. They're also self publishing. This is why i say i expect it would take 10-12 years.
      I also made clear that past that 10-12 years, i'd start to get concerned, and we're in that window. If you read a lot of my comments, i'm actually quite cynical when it comes to SC and it's production, and that's specifically because of that. Once we get past 12 years, unless they've clearly shown that they have the stuff in place needed to make the game actually work as a large scale MMO (which they claim they now have in testing, but thats yet to be seen), i can assure you ill start moving away from cynicism to criticism
