I think I'll try to find a spot to mount that remote and cut the band off when I get it. Was thinking maybe mounting it in the lower pocket or below the cluster on the right side with some double sided tape, somewhere where it won't be an eyesore.

Sorry, that was misleading. It’s not available on the TL. The step where you throw things right behind the screen is available in other cars I was saying. I actually have this unit for sale cause I just pulled it out that I could sell to you cheap. Lemme know

Good question! I say the biggest thing is the Apple CarPlay display lets you see multiple things at the same time and it's geared towards driving. A good example is you can see full navigation directions, music info, and upcoming calendar info all in one view. Also while in car play it auto-reads each message that comes in which is sorta nice. Finally, with method, you get more of an original car look vs having the dashboard phone mount.
With the model I have in the TL the back up camera will NOT display unless you hit a button to switch back to the regular display. I have a set up in another car and in that car it does automatically kick to the back up cam and back

@@dabidscoo1 I haven't yet. The only down side is that once you repurpose it for the Apple Car Play it won't work with the OEM set up unless you added a switch or something. Also it would likely be quite the project...I think what might be more practical is taking the steering wheel remote and mounting it flush to some place other than the steering wheel. Like to the left of the gauge cluster where the traction control button is wouldn't be a bad spot. Also behind where you put the key in would work. Or to the left the cigarettes lighter there is a small spot in the cubby. Those are where I've mounted buttons and switches in my last TL...
i have a 2010 odyssey, we have the same screen, same wiring unit sent from navtool. how did you connect your remote wire in? i cannot get mine to turn on. i currently have the remote blaster plugged into the green 4 pin.
Ummm, you might need to get an electrical tester and make sure the wire your tapping shows +12v when the car is in on and nothing when your car is off. Worst case scenario, you could run it to your fuse box and connect it somewhere obvious
Question I have and Acura tl 07 looks identical to yours but my screen or clock doesn’t work it’s just all black it turns on sometimes if I bought this would it still not work or would I need a whole new unit

Sounds like it could be a connector or something loose. If you got time take everything apart and see if anything looks out of place

@@vinomartin6023 Hey one more thing I forgot. Does your 06 TL have an auxiliary port? You'll need that for audio. Here's what I can think of for things I bought. 1) RCA(red and white) audio cables. Long enough to run from trunk to center console where your aux plug is 2) Y cable to turn RCA cables to 3.5mm audio jack 3) USB extender long enough to run from trunk to front of the car. 4) Lighting cable (or whatever cable connects to your phone)
Pretty cool not gunna lie I got the android double din but this looks way cleaner .. I'd try this but sadly my navigation system dont work I got the insert disc the just pops up even though I have a brand new disc in it

Assuming you still have the Acura TL. I'm considering of going the NavTool route. I made a mistake in buying AVElectronics implementation of Apple Carplay/Android auto. If freezes all the time and the screen looks shifted to the right in the Navi due to their bad implementation of the Interface. I don't have a tsx but I bet the install is very similar. You could prob goggle tsx interior teardown and combine it with this video to figure it out. If you do it, record it so you can help the next person :)
Not in any interface currently available. You have to use the remote. I believe the touch screen technology on the third gen TL is an older type of touch screen and can’t be used (capacitive vs resistant touch screen)
Looks good, question... My 04 TL navigation stopped working but the screen has power. It just had the famous Check your disc error. Do you think it will still work like that?
For some reason the quality of my screen becomes really bad when I turn on the unit do u have any idea to what it’s causing that and for the Auxiliary cable where did you connect that?

If you don't have aux port you would have to use something that connects to the back of your radio to either create an aux port or bluetooth. GROM Audio had a plug and play harness for that I think. I would check them out
Yes it is! CarPlay lives on your phone so every iOS update you can get a CarPlay update. For example, google maps integration has gotten better recently instead of being stuck with apple maps
When you say base model are you referring to 3.2L Base vs 3.5L Type-S? If so, then yes this will work. I have a Base 3.2L 08 :) You essentially have to have a navigation screen you'd be solid!

@AdamoSciarra Has anyone had any updates if this worked or not? I have the exact same problem. 2006 Acura TL "Please check your disc". When the car is turned on the nav says "downloading software" then goes straight to "please check your disc". I've cleaned the Disc, and took apart the DVD Rom in the trunk, put back together. Still the same thing. If this method bypasses all of that, then I'm buying it. Thanks in advance.

I wanna say I paid like $400 something for it. The end of the month they usually run specials. The first part of the video I go over everything that came in the box. For my install, I had to buy a USB extender, a lighting cable for my iphone, an aux cable, and an audio y cable, and I think that's it.

Hey there. Sorry, it's unclear from the video but the pink and light blue wires coming out of the harness lead back to the Navtool Unit with a plug and play connector

So ditched my BT45-HON altogether. Once I connect the carplay it overrides the bluetooth via the BT45-HON and you have to switch it back which is an extra step. Instead, I just do all my audio through carplay which is connect to my aux jack in my car
When I installed it I put access points anytime the cable connects to something else. If that lighting cable stopped working I could swap it out in under 10 min. It's been in the car for like 5 years though. I had it with a previous navtool product lol

Yea for sure! I thought about mounting it to the handbrake handle. I might take it apart and integrate it to other buttons at some point

I haven't found a way to do this yet in my TL. I don't think it's possible. In my newer car I have a similar unit and it lets me use my touch screen

Amazing setup, how do you like it so far? & does the backup camera work when you put the car into reverse?

So this won’t work with the factory touchscreen for the 08 TL? Because the factory screen is touch enabled.

Correct. You’ll need to use a controller with this setup. The other thing you can Google is Acura TL Tesla Screen. That’s a good alternative.

Yes it will. It bypasses that nav system so as long as it's projecting something to the screen this will work even if it says disc error

Your bt45 is all you need

Yea, to be honest, I"m not a fan of their customer support. It's pretty awful. Their actual products are solid though
