I had only heard of Ross as an actor in a soap I never watched, but this commands respect. His honest but supportive reporting from Afghanistan was impressive and compelling, as he and his crew put their asses on the line. Talking with family of the bereaved back in the UK was sensitively done, tough watching, but made the story complete. Well done Ross.

I'm not in the armed forces so I can't speak of any combat experience or firearms training, I don't know what it's like to be in this situation but I will say this: I appreciate brave reporters willing to risk their lives to at least give us a glimpse of what these young men go through everyday in their jobs. A shame we don't have any sort of attention to what armed forces do in my own country but it's nice to know that, at least somewhere, soldiers get some recognition for their bravery and the struggles they go through.
