For me the best pre meds are physical therapy, medical technology, nursing, pharmacy dahil lumaki ako sa tinatawag nila na "doctors family" nakita ko ang mga advantages netong ng pre med courses na ito..my mom took nursing now pediatrician na sya.my dad took medical technology ngayon internal medicine doctor na sya ..my sister took pharmacy currently nag s-study pa sya i think mag O-OB Sya ..my brother took nursing also and maging pediatrician ang gusto nya like my mom.my tito took physical therapy and now osteopathic doctor na sya..my tita dentist sya pero still doctor din naman sya..and my another tita she took BS psychology now psychiatrist na sya.my grand mother she took medical technology when she was in college pa and dermatologist sya..my lolo naman dentist sya.and ako naman hindi ko alam kung mag memed ako pero interested talaga ako maging doctor..pero sa college desidido na talaga ako na kunin ang medical technology pero if mag dodoctor talaga ako mag n-nursing ako💚

Nursing of course!!! In your 2nd year of college, you're already exposed in the hospital, doing interventions for the patient, and delivering a baby, and assisting in medical surgical. Nursing is all about skills💕 You can consider nursing when you want to be an OB GYNE because nursing have the subject maternal and child nursing for 2 years
BS Medical Technology is so underrated. Its subjects are all taken in med school and that could really help out a lot. Hello master panda bear. yung ate ko graduate siya ng medtech sabi niya mas madali daw yung medicine ngayon kaysa nung nagaaral siya ng medtech. Nung medtech daw siya puro critical analysis tapos ngayong medicine puro memorization na lang daw. Honest opinion ko pero ha... Graduating medtech student ako, hindi masaya.. Iresearch mong mabuti... of course, nursing. who else works closer to doctors than nurses :) decision making (most of the time) happen between both. so yea, i'm glad I took the right pre med degree.
The best Pre med course for me is Physical Therapy. During 3rd year PT we have the same subjects like Anatomy, Physiology, Histology, Pathology and Psychiatry synchronous with First year Medicine. And we use the same books. PT’s also have Orthopedics,Neuro, Cardio,Pulmo, and Pharma. PT’s are also trained to assess, examine, evaluate patients and at the same time provide treatments. Just my thought.
And now we have new curriculum cuz of k12 and 1st year PT students now taking anatomy and physiology already and other necessary subs, btw we also required of atlas of anatomy which is a must book for sure in med , PT is very good pre med 😙

Just a reminder that college is hard kaya enjoyin niyo yung course na dapat gusto niyo. As I read the comments, andaming gento ganyan. First, we all have different perspective in life. Kung gusto mo med tech edi sige mag med tech ka as long as gusto mo yon. Walang magandang pre med talaga. Shinishape lang tayo ng pre-med para maging magaling na doktor tayo someday. As a Biology student, sobrang enjoy talaga kasi hindi lang sa human kami nag aaral kundi sa mga plants and animal at para sa akin, hindi lang tao dapat pagtuunan ng pansin kundi other living organism kasi part sila ng mundo :)

Masaya siya kung trip mo pag-aralan yang mga yan. Lalo na ngayong may pandemic, mas mahalaga na ngayon para sa akin ang Bio dahil may mga subjects kami nung pre med palang tungkol sa virus at about sa genetic engineering kaya naiintidihan namin yung mga PCR Test na ginagawa sa COVID testing kahit pre med palang kami. Meron din naman about sa human. May major kang pipiliin Medical Biology ang tawag. Yung mga subjects doon ay mga basic subjects sa med school. Ang nakakalungkot lang kasi ngayon, gusto nila magfocus sa tao. Gusto nila pag-aralan ang buhay ng tao pero hindi nila alam na mas mahalaga rin ang buhay ng iba.
i'm so happy to find someone who took bs psych as a pre-med huhu. i was doubting on my course since i've been watching med school videos and almost all of them either took medtech or pharma. i took psych because it seemed fitting on the type of doctor i dream to be, a developmental-behavioral pediatrician. will be taking my undergrad at ust this AY 20'-21' and hoping to also be a USTMED doctor in the future 🐯💛 i still have a looooooong way to go, but i'll get that MD no matter what it takes. thank you for the very inspiring vid Doc! @@Meggutz first sem, we were taught how to do head to foot "cephalocaudal" assessment or Physical assessment. One subject intended yung PA sa Health Assessment, and that subject will slowly change your perception on how you view people you see HAHAHA kasi if you see abnormalities sa mata nila, you'll immediately say "ah, exophthalmos". It's a bit demanding even pa lang ngayon. I've been re-evaluating my life na HAHAHHA. But it's fun. Nasa second sem na ako ngayon :)

In my opinion, medtech is the best premed course. We have the general subjs like genzoo and anaphy and biochem and inorg+org chem during first year. And then from 2nd-3rd year, we have clinical chemistry, histology, histopathology, pathology, bacteriology, parasitology, mycology+virology, pharma, immunology/serology, pharmacology and more ☺️
If you're going to study to be a higher health professional, biochemistry is a really good undergraduate major because that's where medicine/health science is now. Things are done at the molecular level. My two cents. Thanks!
For me nursing is the best pre med course kasi d kana mahihirapan sa Clinical duty like physical assessment ,intervention , assisting Doctors in Operating room and also in administraion of drugs especially clinical triage.
I'm currently a 10th grade student. I initially wanted to become an English teacher like my mom but it looks like it's not meant for me. Doctor pala. Malaking problema ang tuition ng med school kasi hindi naman kami mayaman pero may kaya naman ang parents ko. Biology was my first choice to take in college but it turns out that I'm not interested in plants and animals; in general, kasama ang botany and zoology.; mapipilitan lang ako. Medical technology was my second choice kaso ayaw ng dad ko magmedtech ako. He suggested that I should take up nursing instead, which I finally decided, as my pre-medical degree. I might not handle Medtech because I'm poor in chemistry. I hope my dreams will come true. Mahirap magdoctor pero hindi talaga ako susuko. Sabi nga ni Naruto "Hardwork is worthless for those that don't believe in themselves" Aspiring RN and MD ❤️

para sa akin hindi totoo na walang best premed course. 1. for medical school acceptance - pinakamadali makakuha ng mataas na gpa ang psychology kumpara sa physical therapy or nursing 2. I think medical technology is the most rounded premed course because of its curriculum. it offers a good foundation for the basic sciences not a med tech major
Mas makikita seguro yung advantage ng nursing na under grad lalo na may ilang taong hospital work experience in ER and ICU bago mag med school at mag rural health physician di kaya DTTB sa mga remote areas na kulang sa resources. Imagine nalang yung struggle bilang bagong doktor sa remote area lalo galing ka sa well off family, galing mamahaling private school, di sanay makikisalamuha sa iba lalo na sa mahihirap at masyadong pampered na pinakamahirap na experience bago mag med school ay mag commute at mag aral then Intarmed, Leapmed, Humanbio, BS bio, Psych, Med tech ka pa.

Bs. Respiratory Therapy may, ana with cadavers physio neuro microbio biochemistry pathology pharmacology acid base chemistry patient assessment and ecg, critical care chest x rays at equipments. Pag walang hininga all the organs will fail due to acidosis.

did your friends who graduated w pharmacy, med tech, & the like took up their respective board exams? are they licensed or did they directly proceed w/o acquiring their license?
If you wanna know if it's okay to proceed to med w/o a license it's totally fine. Some people take the boards just so they could add it to their title. And also put in mind that you are ranked as well as the pool of aspiring applicants who are vying for that dream med school, it is an advantage to have taken and passed the boards as it will help in your ranking but it's not actually necessary.
@@pa3cia126 med school is extremely rigorous. I don't suggest that you do both at the same time. Give your 100% focus on one thing at a time. But if you're the type of person who could handle studying all that you have learned in a semester during your undergrad only for a single night for an exam in medschool plus studying for the boards then it's okay. After all "you do you".

Once naka graduate kana in your respective health sciences courses mas maganda if you focus on NMAT first rather than your boards kasi para di ka masiyadong burnt out. You can take naman your boards if first-year med student kana. No pressure
Med tech since it will prep you for Med school since you study like a med student and during your 2nd yr proper most of the subjects in med tech is in med school. The downside of med tech is that the passing grade for med tech is 85 if u can’t maintain it your out.

If you're willing to take Medicine. I suggest kahit anong mga Health Sciences related programs. It doesn't really matter kasi in the end Medicine rin yung bagsak mo.

any of the two, both courses are really good, pharmacy is also a really good premed course :) it's super helpful if you're really good in pharma because then it would be easy for you to identify treatments :)
Wala pong best pre-med kahit anong health sciences programs ang kukunin mo is still okay kasi Med din yung bagsak mo. I also agree na maganda PT kasi in-depth sa Anatomy which is essential if you're planning to take Cardio as your speciality.
I agree with doc ian that there really isn't a perfect premed course. My advice to those who are contemplating on what course to take is choose what interests you the most. It really helps when you have the passion for your chosen course because when the time comes that you're exhausted and burnt out, it will make you think if you chose the right course. Nagshift ako from pharmacy to medtech because di ko talaga pinagisipan and di rin ako nagresearch nung hs ako. Bulakbol lang ako nung pharma ako until nalaman ko na may medtech course pala haha. Nagshift ako, sooooobrang interested ko sa mga subjects at sobrang napadali yung college life ko nung nagshift ako bc may passion na ko abt sa tinetake ko. Even if it took me 5 years, I can say that I have no regrets. And now, incoming 2nd year med student na ko. 👩🏼⚕️
For me same insights lang with intarmed. I mean, i dont want na maburn out, and hindi rin naman ako suuuper nagmamadali haha so ayaw ko na pahirapan sarili ko with it. It's nice to have summer breaks in between because I swear, you need all these breaks to relax and stay sane.
How about those who entered Intramed program po? They'll only undergo their pre-med for two years, ano po yung pwede niyo pong i-suggest na pre-med for them?
This is LeapMed - BS Basic Human Studies. 3600 php po ang entrance exam and aside from english, sci, math may additional entrace test subjects like anatomy, zoology, botany, etc. I know parang Top 200 na 90 ang matitira na kukunin nila. Very competitive since thousandths ang nag-aapply. But in case you failed, of you have high scores in english, sci, math & mental ability, pwede kang mamili ng undergrad sa ust.
It doesn't but my dad who is a doctor took up bs psych as a pre-med told me that he should've took up nursing as his premed because it develops your "clinical eye" and the course is really hands on, and a lot of their subjects will be taken up in med sch
Dapat college grad ka best talaga if pre-med course kuha mo tapos after college take NMAT and make sure you pass the exam then you can enroll med school na. 🙂

Bsed-biology here matatawag ba ito na pre-med doc since yung mga subj. na required nila like biochem,physics,bio etc. meron kami kasi balak kung kunin sa med School as "Surgeon" 😊 thanks po sa response😊.

My opinion would be BS PT. Kasi madaming anatomy and it will be very beneficial sa pagiging surgeon mo. Still, it depends on you kung san ka field/pre-med usto mag pursue. 😊
I suggest nursing, its the only undergraduate course that offers the subject medical-surgical, it also lets you experience an operating room duty so you get to scrub in operations in your third year.

i'm so happy to find someone who took bs psych as a pre-med huhu. i was doubting on my course since i've been watching med school videos and almost all of them either took medtech or pharma. i took psych because it seemed fitting on the type of doctor i dream to be, a developmental-behavioral pediatrician. will be taking my undergrad at ust this AY 20'-21' and hoping to also be a USTMED doctor in the future 🐯💛 i still have a looooooong way to go, but i'll get that MD no matter what it takes.

@@Meggutz first sem, we were taught how to do head to foot "cephalocaudal" assessment or Physical assessment. One subject intended yung PA sa Health Assessment, and that subject will slowly change your perception on how you view people you see HAHAHA kasi if you see abnormalities sa mata nila, you'll immediately say "ah, exophthalmos". It's a bit demanding even pa lang ngayon. I've been re-evaluating my life na HAHAHHA. But it's fun. Nasa second sem na ako ngayon :)

I'm currently taking BS Nursing as my pre-med course. All I can say is that stressful sya both knowledge-based and performance-based pero idk FUN talaga sya and ma learn mo ma love ang course. In my opinion, medtech is the best premed course. We have the general subjs like genzoo and anaphy and biochem and inorg+org chem during first year. And then from 2nd-3rd year, we have clinical chemistry, histology, histopathology, pathology, bacteriology, parasitology, mycology+virology, pharma, immunology/serology, pharmacology and more ☺️

If you're going to study to be a higher health professional, biochemistry is a really good undergraduate major because that's where medicine/health science is now. Things are done at the molecular level. My two cents. Thanks!
For me nursing is the best pre med course kasi d kana mahihirapan sa Clinical duty like physical assessment ,intervention , assisting Doctors in Operating room and also in administraion of drugs especially clinical triage.

Malaking problema ang tuition ng med school kasi hindi naman kami mayaman pero may kaya naman ang parents ko. Biology was my first choice to take in college but it turns out that I'm not interested in plants and animals; in general, kasama ang botany and zoology.; mapipilitan lang ako. Medical technology was my second choice kaso ayaw ng dad ko magmedtech ako. He suggested that I should take up nursing instead, which I finally decided, as my pre-medical degree. I might not handle Medtech because I'm poor in chemistry. I hope my dreams will come true. Mahirap magdoctor pero hindi talaga ako susuko. Sabi nga ni Naruto "Hardwork is worthless for those that don't believe in themselves"

I might get bored along the way in biology (as for me) I also want an interactive course where I can practice basic med (like talking to patients, wearing scrubs, shifting time, diagnosis and such) for me to get more motivated and continue what I’m doing, to be able to love more of my course and to adapt. Mas makikita seguro yung advantage ng nursing na under grad lalo na may ilang taong hospital work experience in ER and ICU bago mag med school at mag rural health physician di kaya DTTB sa mga remote areas na kulang sa resources. Imagine nalang yung struggle bilang bagong doktor sa remote area lalo galing ka sa well off family, galing mamahaling private school, di sanay makikisalamuha sa iba lalo na sa mahihirap at masyadong pampered na pinakamahirap na experience bago mag med school ay mag commute at mag aral then Intarmed, Leapmed, Humanbio, BS bio, Psych, Med tech ka pa.
BSRT can also be a good pre med course if you want to be a pulmonologist (as per my sister)

Yes! life sci is the same as bio, the difference is 4 years lang yun. Bio in admu is 5 years.

did your friends who graduated w pharmacy, med tech, & the like took up their respective board exams? are they licensed or did they directly proceed w/o acquiring their license?
If you wanna know if it's okay to proceed to med w/o a license it's totally fine.
Some people take the boards just so they could add it to their title.
And also put in mind that you are ranked as well as the pool of aspiring applicants who are vying for that dream med school, it is an advantage to have taken and passed the boards as it will help in your ranking but it's not actually necessary.

@@pa3cia126 med school is extremely rigorous. I don't suggest that you do both at the same time. Give your 100% focus on one thing at a time. But if you're the type of person who could handle studying all that you have learned in a semester during your undergrad only for a single night for an exam in medschool plus studying for the boards then it's okay. After all "you do you".

Once naka graduate kana in your respective health sciences courses mas maganda if you focus on NMAT first rather than your boards kasi para di ka masiyadong burnt out. You can take naman your boards if first-year med student kana. No pressure
Med tech since it will prep you for Med school since you study like a med student and during your 2nd yr proper most of the subjects in med tech is in med school. The downside of med tech is that the passing grade for med tech is 85 if u can’t maintain it your out.

If you're willing to take Medicine. I suggest kahit anong mga Health Sciences related programs. It doesn't really matter kasi in the end Medicine rin yung bagsak mo.

any of the two, both courses are really good, pharmacy is also a really good premed course :) it's super helpful if you're really good in pharma because then it would be easy for you to identify treatments :)

Hey! I would like to suggest that if you want to be a cardiologist, try BS PT. And if passing NMAT, it would be Nursing.
Wala pong best pre-med kahit anong health sciences programs ang kukunin mo is still okay kasi Med din yung bagsak mo. I also agree na maganda PT kasi in-depth sa Anatomy which is essential if you're planning to take Cardio as your speciality.
What about BS Public Health po?
I agree with doc ian that there really isn't a perfect premed course. My advice to those who are contemplating on what course to take is choose what interests you the most. It really helps when you have the passion for your chosen course because when the time comes that you're exhausted and burnt out, it will make you think if you chose the right course. Nagshift ako from pharmacy to medtech because di ko talaga pinagisipan and di rin ako nagresearch nung hs ako. Bulakbol lang ako nung pharma ako until nalaman ko na may medtech course pala haha. Nagshift ako, sooooobrang interested ko sa mga subjects at sobrang napadali yung college life ko nung nagshift ako bc may passion na ko abt sa tinetake ko. Even if it took me 5 years, I can say that I have no regrets. And now, incoming 2nd year med student na ko. 👩🏼⚕️

For me same insights lang with intarmed. I mean, i dont want na maburn out, and hindi rin naman ako suuuper nagmamadali haha so ayaw ko na pahirapan sarili ko with it. It's nice to have summer breaks in between because I swear, you need all these breaks to relax and stay sane.
How about those who entered Intramed program po? They'll only undergo their pre-med for two years, ano po yung pwede niyo pong i-suggest na pre-med for them?

This is LeapMed - BS Basic Human Studies. 3600 php po ang entrance exam and aside from english, sci, math may additional entrace test subjects like anatomy, zoology, botany, etc. I know parang Top 200 na 90 ang matitira na kukunin nila. Very competitive since thousandths ang nag-aapply. But in case you failed, of you have high scores in english, sci, math & mental ability, pwede kang mamili ng undergrad sa ust.

Bsed-biology here matatawag ba ito na pre-med doc since yung mga subj. na required nila like biochem,physics,bio etc. meron kami kasi balak kung kunin sa med School as "Surgeon" 😊 thanks po sa response😊.
Any 4-5 year course is a premed course naman po. It doesn't really matter as long as you meet the school's requirements. Good luck, doc!

Any way, lahat naman ng pre-med pwedeng marelate sa surgery. Specialty lang kasi ang surgery pag nag med school ka na.
I suggest nursing, its the only undergraduate course that offers the subject medical-surgical, it also lets you experience an operating room duty so you get to scrub in operations in your third year.
