Thanks for reminding me of that video again...just watched it for the 100th time. Carl Sagan is so inspirational. For anyone who hasn't seen it: /watch?v=4PN5JJDh78I
This will sound creepy, but I want him to read me bedtime stories. He's just so happy! Ignore the fact that a 30-year-old man wants James Corden to just read him something. :P
"I miss architecture." YES. I know what you mean, James! That's why London is a magical, beautiful, and different city to live in compared to other metropolises like NYC and LA, and I miss it. The Parliament, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, the Shard, the Millennium Bridge, the Tower Bridge, the Eye, etc. Plus all the old, old historic buildings, or the ones reconstructed post-war. Just walking along the Thames and taking in the river and the architecture, sigh. And the neighborhoods are distinct and wonderful. And the beautiful museums. Other European metro cities don't compare as cities to live in when you're like me (a New Yorker), they are too small. And that tangential ending speech... I swear he got emotional for real. That's a genuine good guy right there. Love you, James! Can't wait for you to kill it at the Tonys!
Hah! I'd do it if it was easy to live in both cities simultaneously, but I do like living in NYC, even if it's grungier, grittier, and a bit more sprawling.
He looks like comfort. Like if you were to sit next to him, he'd let you lay on his shoulder, and he'll stroke your hair until you fell asleep, and you'd wake up covered in a blanket in your bed. Like he's the human equivalent to a cup of chamomile tea.
+Shawn Smith if banning an entire religion, labelling an entire community as murderers and rapists is your definition for "immigration law enforcement, sovereignty ,security etc" then good luck and god bless you are so lost. he's running a campaign based on hatred, and you just can't see it; All men are created equal, what they do with their lives define who they are.
You should look up their previous careers, both started as comedians... who happen to be working as talk show hosts right now. Although I have to say: even though I like them as talk show hosts (specially Colbert), I rather see them doing comedy. :)
The philosophy of "being a citizen of the world" is one that should be encouraged if we as a species, want to further develop. Why? I feel that uniting as one is the only way we can stop the bad things in the world: Hunger, Poverty, Terrorism to name a few. Now i'm not saying we suddenly become communistic, but the only way in which any of those problems can be solved is by generosity of the super rich. If I write more, people won't read, but what's everyone else's opinions on the matter?
I think it’s a beautiful philosophy that should be encouraged, because it’s almost the solution to all the world’s problems. What I mean by that is by SEEING that we’re all just *humans* we can put a stop to racism, sexism, the list goes on. The world needs more people with that mindset.
Even if you'd unite the world, it wouldn't stop anything of that. You still have hunger and poverty in wealthy countries. Even terrorism would always exist, because there would always be someone who is against a system, be it for political or religious reasons. If we can't stop things like that now, we won't stop them after uniting the world either. That may sound extremly pessimistic, but I think it's quite realistic.
As much as I love this idea, never gonna happen.. had never happened in the history of mankind, not rightnow, and neither will. Because human beings are not designed that way. Or say, any living organism..
What a beautiful perspective. With everything happening in the UK at the moment, I kind of wish all my fellow Brits had been to space. Then maybe everyone wouldn't be using nationalism and xenophobia as excuses to leave the EU; we could just see all these divisions as arbitrary, be citizens of the world, and love everyone regardless of their birthplace.
Britain heroically leading the way for Europe would be perfection but unfortunately there's a time and a place to be idealistic and that time is not right now. With that being said people will always be helping each other, there will be charities and enthusiastic groups who are more than willing to provide support to other countries. At the moment people want security for themselves; the UK is far from perfect so let's prioritise ourselves for the time being:/ I don't want to argue about any of this tbh I just wanted to watch a James Cordon video XD after I saw your comment I had to mention that there's no reason to lose faith in Britain's humanity because they're concerned with security regarding jobs/finance/terrorism; its unrelated to xenophobia. Leaving the EU has nothing to do with this video; it's not a good idea to bring something political/economical to a video about Carpool Karaoke :P
This video sums up my thoughts, I am a person of the world, not EU or UK so I'm a rare thing a lefty who doesnt mind the exit, I had a slight pref to stay but if we could reduce inequality by lowering property prices and less bankers it has its benifits. Plus things like tampon tax and Merkal are not needed, I can go on for ages with benifts of being out but I could go on slightly longer with reasons in is better.
The whole idea about the EU was to reduce nationalism in a war hungry divided Europe. Leaving the EU is so foolish it's baffling. We are bigger than terrorism. But I guess the terrorists win. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
The citizen of the world thing was really cool! That feeling is really foreign to me considering I've always been raised to think of myself first as an American before all else
You should visit more places in the world maybe. I would call myself an earthling because I don't feel the need to connect myself only to one place. I live in Malaysia because my mum is from here, I was born here and I love the food and I'm half Malay but refuse to be a Muslim. I also feel American having lived there for 11 years but I came to Malaysia for a while and went back only to be kicked out. Since being kicked out I don't feel American anymore. So one day maybe I'll move to England where my dad is from.
I just hope you feel no shame about it. It's perfectly OK to embrace whatever's closest to you... If you were born and raised in America, it makes a whole lot of sense for you to be raised to think like this. As long as you do know that the way you see the world at large is not limited to you only, and you're aware that other people might see a completely different world, you're fine. I feel like the key to being a citizen of the world is to be perfectly aware that there are many different ways the world can be looked at. You don't sound like that's something you don't understand. I'm French, I was born and raised in Paris, my parents are both from Ivory Coast, I've lived in the UK and in Canada for a while, and I got family in a whole lot of countries - the concepts of nationality and origins are very foreign to me. My nation is whatever I feel close to emotionally and culturally. So just as long as you keep an open heart, and you don't stop at insignificant notions and expect the unexpected, IMO you'll always be fine.
I do not travel but I realized that theory many years ago. Maybe because I don't really like my country and I don't like to think about it as my nationality; maybe because it is the best way of thinking, at least from my point of view.
It doesn't work out. I am an American that lives in suburban parts of America, and I can tell you from experience that everyone that lives in a city is self righteous and has no consideration for the rest of the world. These people think they make a difference, but really their minds are blocked off from reality and what is really best for a country. They have no logical sense and it gets worse. That is why I do not endorse Hillary Clinton for president because she is very similar to these types of ignorant people.
AntWillsKills, First you say "Fuck Stephen Colbert. Fucking Bitch." Now you rant on about city folk when you CLEARLY state that you're suburban. You're not a City guy, so who the hell are you to talk FOR and ABOUT city folk? See what i mean? You come across as a complete fuckin bellend. " These people think they make a difference, but really their minds are blocked off from reality and what is really best for a country. " Are you some kind of bloody psychic? that you can READ THE MINDS of these people? Good lord shut the fuck up. Look buddy, i like Trump, he's the better of the two evils ( Hillary vs Trump ). But i'm not voting, because it's the GENUINE IDIOTS LIKE YOU, who make the most ridiculous claims that make the rest of US SANE supporters look fucking retarded that i just don't want to associate with you brain dead morons. This is the United States of America, Freedom of Speech motherfucker, just because you don't like what the opposition is saying doesn't make you any more right than them, it just means you have a difference of opinion. That's the bloody problem with you Ultra nationalist, you think your opinion and options are the only ones that should be available. To establish my credit, I've lived in the San Diego hood for around 6 years, then around 3 years in the heart of Downtown San Diego(the city) and now I've lived in the Suburbs 25 minutes north of Downtown, by the MCAS Miramar Base of Operations for around 3 years now as well.
+Michael Pollante You think what I say is contradicting? I don't understand how you make a better arguement than I do, when at the end of your argument you say "shut the fuck up." At least I say what I mean with pride and explain myself. The only argument you have, is what I have said. The fact that you used to live in a popular city makes my point. If you are a ignorant person that lives in a city, you think that you are better than everyone and you can make a better statement for the world. If you truly knew what the world's problems are, you wouldn't be arguing with someone who is probably half of your age, on your side, and making a statement that is purely opinion. Yes I said Fuck Stephen, but it was only for his personality, not politics.
+AntWillsKills So, from the experience that you've had, everyone that lives in a city is self righteous? Everyone? This coming from a person from the suburbs is an idiotic thing to say. I'm from Philadelphia so I know exactly how people from the city of Philadelphia can be. But, I've also been in many suburbs in America, so I can tell you from my experience that there are shitty people no matter where you are. If you aren't from the city you obviously don't know a lot of good, kind, generous city people. The problem that we have here is that people are so quick to judge an entire sector that it become bias. I'm not even going to get into politics because I believe that we Americans should come together rather than rage over who OUR next president is going to be. No matter who I vote for my goal is to improve the future of my country.
I nearly teared up a bit. That was so beautifully put and so true. We're all in this together, nationalism is a disease of our time, holding us back from creating something amazing
The George Michael karaoke is the best! I watched it when I was in the U.K.. I wish he could bring George on it, everybody should watch the original. I agree about London, it is a gorgeous city.
I feel the same way being born in Malaysia to a Malaysian mum and English dad and moving to the U.S. when I was 9 and moving back to Malaysia when I was 20.
Except not. These two very privileged rich men preaching love, tolerance and sharing universal have very little or nothing in common with, say, a destitute pakistani slum dweller preaching the death of blaspehemers. There is no unity.
+alfred delatourquipenche Damn, instead of trying to dampen the mood and nit pick, both worked their way to where they are today. We're all privileged because we've got roofs over our heads, Wi-Fi, running water, working toilets. Yes some have it better than others but dwelling on that not only doesn't improve anything, it makes it worse.
He's so right, one of my absolute favourite things about london is how diverse the architecture is, theres traditional buildings, older than the modern America next to post-modern skyscrapers
As it's already known, james is a person we wish we could see more of in the world with such a kind and generous heart. Just look at him blush at 5:20 confirms he has one of the most honest and trustworthy souls. It's always a beautiful feeling to see good people living happily.
That was very beautiful. I think the most beautiful thing about that is knowing that someone truly believes it. Meanwhile, I get more cynical as the days progress. It was very nice to hear his POV.
Love James Corden, from someone who lives in the UK i've watched him my whole childhood and growing up and now seeing how successful he has become in the world is so damn awesome. I'm so happy for him! Never change Gavin!
Been a fan of James Corden since way back in his Gavin and Stacey days and it's so amazing to see how successful he's become, yet he's still so grounded and genuine. It's a rare sight these days.
There is just something so charming and down to earth about him. He can flawlessly go back and forth between being silly and inspiring and that is very impressive. You just know he is very genuine.
aww what he said about the divisions being man-made and how we should look at it as just earth that we should all protect it is so nice. i wish people would view life and the world the way he does.
Its very hard not to feel good with a big smile on your face with James Corden, he is simply funny without feeling the need of putting people down which is the norm these days.
he is the cutest human maybe ever to exist. at the end when he said "thanks, man" and kind of chuckled i think my heart melted into a million little bits of chocolate and puppy kisses
I swear he was about to cry when he said that thing about earth at the end! I love him. I thought I was the only one who that, which as I'm now saying it realize that was stupid to think it was an original thought.
In the UK, actor Robert Llewellyn had his "Carpool" web series way back in 2009. That's where the "driving celebs to work & chatting" thing started, and his series made even more sense because he used an electric car: no noise = better sound quality. Was Corden aware of this? Well, his "Gavin & Stacey" co-star Rob Brydon was one of the Carpool guests.
Thank you for bringing light to this. I enjoyed watching those when they came out. Corden's carpool karaoke has always made me think back to that web series. I had no idea about the Rob Brydon connection.
When Stephen hugged James, I thought he was going to kiss him.
Same hahaha
He was..... ;) LOL
I think James was thinking the same thing xD look at his face
both of them are pretty pretty, pretty, pretty cool people.
I thought I was going to cry
This got so much deeper than "Carpool Karaoke"
Yeah, they ought to rename this clip or recut it. The best part is at the end.
That's exactly what I was thinking.
Thanks for reminding me of that video again...just watched it for the 100th time.
Carl Sagan is so inspirational. For anyone who hasn't seen it:

not that deep really
James Corden is like the human equivalent of Winnie the Pooh! He's so adorable and I just want to give him a hug ☺️
Me too! 😊😃
haha!! oookay. I guess that's one way you could describe him. lol!!!
This will sound creepy, but I want him to read me bedtime stories. He's just so happy! Ignore the fact that a 30-year-old man wants James Corden to just read him something. :P
poffdaughter97 nah he is a typical guy from our village! I went to school with him and he is awesome but normal to me!
this thought never crossed my mind and now i will forever see him as Winnie the Pooh
The world needs more people like James Corden
White people?
XD
Funk Daddy um no, kind people with a good heart, not everything is about race
I know, I was being silly!
I agree with you.
Funk Daddy oops sorry I didn't realise haha, and thank you :)
+Ally No problem sister 😄
PLUR
Wow. He seemed so emotional and genuine. We need more people like him.

You mean like this - vlc-uk.tumblr.com/tagged/london
Good for you (an actual New Yorker).
Yeah!!! Exactly like that! Great pics ...thnx
London is teeny tho. It has great and amazing parts to it. But the city is too crowded and small
He looks like comfort. Like if you were to sit next to him, he'd let you lay on his shoulder, and he'll stroke your hair until you fell asleep, and you'd wake up covered in a blanket in your bed. Like he's the human equivalent to a cup of chamomile tea.
shevonnie salmon this was beautiful
that was a beautiful description and very accurate I should add
Sara Ibanez aw thank you! I honestly think he's a gem in this world.
Yes that's the feeling I get from him when I watch him. He seems like such a sweetheart.
I really love the way you describe him. so explicit
james corden is a beautiful cinnamon roll too good for this world, too pure
Don't say that! We need him to stick around!
I now love James Corden even more AND Steve Colbert for acknowledging what an amazing thing James was saying!!!!
This got surprisingly deep. Gotta love this guy, we'd all be a better if we had a little bit of Corden in us
That's what she said.
I've had a little bit of Corden in me, It's quite hard to feel
I love you! You just made my day.
This video should be retitled "James Corden explains HUMANITY" 🤔
wow that was genuine;
i have a feeling that this man might turn *_people who want to build walls_* into better human beings.
+Shawn Smith if banning an entire religion, labelling an entire community as murderers and rapists is your definition for "immigration law enforcement, sovereignty ,security etc" then good luck and god bless you are so lost.
he's running a campaign based on hatred, and you just can't see it;
All men are created equal, what they do with their lives define who they are.
+Shawn Smith Yeah, you suck.
Amen to that Sidd ....and ...keep taking your tablets Shawn Smith ...you may get better one day !!! :)
I came for the carpool karaoke. i left being moved by the idea of humanity's unity
Would u see an american saying that ... i think not 😨
two of my favourite comedians in one place enough said ❤
same😄😄😆
Yes
Don't get me wrong, I love these guys but... John Oliver.
yeah the guy is funny
You should look up their previous careers, both started as comedians... who happen to be working as talk show hosts right now. Although I have to say: even though I like them as talk show hosts (specially Colbert), I rather see them doing comedy. :)
I admire and agree with James Corden
Same here
The way James said "LIVE?!?" at the end made my day lol
R.I.P. George Michael. Can't believe the original idea of carpool karaoke involved him
There is a video of it out here - over seven million views and rising. It's hilarious!

The world needs more people with that mindset.
It won't happen with our current population, only a worldwide catastrophe will lower our numbers and bring us together imo
Even if you'd unite the world, it wouldn't stop anything of that.

Holy crap that was beautiful. I think even Colbert was speechless and couldn't top Corden's statements. Awesome interview!
Corden has come a long way - he has definitely exceeded the expectations of so many skeptics.
I think he was one of the biggest skeptics tbh
He is the sweetest and nicest guy ever. I met him once last year and he was for sure the nicest and happiest celebrity I've met
K A I had a bad experience where I watched him yell at a security guard who was doing his job. He called him
Hitler or something close.
What a guy
yah Corden is just the best, you can tell that is REALLY him at all times... not a show at all
Don't feel that with Fallon
he looks like a sweet humble person
He's straight up outsourced jimmy Fallon
Nah he's fake as shit
Revolver sounds like you're jealous
James Corden is the sweetest jelly bean. What a brilliant, beautiful, kind, and sadly rare individual.

Gaj B Watch your disgusting language.
I remember the George Michael video for comic relief smithy is always great on it
forgot about it until now
James Corden is such a breath of fresh air! I heart him.
Wow, I applaud the internationalist approach of seeing the world. Stop division amongst ppl.
Yep to much political and religious b.s. We are all human and the same
He is so sweet and genuine and adorable ❤️💚💙💜💗

You've been indoctrinated from a young age into supporting nationalism
Honestly don't know how Americans live in such utilitarian cities, it's very much soul crushing for anyone that grew up in a European city.
I live in America and I don't know how anybody does it.

we had to make up for sending you Piers Morgan so we sent you James Corden . :-)
Hahaha!!! Thank you very very much
Thx for James, and John Oliver; and a belated thanks for Christopher Hitchens.
Mr. Oliver just makes me smile. He's naturally funny.
And thanks for, you know, the prototypical United States.
We don't want this fat piece of insecure shit. You can have him back.
Steph e James owwwww ❤️❤️❤️ And they freaking hugged each other at the end!!!!

I agree James for President. Does anybody remember Arnold?
YAASS, make it happen. Swap him for Trump :D
You mean James for Prime Minister!
President of the World cuz in his eyes there should be no division of who's from where, we're all from here.
NO MORE CELEBRITY PREZ'S THANK YOU, I DON'T CARE IF IT'S OPRAH
He is like the teddy bear guy friend we all loved in high school. What a beautiful human being!
colbert looked like he was going for a sensual makeout when he reached over for that hug.
Including food.
Helen Mirren has something to say about that!
awww he's so humble, love him!
I honestly love James. What he says here is so very true.
Why am I crying? What Corden says at the end is beautiful.
Ah. It's nice to hear him mention Gavin and Stacey. ^-^
As it's already known, james is a person we wish we could see more of in the world with such a kind and generous heart. Just look at him blush at 5:20 confirms he has one of the most honest and trustworthy souls. It's always a beautiful feeling to see good people living happily.
THANK YOU FOR FINALLY SAYING IT JAMES CORDEN YOU PRECIOUS HUMAN BEING
I'm high watching this but I totally agree with what he said about being a citizen of the world and not of a country
the only way to start solving real problems really.
thank fuck that hippie pipe dream is just a pipe dream and has no basis in reality
+tgwttdh Why is everyone cooperating to a certain extent a bad thing?
+Rust R you're not advocating co-operation what your advocating is a "no border" policy which is sheer lunacy
tgwttdh Well "no border" won't work right now, so no I'm not advocating that. I'm not talking within our lifetime here.
What he says about architecture in London, it's so true!!! God, I miss London
This was actually very emotional and lovely
That was very beautiful. I think the most beautiful thing about that is knowing that someone truly believes it. Meanwhile, I get more cynical as the days progress. It was very nice to hear his POV.
Absolutely, what a beautiful sentiment!
When comedians/entertainers get serious and deep, it's really great.
James Corden for President? lol
of the world!
he's like the anti-Trump
ReelRisky Reviews world president is still good though
He is sooo sweet and so true.
And totally agree about the architecture bit
Damn that was powerful!

He's sweet lets make him president!
IDIOT
There is just something so charming and down to earth about him. He can flawlessly go back and forth between being silly and inspiring and that is very impressive. You just know he is very genuine.
Somewhere an intern is tearing out his - "THAT WAS MY IDEA!!" Darn you James for taking credit for carpool karaoke lol
I would say Flula
Lol, no, James's George Michael skit is from 2011. I dare say the intern was 16 at the time.,., lol. But funny comment.
Shut up you fucking moron
+jackk shhhhh
I genuinely wanted to take a look at the comments' section after this video was done. Such a feel good feeling at the end of this one.
George Michael was the first one to do carpool
That "thanks man!" was so cute 😂
What an absolute sweetheart.
Can never get enough of James. 😍
That was some profound shit James.
what a humble and kind man
aww what he said about the divisions being man-made and how we should look at it as just earth that we should all protect it is so nice. i wish people would view life and the world the way he does.
Smithy is my spirit animal.
That reference XD
This just made me love James Corden even more!
I fucking love James Corden.
Coming from James Cordens Late Late Show, hello Colbert army !
Who knew James was so philosophical?! LOVE IT!
Its very hard not to feel good with a big smile on your face with James Corden, he is simply funny without feeling the need of putting people down which is the norm these days.
James Corden is such a pure wholesome human being and looks he'd give the best hugs.
That was absolutely lovely.
It makes me really happy to know that such a genuine guy James has made it big.
RIP George Michael
Citizen of the world...wow beautifully put words together...James is amazing.
The Whole time in this video, I was super anxious that he will knock the cup, on the desk, over with his hand accidentally!!!
Yet at home you are strangely relaxed when someone puts their mug on the couch and it doesn't bother you at all
Rik Spilz how do you know?? WTF
I have the superpower invisibility of course, and I put it to damn good use
Thank you guys for keeping the flame of hope and world peace alive. I love your show Steven, and James. ... remarkable
I fell in love with him back when he did Gavin and Stacy
Me too! Sadly the audience didn't cheer when he mentioned the show. The US are missing out on some tidy comedy.
h
Laura Purling hahaha thats crackin that is
i fell in love with him as craig on doctor who, personally. their personalities seem super aligned and similar, tbh. love it and him 😊
wow, now i appreciate james corden even more! never watched him being interviewed like this. beautiful as well.
James Corden really is a special gem
he is the cutest human maybe ever to exist.
at the end when he said "thanks, man" and kind of chuckled i think my heart melted into a million little bits of chocolate and puppy kisses
That subtle bash at Trump
Jimmy Savile did a similar show back in the 70s with celebs, there may even be other car-based progs predating this
Everything is a remix.
Wow! I love you James! And you too Stephen!
I saw the carpool karaoke he did with Adele. That was it nothing could top it. I haven't watched it since.
watch Steve Wonder Carpool that is 10 times better than Adele
London Cason
personal taste
How would you know?
The Red Hot Chilli Peppers one is utterly perfect. I think it will not offend your Adele episode (which is also very good).
writerconsidered Jennifer Hudson
I miss London' architecture, too. 'cause I've never been anywhere, but my house..
I love both of them!
That Comic Relief sketch was one of the funniest things I've ever watched
I want to go to Europe because of the architecture
It's beautiful. I wasn't even there very long, but you'll love it.
Liberty S. been there done it.
What a cinnamon roll. James Corden you are amazing.
James Corden, you British speaking panda-lookin' human being, I love you. ❤️
Amazing loving human been , we need tons of you❤
This makes me think of a great quote from the great teacher and philosopher Bahá'u'lláh: "Ye are the fruits of one tree and the leaves of one branch"
Never have I ever heard those wise words from anyone's mouth. Ever. Thankfully someone has put it into words 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
