The riff that starts at 5:11 is in my opinion the one the best riffs of all time. Absolutely beautifully done by layering multiple guitars making it sound so epic and apocalyptic.
This is nothing short of an absolute masterpiece, there's such a range of emotions. That bridge nearly brought me to tears, but it still doesn't compromise it's aggressiveness. It's criminal that so few people know this song.
I feel like this song is a little bit different compared to their other songs. It seems like all their other songs are heavy through the entire way but this one is different in a way and I like it. Kinda wish they made more songs like these.
I have to say this is the first time I've heard black metal and death metal mixed properly without one genre overlapping. I mean I love Behemoth but they don't seem to have an organic mix, sometimes it sounds more death metal, sometimes more black, but this mixes the two so organically and seamlessly... Well done.
+Thomas Peck The middle section where it's all fast and shit. That's death metal right there. At least I'm pretty sure. You can definitely hear it in their other songs.
CthulhuDarkLord Lighting Bolt is the "Visions" of RB4. Not fun to play for any instruments. Dead Black Heart of Ice is pretty fun to play on almost all the instruments. Is my favorite devil-tiered song as well.
What I think is really cool about the song is at 7:25 the bass drum is playing ninth notes, which are pretty rare but sound awesome in 12/8 or 9/8 time. If you have no idea what any of that means, they're basically triplets within triplets.
Played this song at an arcade on rock band and some dude was mad that I was playing metal and asked me to turn it off. He didn't even work there. He also said that I was a devil worshipper. I told him that I payed to play this song and had the right to play what ever I wanted if I payed for it. He got pissed and left the arcade.
Rock Band 4 made this one of my favorite songs! Will admit. With all the freestyle solos, they made all the songs easy because they basically took out all the hard part of the devil tiers. Especially With Metropolis Pt.1.
Yeah I was looking for tabs, couldn’t find anything, so I decided to just learn it by ear. I don’t know the whole song tho. I only know up to the end of the heavy riff at the beginning.
I watched a friend do the vocals for this song on RB4 and we were all laughing so hard cuz it didn't have any actual notes so he just over exaggerated stuff and poked a little fun. it was so funny XD
+jrod0125 I personally think it's about war and the dangers of war. Winter's calling Clawing her way into my veins Dragging me to sleep Her freezing embrace comforts me As it makes me feel no more - This is what it feels like in the war - it's cold, freezing, and is tearing the soldiers apart until they feel nothing anymore. Ancient pale hands broken Wrenched around the Devil's horns Black veins pulse with hate for life Cold, rot - This shows that the soldiers on both sides are killing people and soon get used to killing. On march the wayward hordes Killing for the crimson road Black sewn eyes shut in fool's blood As they seek the path of righteous war - And yet they still keep going - fighting, killing, massacring for 'the crimson road' which to me symbolizes just killing because they're 'supposed to'. Horizons vacant Exhaling red frost As the stars gaze down and witness doom Empty night calls to the soul Reality splinters, freeing the spirit Shackles break, free to roam Shadow wondering in fog Free of existence and it's laws -This is the 'art of killing' so to speak. The act of killing and torturing is being released because of war. They're crawling I'm clawing my way into their veins Dragging them to sleep The dying of their soul comforts me As they feel no more - I have two theories about this. 1) it's the 'act of killing' mentioned last stanza, ready to act upon humanity 2) It's a reversed act of the first stanza - in the perspective of war itself. War is crawling and clawing it's way to destruction - and the realization comes in. War isn't a good thing, war is a villain. And that's what I think the song tries to prove. War is bad, it's a villain, nothing good ever comes from war. That's just the way I think.
EPIC...dang..how I never heard of these guys before I don't know..i put them a step below "Becoming the Archetype" which is by far the most technically brutal christian deathcore(prog) band in my opinion. I love it when a metal band puts their songs together like a classical song. And the vocals are refreshing..i hate how a lot of newer bands like "all that remains" and "killswitch engage" have started to shy away from the deathcore type vocals..even though their metalcore I get it but dang.
It's wrong to completely discount harsh vocals as so many do, people just need to give them a chance. When done well they can convey just as much if not more of emotion like melancholy, pain, and sadness than clean vocals can - which perfectly suits this music..
Darth Vader being someone's opinion doesn't make it any more or less valid. He's completely right, it's not Black Death Metal if the vocals aren't extremely aggressive and growled. The vocals are what makes the genre in this case.
i like when guitar hero and rock band put good unpopular songs its the best thing
This wasn't in Guitar hero, it was only in Rock Band.
Yikes he’s talking about songs in general
Yeah some of the rock band songs have only a few thousand views
Honestly, my favorite song to play on RB4
E-123 Omega me too :)
Same here. Never heard of this band before, but that song so awesome that I can't even explaine how awesome it is!
Same😀
E-123 Omega same
they’re from my home state 🤘
The riff that starts at 5:11 is in my opinion the one the best riffs of all time. Absolutely beautifully done by layering multiple guitars making it sound so epic and apocalyptic.
THIS
This is nothing short of an absolute masterpiece, there's such a range of emotions. That bridge nearly brought me to tears, but it still doesn't compromise it's aggressiveness. It's criminal that so few people know this song.
You write beautifully so beautiful that you said the words I could never put into a sentence. I never could express anything that well
Bonitas palavras, e você disse tudo, embora seja uma música que faça você chorar, não perde sua agressividade...
Great song, sad to see it's not getting any popularity.
Right
***** it would count if rock band 4 wasn't a flop.
+DeathBat oh snap
+DeathBat mmm
your right i wad gonna say that
4:20 this is why love black metal. Pure, raw, unadulterated emotion
Speaking of which, love the profile pic man, dissection is so underrated
what an amazing piece of work. this is a beautiful, dirty, but chanting song. I cannot believe I just found this. THANK YOU RB4!!!
I grew up with the guitarists tommy we are all proud of these guys!!!! Middlesex country MA
This shall be played at my funeral. The greatest and most touching song of our time.
4:35 solo fucking amazing never heard anything like this, amazing honestly.
Honestly
This song is musically brilliant.
The guitar in this song is probably the most masterfully pieced together one I’ve ever heard, more people need to get a look on this
I feel like this song is a little bit different compared to their other songs. It seems like all their other songs are heavy through the entire way but this one is different in a way and I like it. Kinda wish they made more songs like these.
Iza
This song is fucking legendary, and it’s a damn shame it doesn’t get more attention
Songs like this one don’t even need words. The instruments convey the raw emotion. Reminds me a little of buckethead. A little..
Fa
This band is criminally underrated it's good to see that RB4 was able to shine some light on this masterpiece
The guitar playing is the real highlight of the song
I'm a pretty big death metal guy. After playing your song in RB4, I am immediately going to grab your albums when I can. Amazing stuff guys. Good job
Soul Remnants is still going strong and just recently got a record deal, so more great songs are on the way!
This song is fucking fun as hell in Rock Band 4, so glad I got introduced to you guys. I had never heard of them before!
+Matthieu “SweptbackFlame” Bourque Same here. One of the best tracks in RB4 imo. I had never heard of the band before.
I have to say this is the first time I've heard black metal and death metal mixed properly without one genre overlapping. I mean I love Behemoth but they don't seem to have an organic mix, sometimes it sounds more death metal, sometimes more black, but this mixes the two so organically and seamlessly... Well done.
Maybe my ears aren't too accustomed to blackened death metal but I don't hear much death metal here I most just hear the black metal
+Thomas Peck The middle section where it's all fast and shit. That's death metal right there. At least I'm pretty sure. You can definitely hear it in their other songs.
This song sounds like it will be fun in RB4. Especially watching my friends do the vocals. XD
***** Sounds like solid guitar and drums.
it's rb4
+CBScares it is very fun definitely one of the best tracks on stock track list. Almost as enjoyable as that moment you land hail the king's intro
Hail to the kings beginning part on RB4 guitar is tricky.
Its down right evil. The problem is it's so long.. And it happens twice in the song.. And that solo.. Oh god the solo
This,Lighting Bolt and Metropolis Pt. 1 are probably going to be Devil Tier songs.
Not bad.
House of Vahalla is actually really hard as well.
Halls of Valhalla* my bad. 😅
Lightning Bolt is insane... Like it's not even fun. This is difficult but super fun to play.
CthulhuDarkLord Lighting Bolt is the "Visions" of RB4. Not fun to play for any instruments.
Dead Black Heart of Ice is pretty fun to play on almost all the instruments. Is my favorite devil-tiered song as well.
+Samuel Blenke Metropolis Pt 1 is actually not that bad, surprisingly.
What I think is really cool about the song is at 7:25 the bass drum is playing ninth notes, which are pretty rare but sound awesome in 12/8 or 9/8 time.
If you have no idea what any of that means, they're basically triplets within triplets.
I agree it sounds badass lol
Yes! 😻
Aan
Eighth Note Triplets?
I fucking love this music idk why its so good
metal brings out more emotions than anyone could imagine
I fell in love with this song since I listened to it for the 1st time. Of course I had to buy the whole record.
Probably my favorite metal song, I don't understand why the popularity in this song is low. But I like to thank Harmonix for helping them out.
I feel cold and shivering every time I hear this song. It's a great work
I'm blown the FUCK away!!!!! 10/10 BRILLIANT!!!!!!
Yan
I really love the beginning instrumental 💛
this song is perfection
Absolutely love this song!
Very good song this
the riff at 5:15 is one of my favorite in some time.
AGREE 100%.. IT'S HONESTLY MY FAVORITE RIFF OF ALL TIME.
me too!!!! i love you!!
Rock Band 4 made this one of my favorite songs! Will admit. With all the freestyle solos, they made all the songs easy because they basically took out all the hard part of the devil tiers. Especially With Metropolis Pt.1.
yeah this song is so good probably one of my favorite songs and its RB4 and its so much fun to play tho
But
93 dislikes? What's not to like about this song? This song is soooooo freaking epic. One of my favorite songs by far
amazing song!!! i love it!
Really shocked that they put an actual metal song on Rock Band, especially one that's really good. Compared to the garbage that usually is on there.
Andrew Wukusick fuckin lmfao is on there for f's sake
This is waaaaay better than that song on rock band 2 "Visions" by Abnormality.
@@jadenthemusicfreak Bro I know Visions was so freaking random and a questionable pick for sure.
@@michaelrubino5897 Yeah I didn't like Visions. Dead Black Heart Of Ice is a masterpiece and not just by comparison.
I cant stop listening to this 🤯🔥
whatever you guys did at 3:36 changed my life man
I got enjoy this song and like many others I found it on rockband and I love playing the guitar line
I play this song on lot in Rock band
amazing song
Really nice, sounds like a modern version of early Opeth.
Somebody really needs to tab the whole thing.
+Ryan Hansen yes!
I tabbed the riff that plays at around 2:15. Haven't put it anywhere, though.
Trent Stines you should put them somewhere I've been looking for any kind of tabs for this song and can't find a thing.
Yeah I was looking for tabs, couldn’t find anything, so I decided to just learn it by ear. I don’t know the whole song tho. I only know up to the end of the heavy riff at the beginning.
Cant get enough of 4:00 - 5:10
Such a underrated song
Underrated masterpiece
Dude when he drops that hit with his foot peddles it sounds fucking amazing
I watched a friend do the vocals for this song on RB4 and we were all laughing so hard cuz it didn't have any actual notes so he just over exaggerated stuff and poked a little fun. it was so funny XD
Ldg
the riff at 2:01 is the fucking best oh my goddddd
This is good, I was hoping for Opeth in Rock Band 4 but this is not bad consolation, still hopeful for DLC though.
+talussAthner Ghost of Perdition is already DLC, if you didnt know
I know, I was hoping for more lol.
I would love to see a death metal dlc
This is an amazing song on the RB4 setlist
I found this song because of Rock Band, now I’m obsessed
Increibles!!1 saludos desde Costa Rica!!
Amazing song!
thanks rock band 4
Underrated RB
It has pretty cool music
if this was just instrumental it would be perfect for an epic movie scene
Rock band classic
the best song of RB4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so good
Reminds me of In Flames, Jesters Race
guys it's 2017 can we pls stop acting like singing is the only "proper" vocal technique?
Somewhere between Melo Death an Black Metal. this song.
vocals on expert
6:05 - 6:15 makes me want to cry ;)
4:50-5:10 makes me cry too 💔
I love the instrumentals in this, but not the vocals... Still a damn good piece of metal.
Mtl
i love the background riff in rb4
Ok, time yo spread the divine voice of God un the form of music
im not a harsh vocal person but this song makes me bang my head so hard lmao! i love it and i get off on RB4
Still a banger to play on RB4
Best song on rb4 other than halls of Valhalla
Just gold stared this on expert drums rb4
Wow nice!
4:17 is responsible for so many headbangovers
Played it on RB4, liked it, but what is the song about?
+jrod0125 I personally think it's about war and the dangers of war.
Winter's calling
Clawing her way into my veins
Dragging me to sleep
Her freezing embrace comforts me
As it makes me feel no more
- This is what it feels like in the war - it's cold, freezing, and is tearing the soldiers apart until they feel nothing anymore.
Ancient pale hands broken
Wrenched around the Devil's horns
Black veins pulse with hate for life
Cold, rot
- This shows that the soldiers on both sides are killing people and soon get used to killing.
On march the wayward hordes
Killing for the crimson road
Black sewn eyes shut in fool's blood
As they seek the path of righteous war
- And yet they still keep going - fighting, killing, massacring for 'the crimson road' which to me symbolizes just killing because they're 'supposed to'.
Horizons vacant
Exhaling red frost
As the stars gaze down and witness doom
Empty night calls to the soul
Reality splinters, freeing the spirit
Shackles break, free to roam
Shadow wondering in fog
Free of existence and it's laws
-This is the 'art of killing' so to speak. The act of killing and torturing is being released because of war.
They're crawling
I'm clawing my way into their veins
Dragging them to sleep
The dying of their soul comforts me
As they feel no more
- I have two theories about this.
1) it's the 'act of killing' mentioned last stanza, ready to act upon humanity
2) It's a reversed act of the first stanza - in the perspective of war itself. War is crawling and clawing it's way to destruction - and the realization comes in. War isn't a good thing, war is a villain. And that's what I think the song tries to prove. War is bad, it's a villain, nothing good ever comes from war.
That's just the way I think.
cold, winter , women “maybe” , suffering and dying . u know , usual metal dark atmosphere .
rock band4 got this song
EPIC...dang..how I never heard of these guys before I don't know..i put them a step below "Becoming the Archetype" which is by far the most technically brutal christian deathcore(prog) band in my opinion. No
Any songs similar to this. Not into death metal much but I am into thrash metal
The moor, opeth
I ain't a fan of the vocals but love the guitar and tune itself
Time signature?
mostly 3/4 and 6/8.
😍😍😍
So fucking underrated
harika intro ya
Screw....this....song....on....rockband......4......drums xD
Kingkingkinghadirihadiri
Lulu
It would be my favorite song if not for the ear-grinding vocals.
Dusty365365 wouldn't be nearly as aggresive with clean vocals tho
Is it weird that I sleep while this song is playing?
This is a break up song for metal heads.

166,666 views lol
It is I play that on expert
Am I the only one not from RB4 here?
Really dislike the vocals, but the instrumental is pretty fire.
The vocals are really well done, you're just naive.
Did I say they were poorly done? No, I just said I didn't like them. Is it so wrong to like clean vocals?
It's wrong to completely discount harsh vocals as so many do, people just need to give them a chance. When done well they can convey just as much if not more of emotion like melancholy, pain, and sadness than clean vocals can - which perfectly suits this music..
top kek he literally gave them a chance and didn't like them
What's with the elitism, friend? Bug up your butt?
not a fan of this type of singing, but the song itself is amazing.
fu ku
Tell me the beginning doesn't sound at all like "The day that never comes" by Metallica... the screamo is bullshit..
+itzalexplox this isn't screamo.
5dirtyCubans still sounds gay
+itzalexplox Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
itzalexplox You want to talk gay? Old (and some new) Disturbed, you know with the dick sucking noise the singer makes in like 80% of their songs
5dirtyCubans I rarely listen to that stuff
i find some parts a little repetitive. And the vocals a little disappointing, i can't understand a thing lmao, besides that, fire
I like this song a lot but I feel like the singing makes it less enjoyable.
MasterMavrick Yeah, it's a great guitar song but the singing kind of ruins it. Still pretty good, though.
This is an excellent song, too bad the vocals make it cringy as fuck. An instrumental would be awesome.
It's Black Death metal, it doesn't make it cringy, it makes it better.
Apparently everything makes someone cringe now. Even standard extreme metal vocals in extreme metal songs. The mind boggles.
At least you can understand what the vocalist is saying.
AzTc Phobia your opinion
Darth Vader being someone's opinion doesn't make it any more or less valid. He's completely right, it's not Black Death Metal if the vocals aren't extremely aggressive and growled. The vocals are what makes the genre in this case.
the beginning is so good the riff puts you in a trance
One time I played the song on RB4, I let my phone sing the whole song using memes
