Try downtuning the 6th string to D. Then, instead of hitting the 7th fret on the A string, you can let the open D string ring while you play the harmonics. I find that it sounds a lot smoother.
Thank you SOOO MUCH! This video helped me learn so much about to song, and how to play it. I don't see how you don't have more views!! You're and amazing guitarist mate.
dude yes omg thank you so much! its raining outside and its all foggy i need to learn how to play this song! you made this rainy day so much better for me now! thank you!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHh. Thank you thank you thank you! I discovered this song yesterday & was like "I gotta learn this!" And your video was a suuper big help.
haha i did the same thing. havent touched my guitar for like half a year, and after listening to this song for the first time in a while i got inspired.
I have been dieing to learn this song. Thank you so much! This is the first song that I have ever learned to play the lead to. I'm not really familiar with hammer on, but thanks anyways!! :)
Thankyou, I will probably make a video of my semi-sucess at this song as a video response or ill send it to you if i can get my webcam to work. But you make this so much better i was tryng to sound it out and i sounded like a dyeing chewbacca.....
Wow. thanks so much this helped a ton! the link for the back tracking acoustic is invalid though.... could you repost the link maybe? thanks!! You're a great player :)
Where can I find the tab? I like the visual you give because that will help since I'm not confident in myself to learn on my own but I also like the reference of tab/sheet music. Tab is best for guitar :) thanks and great upload! I notice some transitions were off but then again I can't say I'd be any better. Can I also ask a few more personal kind of questions; I'm interested in being a singer and I have few questions that aren't insanely personal, just music-personal.
You missed a note... when you end on that 7 note in the intro, the top string is also plucked as an open note (depending on what tuning you have the guitar in)
I am 14 years old and literally have had like three lessons but I decided to go and try out this song. It is one of my favorite songs. I got the first part, like from 7 to 9 to 4, but after that I got stuck. Is there any way that anyone can help me with this?
the first part is easier if you play it on the 3rd and 5th frets on the B and G strings. you dont get the same effect you get from sliding but its easier and you can add more slides. B----3--5--3--5--3--O(first part. then..) G----2--4--- B------3------- G---O--2--4--- D----2--- (then pretty harmonic part.) if you have any questions just reply back to me.
Now i dont know if you remember me or not, but i said i would upload me playing it.. And my mic is broken so it just shows the fingering... But ya know...
Ultimate Guitar is user submitted. And there are many different places to play the same notes on the neck. I'm positive these are the right notes for the most part, but not the only way to play it. Like I said in the video, this is a tutorial for how I played it in my original cover of the song.
I just spent like 15 minutes learning the little intro.. and then i moved on to the hammer on 7 to 9 and i did it and I was all like.. THAT, DOES NOT, SOUND RIGHT. then i looked at his fingers a little closer and found out that i was playing the d string for the little intro and the g string for the hammer on 7 to 9.. Welp. I feel so dumb
Not sure if it's the lack of background music or if it's just wrong, but the first shape for the chorus sounds too happy. The actual song has much more angst and sadness in that first chorus chord shape than what you play. Again, I could be wrong.
It totally could be. I just know that c major is a chord in the key signature so it works. But also you can add intervals on a major chord to make it have the feeling of angst so it may be the lack of those notes, or more likely, the wrong chord all together. But it still technically works. Lol
It sounds good. Sorry if I seemed like I was saying it didn't. But without any kind of contextual music behind it to help give it any depth it sounded off to me. Still, good job bro
kaylin patton It has nothing to do with the tuning of the song. It would sound crazy dissonant if I were just playing everything a whole step up from the original. What key you play in has noting to do with what tuning the guitar is in.
You're not doing like on the record, not saying that's wrong or anything. But he is actually sliding on the same string all the time in stead of hammering and such
Literally picked up a guitar for the first time to learn this. Thank

I'm playing on a 4\4 Luna, and I'm a beginner so I anyone has any tips please share! I know the basics and this is the first song I'm learning
For the chord part:
Em7 and CMaj7
thanks alot!
Dude you have some nice guitars :)
What's the strumming pattern for the very last part?
What is the strumming pattern for when you go from Em to C?
What was the strumming pattern for that one part?
just wondering but what exact notes and chords do use to play this song?
You should do an electric guitar please :)
how do you do the slides?! I can't do the slides right! :(
When you slide make sure to carry your thumb with you. You have to move your hand when you slide
How can you play it on a lauren la36?
No need to apologize! Thank you!
Can someone give me the order for the picking part?
ayyy how you liking that jasmine s34c

yeah, i had to modify it a little bit because it was way different on my guitar for some reason
OH JEEZ THANK YOU SO MUCH
Does it have to be hammer ons? Or can you just slide...
Well I mean technically, the recording is slides, but it doesn't sound that bad doing hammer ons either.
OH JEEZ. THANK you SO MUCH. I was kind of going for the reverse effect of that, but...you get it. =D
you're awesomee!
I just used quarter notes I believe. I mean you could do it any way you wanted. Down or up wouldn't really matter in that situation.
I don't quite get the picking part "E-B-G-E-B-G-E-B" doesn't work ? o.O
cool 🙏👏👏👏👏
extremely helpfullllllllllllllllll
it helped a lot though! thank you so much! :P
Well he's a good looking guy in my book so thank you!
Uhm I don't quite get the picking part? was it "EBGEBGEB" ? :/ doesn't sound right, GREAT VID by the way. :) really better than tabs :D
Tanks!! :3
Tuning?

I could marry you, omg it was great!
seriously u helped me so much! i learned it in 10 minutes
AW SO CUTE ; 3 ;
are you sure this is right? cuz i just checked out the tab on ultimate guitar and its completely different.
Ultimate Guitar is user submitted. And there are many different places to play the same notes on the neck. I'm positive these are the right notes for the most part, but not the only way to play it. Like I said in the video, this is a tutorial for how I played it in my original cover of the song.
the part where you're playing chords (where he gets wild with his vocals) is definitely a picking pattern. Listen to the song closely.
Awe. He’s cute.

Oh no! I totally understood! Thank you for your input! Thank you for watching as well!
I think its mainly cuz the song is supposed to be in drop c but he's playing in standard
