i know so sad ;( imagine all the precious headgear, necklace, bangle, they even smash the coffin rip. also the video :"the coffin is put up by 1000 gold nail", while the reconstruction literally has no gold nail
The jade burial suits were considered a stuff of legends despite the facts they were mentioned in historical records. Only after the discovery two complete jade burial suits in 1968, their existence were confirmed true. Han Dynasty may the last period in Chinese history that jade burial suits are ever used. They are never used again in subsequent dynasties.
Actually the Mayan use burial masks made from jade instead of burial suits for their kings. Like the Chinese, jade is also precious to the Mayan and other Mesoamerican groups like the Aztecs and Toltecs.
This is where I'm from. I went numerous times to our city's local museum to see the amazing jade funeral suits... There are 2 of them, and they are... the most incredible things. The chances that my forefathers possibly lived among the emperor, or the tomb raiders... or possibly he/she had taken part in assembling these suits, or designing these graves.... Mind-blowing. My hometown has been a city, for over 2000 years, and still remains one of the major cities in modern day China. Unbelievably cool. I'm proud of her every day. Hope to see these precious pieces displayed in the US soon.
This suit of jade is on display at the moment in Kansas City MO at the Nelson Atkins, my buddy was able to get some good photos of the craftsmanship put into it.
Actually, this kind of slip-ups was pretty common among tomb raiders. They're often clueless about the value of stuff they found. They often left behind priceless pieces of art or historical texts over more mundane gold and silver jewellery, Mostly because gold and silver were much easier to sell. They'd also melt coins/jewellery to get the metals, thereby decreasing their value drastically.
Actually there is a reason why the tomb raiders only take gold and leave the precious jade behind. The tomb raiders are not naïve or ignorant about the value of jade. That's because that the jade found in the tomb is of specific grade and quality that is only available to the Imperial Family. If they dare to sell the jade taken from the tomb, they risk alerting the authorities which may resulted death from execution if they are caught. So for safety reasons, they only take the gold and leaves the jade behind.
I get that funny comments and brain dead people are a must for any TH-cam comment section but can we just appreciate that awesome restoration for a second.
You are right. Jade at that time can only be used by Emperor and his family. So the raiders could not possibly sell it cause no civilians dared to buy and use jade, making jade totally useless for raiders.
Falungong is a fucking cult founded by a crazy guy who told people they can be immortal if they worship and follow his teachings. They tried to overthrow the Chinese government, now the dude is in exile like that other dumbass Dalai Lama, investing in seperatists and trying to overthrown governments is a core stradegy of western countries since the day of imperialism. Organ harvesting is the myth inventedby Falungong practisioners who have a fantasy of destablizing China as a country and having the US take control of the country and make it a "Democratic" country like they did with Iraq. China is having none of that.
There is some saying that says that no matter how rich or poor you are we all are burried the same way....Yeah, sure, tell the Emperors and Pharaohs that my dude.
just one question.. why you all open the tomb of all China dynasty emperor...?? to find ancient history or to find....gold.? that just Question.. in my country we didn't touch any history of tomb of our king and sultan... You must respect you long history.. as long as you history did not vanished.. long live the king..
It's the way this coffin is cut. It usually looks better polished with rounded edges. South American jade statues show it's qualities off a bit better.
fitrian hidayat I've seen a small dragon statue made by high quality jade. It's so beautiful you can feel a connection between you and the statue (just what i feels)
"what they stole may never be fully known"
A few minutes later:
"they stripped the coffin of its 1700 gold nails"....
Yes but there were probably a lot more items of value in the tomb that were taken.
jade is too heavy, and small pieces have lower value
i know so sad ;( imagine all the precious headgear, necklace, bangle, they even smash the coffin rip.
also the video :"the coffin is put up by 1000 gold nail", while the reconstruction literally has no gold nail
Given a pile of tiles, where would you even start in reassembling them, especially if you didn't know the original shape. Mind boggling patience.
You scan all of them then run computer reconstruction scenarios.
I hate the outro because it makes you want to watch more...XD
@@mikecimerian6913 are they already doing that on Parthenon in Athens?
Exquisite workmanship.
Hi
Yes, even in this era it would still be hard
Wonder built! +2 Culture per turn!

MrLantean - wasn’t there a similar Myan burial suit ?
Actually the Mayan use burial masks made from jade instead of burial suits for their kings. Like the Chinese, jade is also precious to the Mayan and other Mesoamerican groups like the Aztecs and Toltecs.
Both objects are so beautiful. I cannot imagine the amount of labor that went into making them and then again, to put them back together.

A walking mummy in a jade burial suit, perfect plot for a horror story.
Non-Egyptian mummies need more exposure in media.
This shit is insane, i thought it was a 3d render.

Love all these ancient artifact findings
I love videos that get right to the points no bs.
The Ancestors of China were way ahead of craftsmen of today in many ways . Thank the Chinese museums for conserving these rare insights from the past.
I get that funny comments and brain dead people are a must for any TH-cam comment section but can we just appreciate that awesome restoration for a second.
Agreed
We need those reddit bots in these comment sections that will make sure we don't post stupid shit
Things are only as much worth, as much people would give for it and if you cant get anything for it, its worth nothing.
I'm glad someone spared the gold for the reconstruction
They dubbed the chinese guy's voice over with a british accent? Haha
AlmostMyself
Probably cause the translator was British
Dubs Chinese guy trying to speak english*
what, would an american accent seem more "normal" to you?
Why do people find that weird?
Asians: Everyone can craft a regular coffin...we are going to make it the hardest possible way! Level = Asian
M JP And the Egyptians laugh at the single coffin
Wandrative 😂
ba14M JP well yeah, the emperor is so fucking rich
A lot of Egyptian artifacts are forgeries of the 19th century by Europeans (famous ones are Nefertiti's bust, Tutankhamun's sarcophagus etc...)
and then they build a city inside a pyramid
Maybe what they stole was even more precious 🤔
Or maybe they thought seling that rock would be hard
You are right. Jade at that time can only be used by Emperor and his family. So the raiders could not possibly sell it cause no civilians dared to buy and use jade, making jade totally useless for raiders.
I thought the thumbnail was a Christmas cookie
Looked much more fun than playing with lego.

Now smarter tomb raiders come and re rob the joint
Coretta Hattereaux I think they will get their organs robbed first in China.
lol, again with the brainwashed idiots of BBC and CNN talking about organ harvesting, hahaha!!!
Simo Hyvarinen they harvested organs from Falun Gong followers and in jail you get a blood test.
Falungong is a fucking cult founded by a crazy guy who told people they can be immortal if they worship and follow his teachings. Napoleon Dynamite's suit was better,it was sweet!

I think that is Xi’s reawakening from the tomb. Now he’s feee from the Jade suit and dominating the world.
What if they dind't take the jade pieces because they wanted the king's body for whatever reason?

Dragon Skin.
Why is jade considered so precious? Doesn't looks so good imho
Akin Khoo cmiiw, but it was considered as jewel/precious stone, right? Not just as carcass preservation

What an ugly history. I would have hated to live in that time period.
China should start making another jade coffin as early as now for emperor Xi Jinping.
