The only brilliance of 96 was putting Todd's first scenes w/ Erika skezaks viki. Their relationship was Erika's favorite after 30 years. That says it all to me.
I would venture it's because of how much screen time he had for the year of consideration as a whole, or maybe the three academies in charge of the Emmys considered his win in 1994 to be too recent, because of, you know, politics.
Seriously ! & Todd was really at the beginning just a spoiler character to show how lonely Marty was to take some one night stand guy home. They must have saw something in Roger that Micheal Malone didn't b/c they had him come back more & more. Once he gang raped Marty it was already out of character for Todd even as early as his pre rape scenes were he never gave off a rapey pychotic vibe. Then he suddenly orchestrates a gang rape ! Then they made him as reprehensible as a villain can be zero remorse but Roger somehow showed depth in his expressions that showed he wasn't as evil as his lines dictated. Still I figured he was getting the super bad villains death until people started to love him. Literally I knew the show was nothing at that time w/o him b/c when Todd was in the coma after Luna hit him every character talked about Todd. Even w/ him in a coma for several episodes he drove every story around him. I think Malone wanted Powell to be the rapist reformed but it didn't work b/c he was immediately treated like a hero b/c he gad remorse. He was just as much a rapist as Todd & Zack & in a way he was more sickening cause he was a coward. He raped a woman he liked b/c he wanted to impress a fellow frat boy ! That's a sick puppy already. I'm glad they made him go nuts b/c at least he took responsibility instead of " Todd made me do it !" He never put a gun to ur head Powell. Anyway u are correct when u think of super bad villains like Austin faux bo they got the villains death. Mitch started off pretty sane just a sleazy con man. Then they made him worse & worse til the end. So mitch was never a lead he was more of a villain brought back every other year after he was off the show dead for 17 yrs. They should have left mitch dead cause it got crazy w/ him. Planning to make a baby w/ a girl he thought was his daughter while spouting scripture made Hilary b Smith ashamed for the first time in her career of the show she worked on. Oltl had a serious obsession w/ rape & predatory sex like Jessie was a victim of child porn! Viki was molested by Victor for years. The only story of possible abuse I wished they explored was Blairs. She once mentioned to cord something about hating hearing the footsteps on the stairs to her bedroom in a new foster home.
@Isaiah Hill Luke Spencer as well. He was supposed to be off the show by death or prison after raping Laura but the fans went wild & they had to furiously start back stepping & rewriting. I have to say Todd still beats both Luke & sonny. Both were at least created characters expected to be on for at least one story arc. Todd was frat boy #1 & his very first episode he was just written as a spoiler for Jason & Leeann by getting into a brawl where Jason I believe got arrested. Then he was brought back again w/ only a first name for 2 reasons. One again to finally start events to break up Jason & Leeann by having his little minions Zack & Powell plant pot on Jason. The other reason was to show how low & lonely Marty was by hitting on Todd & taking him home for a one nighter where in the afterglow she begged him to stay & he said no then told her to brush her hair. Then the rest is history. Also pre rape Todd talked about having 2 patents & was from Santa Monica calif.
Funny thing is he's playing this todd type character again on general Hospital but as the Franco character while he plays the more friendly todd one oltl online

@erynalyson I'm so glad that RH is back. I can't wait until he starts interacting with everyone again, and I'm really intrigued to see how he and TSJ will play off one another.

Rh as todd deserved an emmy every year esp in the 90s. One emmy win when he was a baby is great but his acting got so much better.
