THANKS JEFF I did my lawn tractor for the longest time I could not figure it out but since I seen your video I did it step-by-step and everything worked out great I'm so happy I watched your video thanks again
Thank you for a great video that explained the letters on an ignition switch, saved me a ton of time and stress...not to mention blown fuses by my “trial and error” attempts!
thank you for taking the time to make this short film i put a kohler engine where there was a briggs and needed to figure out how to wire the kohler i can wire a briggs all day
Brother thank you!!! i have a kohler cv22 on a craftsman frame with keyed switch been looking all over youtube for someone with the same key as mine who could explain how to SIMPLY wire the stupid thing...thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Thank you! ,for your time and share some of your knowledge! Definitely a fan of how you explained this how to. Looking forward to exploring more of your channel. Stay safe and best wishes to you and yours!! Wilmington N.C.
Thanks this helped out immensely we where doing an engine swap on our racing lawn mower and we where using the stock harness off the donor mower and once we figured out the wires and where they went it was just a bunch of soldering
Thanks for the video, im swapping engines on a mower from pull start to electric so have to do it from scratch. i have the same ignition key so hope it will work.
Jeff, awesome video. Very simple and easy to understand. I am working on my first riding lawn mower. The wiring is a mess. My question involves wiring to the alternator. One side goes to the lights. According to the video the other side should run the positive side of the battery, correct? I'm working on an old Montgomery Ward Briggs and Stratton lawn mower. It's probably an older version of a Craftsman.
Great video! Very easy to follow. I do have a question, if you were going to add lights to that lawnmower, would you just need an ignition with 6 prongs?
I've got a sears tractor just like this but with a hydraulic bucket on the front, it's been sitting for years and Ik it doesn't start, and I'm sure the hydraulics don't work well, so basically if I do anything to it the entire thing will need to be restored, I figured the easiest way to get it to run is to put a brand new motor in it, is it hard to swap out motors like this one I want to keep the outside original so I don't want the motor side ways and sticking out
hey ive watched the rewiring video with your chicken attack in background good video! my question is can i rewire any kolher even with the SAM and powered mag. or do i have to put a standard mag on then get rid of sam??
one question, the magneto connection, does it connect to the ground of the magneto from the switch or the positive side of the magneto? mine is probably a 96 model motor, so my magnetos have two connection tabs on them.
Got a donated mower for me to use and the connector to the rectifier is/was melting and the wires were smoking while I mowed my lawn. While looking at it, after it was shut down and cooled a bit, I learned a ton about rectifiers.... someone soldered two yellow wires to the AC inputs on the rectifier. 🤔 Snipped the 2 yellow wires and now, hallelujah, the battery is getting almost 14 volts. Now, what the heck do I do with these 2 yellow wires?
Hello...I have a question for you...I have a Kohler engine on my craftsman riding mower...how do I connect the stator direct to my battery..my stator has 3 wires ...one purple and two green wires ..one of the green wires has a clip connector on the end which is not connected to anything ...I'm trying to rewire my mower ...can ane please help ...thank you n God bless
Random question, I cut the kill switch chord years ago and never had any issues. I wrapped the cut chord with electrical tape. All off the sudden I have a 30 watt fuse blowing almost every time I run the mower, it’s a cheap fix but there’s got to be a better way than buying a 100 fuses lol
Jeff's Little Engine Service this really helped me about the fuel solenoid I was hot-wiring a Cub Cadet lt1050 because somebody stole the key ignition switch off of it and it just would not turn over after seeing this video I realize there was a fuel solenoid as soon as I sent power to the fuel solenoid it cranks right up awesome video
question... what if i have a electronic engagement for the mower deck? I had my 86 12hp hydrostatic craftsman 38" out cutting and it cut out. time went by, I found your video and rewired the whole tractor. its turn key and running like a champ. However, I cannot get the deck to engage... any ideas?
That helps a lot. Thank you for making the video. I do have a question... At the end of the video when you attempt to start it, it just clicks and doesn't start. You then release the switch and restart it and it cranks. What causes that 1st click or failed start? I've heard it so many times but have never been able to figure it out.
good question! What I discovered later on this mower was a faulty ground cable right off of the battery. You can see how rusty it is in the video. I saw sparks from the connection on the frame one day when trying to start it and discovered how rusty the connection was. A bad ground. I sanded the area down to bare metal and reattached. Seems to work alot better now!~ :)
I have the same tractor 1982 Craftsman GTV 16 I was mowing the lawn the other day everything was fine I put it in neutral to pick up something and then I put it in 3rd gear and it wouldn't go put it in first gear it would go and then I tried second gear hesitated then it went and it went and then after that it wouldn't go in any gear not first not second not third not even reverse any idea thank you appreciate it
Tried to find out about wiring. My troybilt has 4 wires to engine new engine only has 3 2 red and one black. Troybilt wires are 2 red one black and one yellow I think. The engine wiring diagram says the 2 red splice together. Help!!!!
I would disagree with one thing. You ran the charging wire directly to the battery positive vis the solenoid. In that situation the stator is forever energized. I run mine to a switched post on the starter switch. That does two things, it keeps the stator and related wires dead when the switch is off, and runs the charging current through the fuse on the way to the battery. Make sense?
Very very confusing the way you explained even though you claim it easy! What is the deal hooking up a white wire to a red wire no easy way to identify what your doing! I’m sorry I don’t sound enthusiastic but this is just plain crazy! Nothing is logical! Not to me anyway and I am certainly not electrical savvy I’ll be the first to admit it! But this hard to follow path of how the wires flowed no explanation of how to hook up no explanation of wires of different colors I’m more confused now than when I first started video! By the way you engine vids are spot on I wanna say those I enjoy but this electric you ran is way to confusing
I’ve watch dozens of riding lawn mower wiring videos and yours is by far the most informative and straight forward. Solid camera work too. Thank you
Thanks friend!
Best Video I have watched so far on wiring. Simple, to the point, and no extra blah blah blah. Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
THANKS JEFF I did my lawn tractor for the longest time I could not figure it out but since I seen your video I did it step-by-step and everything worked out great I'm so happy I watched your video thanks again
Great to hear!
I've been struggling with a motor swap. Ten minutes after watching your video it is running. Thank you my friend!
This was an easy-to-follow, excellent video showing EXACTLY what I needed to install an ignition switch to a Tecumseh starter motor. Thank you!
Thank you for a great video that explained the letters on an ignition switch, saved me a ton of time and stress...not to mention blown fuses by my “trial and error” attempts!
Nô in my m
Best simple explanation I have seen on this topic.
thank you for taking the time to make this short film i put a kohler engine where there was a briggs and needed to figure out how to wire the kohler i can wire a briggs all day
Consider making a vido of how to do it on a briggs. :-)

First video that makes some sense ty so much. You could dumb it down a bit more lmao . I need all the help I can get
Raw and down to earth! 👍
keepin it real!
Thanks for the video, im swapping engines on a mower from pull start to electric so have to do it from scratch. i have the same ignition key so hope it will work.
I had a leaky fuel solenoid so I just used a bolt from another scrap carb without the solenoid. Works great. No leak
Yeah I hate the fuel solenoids. They have a good purpose, but they are a pain in the ass because they mess up at the most inconvenient times.
Your voice sounds so much like a young Michael Douglas.
gunna give it a go tomorrow,thanks heaps.,,,sam.
thanks been wondering where to put cable to turn it off been choking it to stop it
Thanks for the great vidio!
Glad you liked it!

yes one goes to the lights
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
Great video! Very easy to follow. I do have a question, if you were going to add lights to that lawnmower, would you just need an ignition with 6 prongs?
There is a few differnt ways to do this. I would try those methods first before getting a new Ig switch.
that really help's thank you jeff
I really like the way you explain thank your
Okay I'm watching it
Thanks great vid, i got a little confused on the wiring clip connection though.
I got it working but the stator wires were black n red and when I hooked one up it started smoking, so I don't have a batt. Regen. Hooked up yet
So where do I put the wire from the switch that has b for battery? Do I put it to the large post on the solenoid that the battery hooks to? TIA

How would I install and hook yp lights to a older hydrostatic 46" john deer with a Kohler motor?
Search TH-cam for "How to add a lighting circuit on a lawnmower"
hey ive watched the rewiring video with your chicken attack in background good video! my question is can i rewire any kolher even with the SAM and powered mag. or do i have to put a standard mag on then get rid of sam??
not sure what a SAM is

Thanks for the video coo Rooster
Is there a way to conect a wire to my starter directly to my battery for my lawn mower?
No simple way to do this Santos that I know of.

Can I make a video of changing a smart switch ignition to a keyed ignition on a 2014 Craftsman GT 5500 24 horsepower Briggs motor
So how does the carb. solenoid hook up?
Hello...I have a question for you...I have a Kohler engine on my craftsman riding mower...how do I connect the stator direct to my battery..my stator has 3 wires ...one purple and two green wires ..one of the green wires has a clip connector on the end which is not connected to anything ...I'm trying to rewire my mower ...can ane please help ...thank you n God bless
I do not have the stator wiring codes for Kohler.
The stator/ diode may need replacing
My mower didn’t have a rectify thing, one of the stator wires went to the ignition switch and went back to the battery to charge it
Question what does the three stand for
3 speed transmission
I know this video is a little old but I have a question? Are you basically putting constant power (once it's turned on) to the fuel solenoid?
yes
Jeff's Little Engine Service this really helped me about the fuel solenoid I was hot-wiring a Cub Cadet lt1050 because somebody stole the key ignition switch off of it and it just would not turn over after seeing this video I realize there was a fuel solenoid as soon as I sent power to the fuel solenoid it cranks right up awesome video

yes due to a bad ground. same thing applies to vehicles. when your friends clunker just clicks and clicks, check the ground

Im hoping you can help me with my sons racing mower
Runs now
What gauge are the cables?

thx helpful but the motor you got junk I had three they all blew the same way they will rev real fast then blow out the back
I have a Husqvasna 26.0 hp and when ever I turn the key switch the fuse blow , what would cause that.
check the 2 wires on the blade clutch located underneath the engine. sometimes they get scuffed up
🔥🔥🔥🔥

Good tip
I wired my mower up as directed? My wife's TV came on when I turned the key. But,it's ok. I would rather watch TV than cut grass
Can u tell me the sizes of the belts I can’t remember the sizes
it was too long ago sorry
Jeff's Little Engine Service do u still have it
How to fix a broken wire on a salidnord on riding lawnmower
you can do it, splicing wires together is easy peasey
Stupid safety systems, who cares if I fall off drunk and it runs over me with the blades turning ,
Ok
