It’s a theory that when you imagine doing something, like swimming, an exercise, a choreography.. etc the same parts in the brain light up as when you would actually do the movement physically.The more detailed you imagine the situation, the more similar the effect is. It has something to do with neural circuits/ pathways and movement sequences your nervous system already knows along with muscle memory. English isn’t my native language, otherwise I would have explained it, but I can’t find the words lol

As someone who dedicates her free time and her career to fiction, I just need to say that it was very strange to feel my hands moving without my conscious effort.
Tbh I was surprised. I haven’t written anything yet but I plan to because I’m very imaginative and I’m always trying to come up with unique and cool ideas for a story. But my hands went closer together. Perhaps I’m only imaginative in certain scenarios and I’m logical in others

The only reason why they felt that it worked was because he SUGGESTED to them that their imagination actually moved their hands subconsciously. It's literally what conmen and scammers do on the daily. Give a wide and generally applicable statement (such as not being able to keep your hands perfectly in line when holding them out with your eyes closed), emphasize the correlation, and then let the victim connect the dots and come to a conclusion all by theirself.

My hands didn't move, because he said "imagine" doing it, that word gave away the ending to me, and therefore I consciously kept my hands still. Had he simply said "a balloon is tied to your right hand..." it may have worked out differently.

Funny thing, I imagined balloons that raise my right hand and books that crush my left hand. I could feel this movement in my head, so I thought that by opening my eyes my right hand would be higher than the left. It turned out the other way around. My right hand turned out to be lower than my left hand. It seems to me that, feeling in my head the movement of my hands caused by my imagination, my brain also tried to keep the level of the palm at the same height without my knowledge, based on the imaginary movement caused by "books" and "balloons"
so, interesting fact - I have Aphantasia; of the sort where I cannot willfully "Visualize" anything with imagination. However i have recently realized having an imagination and being able to imagine things visually are seperate. Whats even more amusing is the momen you said "Imagine a baloon lifting your right pinky finger" my pinke on the left hand raised slightly - but the arm went down ever so slightly when you mentioned the books. Fascinating.

What's interesting (to me at least) is that as I was doing it (and I kept my eyes closed), I kept imagining my hands moving, and I kept feeling a subtle sense that my hands were moving, like I could almost feel it kinesthetically. So I was expecting my hands to be at least a little bit apart when I opened my eyes, but then they were perfectly level. Don't know that it means anything in particular, I just found it an interesting experience.
You can both be creative and logical. Creating a fake scenerio (creative) to be mentality prepared against a possible crisis (logical). Besides, doesn't the fact that you can spot an irrationality indicate logic?
I find it strange that we continue to bifurcate "analysis" from "creativity" some of the world's most creative people are nuanced and analytical in thier thought, while many doctor's, scientitists, and philospophers are accomplished artists and story tellers. Yes, different people have different strengths, but the fact that we treat these facets of humanity as mutually exclusive is contrary to both logic and experience.
THIS, in general. I think the man in the video probably comes to the wrong conclusions about the kind of behaviour a person might exhibit if one or the other thing happens. BUT. I think there is something in the idea of "can your rational brain that knows there's nothing there beat out the suggestible part of your brain that is picturing there is".

Something that also comes with this suggestion test is also to read the instructions of the medicines you take. It's normal to a lot of people to feel the symptoms while reading, and thats the main reason my parents tell me to read for them and take care of them when sick :) ♡

I have a great imagination but I hate being predictable. When I imagined the balloons and the books I could feel the invisible forces on my hands but I was determined to repel the forces; to not be predictable. In the end when I opened my eyes; expecting my hands to be equal, I found that my right hand was lower than my left hand.

This is actually such a good personality test because I’ve become a lot more paranoid in the past years and I was scared it would jump scare me so I had my eyes open but I’m pretty sure a couple of years ago I would not have done that

I got to be your 1,000th like! I had the same thoughts, though my next was, “what was on the screen that I didn’t see?” I expected my hands to not be level any more but think I fought to keep them level the whole time; possibly to avoid being “suggestible.”
Is it weird that I actually felt like there was a force pulling my right hand up and my left hand down, so I instinctively resisted those forces by flexing my deltoids even though there was no actual force except for gravity.

Funny thing, I imagined balloons that raise my right hand and books that crush my left hand. I could feel this movement in my head, so I thought that by opening my eyes my right hand would be higher than the left. It turned out the other way around. My right hand turned out to be lower than my left hand. It seems to me that, feeling in my head the movement of my hands caused by my imagination, my brain also tried to keep the level of the palm at the same height without my knowledge, based on the imaginary movement caused by "books" and "balloons"

so, interesting fact - I have Aphantasia; of the sort where I cannot willfully "Visualize" anything with imagination.
However i have recently realized having an imagination and being able to imagine things visually are seperate.

It's a trick ^_^ anyone who didn't follow his instructions saw the picture of the puppy he held up (and a lot of people proved they are suggestable because they closed their eyes and did what he told them to do!!) :D
What's interesting (to me at least) is that as I was doing it (and I kept my eyes closed), I kept imagining my hands moving, and I kept feeling a subtle sense that my hands were moving, like I could almost feel it kinesthetically. So I was expecting my hands to be at least a little bit apart when I opened my eyes, but then they were perfectly level. Don't know that it means anything in particular, I just found it an interesting experience.

I find it strange that we continue to bifurcate "analysis" from "creativity" some of the world's most creative people are nuanced and analytical in thier thought, while many doctor's, scientitists, and philospophers are accomplished artists and story tellers. Yes, different people have different strengths, but the fact that we treat these facets of humanity as mutually exclusive is contrary to both logic and experience.
THIS, in general. I think the man in the video probably comes to the wrong conclusions about the kind of behaviour a person might exhibit if one or the other thing happens. BUT. I think there is something in the idea of "can your rational brain that knows there's nothing there beat out the suggestible part of your brain that is picturing there is".
This video is just for clickbait and short iq people who likes to feel identify with nonsense things just to feel special or something. Apart from having some fun and entertaining this test is extremely simplistic.

Something that also comes with this suggestion test is also to read the instructions of the medicines you take. It's normal to a lot of people to feel the symptoms while reading, and thats the main reason my parents tell me to read for them and take care of them when sick :) ♡

I have a great imagination but I hate being predictable. When I imagined the balloons and the books I could feel the invisible forces on my hands but I was determined to repel the forces; to not be predictable. In the end when I opened my eyes; expecting my hands to be equal, I found that my right hand was lower than my left hand.

Same thing happened to me. I was fighting to keep my hands from moving like it was some kind of challenge. In the end the fingertips of my right hand were pointed upwards and the left downwards.
To be fair, the video title gave it away that ignoring his suggestion to close my eyes would be worth trying...
