@@emmamoscoso9742 Exactly, it's the one distinct, random sound that is irritating (a single car horn etc). But a collection of similar noises would just blend into one, like how you get a normal collective noise of people talking at recess, not as annoying as one random kid shouting.
Vics TV if you know Spanish, it’s not that hard. They are speaking Spanish but with whistles. Once you understand the tones for the vowels and the sounds of the consonants is not complicated anymore. I don’t speak silbo gomero but I’m a native Spanish speaker and after hearing a lot of phrases translate to whistles, it totally makes sense and you can comprehend some words! It’s truly amazing
Why is it hard? If there are say 100 distinct tones/whistles, then each tone can be assigned a letter. Or it could be a logographic writing system like Chinese/kanji. Tones are not so different from the normal English sounds coming from your throat (except of course that it is tedious). If one is possible to write, other should be as well.
I could hear it with a dash of Spanish. Similar to someone mumbling or humming a song. You can still hear the tone/frequency of the sound and make/put patterns together that your brain can recognize. automatically.

So you are assuming that birds have the same level of vocabulary as humans because humans can convey trough whistling large and complex sentences? #DOUBT
If you are still interested there have been a fair amount of studies on the 'languages' of crows and ravens, I recommend looking them up its really interesting how much they can communicate
James Furey Calm down. I'll believe there's more to bird calls as soon as someone who's actually been studying them has published proof that there is and got it peer reviewed at least twice. But I won't be a guy who hasn't got the first clue about bird calls, watches a video of people talking in whistles rather than words, signs or letters and goes "I bet bird communication is too complex for our human minds to understand and you can't prove that I'm wrong!!".
I'm from China, and I've seen comedians using a improvised "whistle Chinese" to imitate birds talking. I've always wondered if a fully functional whistle language could exist, this video is a beautiful answer : )
Tuve que hacer una presentación sobre las canarias el año pasado y aprendé de esta lengua. Es muy fascinante y bella, y de verdad espero visitar a las islas y tratar aprender un poco de la lengua. ¡Excelente video!
Didn't even know this thing exist . How they translate whistling into normal conversation blows my mind. For some people, a normal conversation is hard enough , but whistling ? That's next level
I found this video while looking up "La Gomera" upon a suggestion from another viewer. We're on another channel talking about a method of communication used by a fictitious group of Luddites in the video game "The Last of Us, Part II", known as the Seraphites. This viewer mentioned to me that they were influenced by "La Gomera" (not knowing the name of the language is called Sylbo; I had no idea either). Later on, I found a post by another viewer who said that the sound designers at Naughty Dog (the developers of the game) wanted to make the Seraphite's whistles more eerie, so they made them more minimalist...and it totally worked. This "lost" language is just utterly fascinating, wow. So distinctively unique, for sure. Thanks for posting this! Cheers.
I hope this language continues on and doesn't die out. People should keep on learning it to pass on the knowledge so that this beautiful connection to mankind's past doesn't vanish.

@@emmamoscoso9742 Exactly, it's the one distinct, random sound that is irritating (a single car horn etc). But a collection of similar noises would just blend into one, like how you get a normal collective noise of people talking at recess, not as annoying as one random kid shouting.
But 190 people whistling, granted, is just fine
that would b annoying asf regardless of how many ppl. if its early in the morning idc who it is, they catching these hands.
That's why you ingest aids into your ears before they bleed

Damn, I got babble instead lol
Learning a whistling language is gonna be hard, imagine people can’t barely learn written languages as it is.
It’s truly amazing
you could probably apply the same principle as this language to english
Its like if you switched all the vowels in english to a. At tha and ya wall andarstand what thaa ara sayang
@@Fr00stee when they where speaking to the tourist they did it, just with german
I wonder if I will get a response with my American accent.
The real question no one is asking is, how do they read and write in this language?
Why is it hard? If there are say 100 distinct tones/whistles, then each tone can be assigned a letter. Or it could be a logographic writing system like Chinese/kanji. Tones are not so different from the normal English sounds coming from your throat (except of course that it is tedious). If one is possible to write, other should be as well.
well, if you're not fucking fool, you'd need not ask that question

I could listen to the last man they showed, Pancho the herdsman, talk and whistle all day. Something about him is so interesting and almost calming.
I think we all wish we could be Pancho the Herdsman...
Plot twist: they're literally all just whistling and the editors just added random subtitles
Miley Wadlinger 😂
Imagine lmaoooo
I could hear it with a dash of Spanish. Similar to someone mumbling or humming a song. You can still hear the tone/frequency of the sound and make/put patterns together that your brain can recognize. automatically.
Plot twist: they're just doing bird calls and they made it a documentary on some made up island
Miley Wadlinger I thought the same!!! Like what if all the people of this island came up with this elaborate prank just to be on the news😂
This is actually so amazing! Beeing able to comunicate like that. I wish people would apreciate things like this more!

@Cosmonauteable like your sex life and nobody is complaining about it. (just a joke) this is culture. like mainteining ancestral vikings rituals or navajo´s songs. is part of the legacy of our ancestors. is part of our roots.
Seems pretty obvious that birds are communicating far more than we think.
Does it?
So you are assuming that birds have the same level of vocabulary as humans because humans can convey trough whistling large and complex sentences? #DOUBT
Normie Peasant it’s proven animals have some sort of communication, pretty sure only a few things to chirp about tho lol
If you ever find yourself bird watching a pair of Cardinals (male and female) will chirp back and forth to each other while looking for food.
JINXtheGamer Read what I wrote again.
Nowhere did I say they have the same level of vocabulary as humans.
Are you just looking for an argument?
This is so beautiful, they sound like song birds.

hhhk20 fucking hysterical hahahahahah
This brings up the question as to how advanced birds chirping is.
. yes.......S..I...................................
Patriot Jefferson well your bird does not really understand the things he says he only loosely ascosiates them with somthing
If you are still interested there have been a fair amount of studies on the 'languages' of crows and ravens, I recommend looking them up its really interesting how much they can communicate
James Furey
I think people have studied bird calls enough to have a good grasp of what they can and cannot convey.
James Furey
Calm down.
I didn’t realise orthodontist tools spoke the Sylbo language!

I'm from China, and I've seen comedians using a improvised "whistle Chinese" to imitate birds talking. I've always wondered if a fully functional whistle language could exist, this video is a beautiful answer : )

Only useful at first. The enemy would pick up on the whistling and just listen to your plans. You'd also be giving your positions away
Barthaneous OMG we both had the same thought and I just posted a similar comment.
Cheers.
imagine its going to be even more lost now with coronavirus around and people not sticking their fingers in their mouth as much anymore
