Honestly on board with this. I like people being more supporting towards hiatuses after Miura's passing. These people make amazing stories, but they're still human beings
No fuck hiatuses as a HxH and Berserk fan personally. Author schedules need to be revamped entirely. The most important thing is the authors health but keeping fans waiting or getting an incomplete story after waiting is not fair to the fans.
Oswald Robinson Why do artist create public art in the first place? For the consumption of the fans and public in general, especially when they sign up with a publisher. The authors health is crucial but they’re nothing without the fans. You cannot have one without the other. I hope Gege gets better but the manga community does not need another series to go on indefinite hiatus.
I support hiatuses but your reasoning is wrong. Miura was actually in top shape before he died. The people that knew him reported that he had no health issues or risks, and he was taking care of himself well. The acute aortic dissection he died from was an untimely cause.
I support this. Akutami clearly was struggling with the unfinished chapters(which I don't care if I like or dislike a series, that is truly an unfortunate situation when you can't get work finished) and as you mentioned mental and physical health which matter. Heck, Horikoshi of MHA was in a similar situation with the Cultural Festival arc as he had unfinished pages. He apologized in the volume for it. So yeah; my hope is that Jump will be a lot more leinent towards at least their established mangaka with regards to breaks. Yes, it is perfect sound and valid to criticize their art/ craft. But they are people at the end of the day and we all have a breaking point. It's best to minimize those and get these individuals so that way they are healthy. And in the process they can produce the best work.
Due to Miura sensei's "sacrifice" everyone is more aware of the struggle of being a mangaka. I hope gege takes his break so he can keep writing this masterpiece. Edit: just letting y'all know I don't mean Miura's sacrifice was a good thing. It's just that now thanks to him people are more aware and appreciative of authors.
wasn't a sacrifice wtf, someone shouldn't need to die too see how harsh it is being a mangaka let alone being in weekly magazine, people have known about this for years
@@intriguedclaptrap5776 people have known about it but people didn't start really giving a fuck untill Miura died, which is quite sad it took a death due to stress/overworking for people to start caring
@@intriguedclaptrap5776 I didn't mean anything bad by it. I'm not saying what happened to him was a good thing. I'm just saying people were really ignorant about it until after his death.
It is true, but Miura's passing had nothing to do with his poor conditions, his editors said he was very healthy and he wasn't rushing with work, he learned that lesson during the golden age arc, where he was at his worst.
Don't understand why shounen jump doesn't go Bi-weekly, or at the very least make a rota for half the magazine to come out week 1 and the second half week 2, doubling the time the mangaka get to make 1 chapter, which inevitably will benefit their health and im theory gives them more time to work on their stories potentially making them better.
I think it's a bit crazy that there seems to be one expectation for other artists especially in a place like the U.S. where most TV shows are released in spurts with long periods off and years between books and musical albums while it's such a big deal when a mangaka goes on hiatus. I've seen people bemoaning things as minor as one week hiatuses and while I'm always sad when there isn't a new chapter of a manga I'm following I don't want to be that kind of consumer and I strongly encourage manga fans to make support the nor and expect hiatuses and just shrug it off and when it's for health issues just send the mangaka positive vibes we need to get past the toxic consumerism of thinking we deserve a new chapter each week or each month. Instead, we need to remember that the creation of art takes time and a toll on the creator and encourage more built in breaks and vacations for them so they don't end up taking forced hiatuses because they aren't doing well physically or emotionally. Does anyone know a way to send Gege well wishes? I don't know how to send fanmail to my favorite mangaka and would love to send them a note to tell them how much the characters they create mean to me :)
They need to take breaks for the longest time . I bet all of from what ever series you are reading you can agree they have to take more care for there health after Kentaro sadly passed away . I would rather wait if needed for new chapter instead of the mangaka have to rush out every months . Remembered instead of attack them on Twitter for dumb things please take a min to think they could be going health problem so it's not worth it.
I hope Gege can take this time to sure up the plot and the events that unfold. That way the dtory can be seamless and it'll take some stress off when he gets back to drawing
waiting for more hurts, but the mere thought of him pushing himself too far just to try and keep on such a hellish schedule while sick hurts more. I'm happy he's taking a break.
It´s amazing how people really don't get thtat the reason of the artwork being so sketchy last chapter was intentional and due to the cursed technique that was being displayed...
Nah. That would make sense if the actual backgrounds didn't look perfect compared to the characters fighting. Gege's just good enough that it seems like it makes sense that the technique would be causing that.
Damn, I remember some of the pannels being sloppy in recent chapters. I thought that it was early signs of exhaustion from the mangaka. I remember this happening to YuYu Hakusho back in the day and how the author rushed the ending because of this. Hope he gets well and takes his time to recover.
