I doubt anyone is gonna beat that (overall) time. The first mission was beaten by 2 seconds somehow..
Anyways, I'm not planning on running this again. I wanted to try linux tasing in the future.

After 100 and so tries i beat this mission even faster than this but then my mem card suddenly doesn't work. So i beat the game without saving afterwards. It was pain in the ass. This mission is the worst.

My favorite mission was Lenny escaping. Very scary with the risky route I take. Which is why I like 3d driving tases. Anything goes.

Wait is TAS means the you feed the system all the inputs and play it for you, so how does that work in driving games since its RNG where the cars appear? Or it’s just an A.I who does the work? I don’t actually know how TAS work in driving games nor anyone explains it.
@@thetimers1973 Its not a bot playing the game for me. Its inputs being recorded into a text file as I play the game. I can slow the game down and even go frame by frame to overcome human reflexes. I can make save states and load them whenever I want. Its pretty much saving anywhere in the game. When recording inputs, if I load a save state, all the inputs after that save state are erased so I can redo those inputs into a favorable outcome. Its to demonstrate what is theoretically possible that a normal human can't perform.
So many memories!! This game was so far ahead of it's time.

this game is my childhood even though i could never get past the second mission chasing the blue car, just recently, i finished the game after forgetting it for a long time. it literally took me 13 years to finish it :P 5-18

If you turn left at 1:28:48 right off the road, there is an entrance to the highway leading directly to ghost town, which wold save at least half a minute if not 40s.
Yeah I know, I found that out by accident in my old tas. Forgot all about it here as I was "following" a different run.
Intervention was used at least in pursuit as it's incredible to be so close to the hunted, especially clearly in Chase The Gunman. Playful pens of record holders visited the memory of PSX

Before GTA 3 dropped on PS2 this game was the shit! I remember playing for hours on original Playstation.
Yeah, I can't wait until gta 3 can be tased on bizhawk. There was an attempt to add dobiestation to bizhawk, but a roadblock the developer reached left him clueless as to why it broke. It can load games, inputs work, but no game was able to go in-game. Even though the source code was never changed and on the Dobiestation capability, gta 3 is marked as "perfect" and that game doesn't even show a splash screen.

One major flaw in the run: starting in the middle of rio, I got a new laptop which for some reason disabled my ability to auto fire x and left at the same time. If I remake this run, I will further utilize that trick. It's really easy to perform. Just auto fire x and turn in some direction. I'm not really satisfied with this run yet. Being stuck on Linux means i can't do ps1 tasing until it is implemented

There's a lot of interesting games that don't have a speedrun(yet) spyhunter(gba doesn't even have a complete playthrough let alone a speedrun), driver 2 gba(a tas would involve much more luck manipulation than it's ps1 counter part), and others I don't want to point out with uncertainty

Thats actually intentionally. For some reason, if you make the jump smoothly, the level takes longer to complete. If you make that scary landing, it ends faster.

I dont know. Btw, in the chase the gunman, getting through that gate was very precise. Took a lot of rerecords to perform that. Another entertainment trade off! In my old 22m tas, I made a different approach. By having him hit my side rather than the back.

13:57 What I use to do whenever the cops were on my tail as I’m flying over the bridge, I’ll hit the brakes mid air and the car would immediately drop while the cops are flying across the street and end up crashing themselves into a building or onto oncoming cars lol. I’ve done this on many occasions back in the day, it actually works.

Also a question, at 42:17, if you get off the car and let the enemy hit your car, does it damage him? because maybe you can shave off a second maybe... or the game only counts damage while inside?
Marco Laranja 1st of all, there’s still plenty of room for improvement, new strategy for a few missions were found and better routing.
You’d have to be at a complete stop to get out anyways which is difficult to optimize. I’m not planning on redoing this any time soon.

In the first Rio mission, Bus Crush, wouldn't it be faster if you go back to the base with a normal car though? We don't have to bring the bus back home.
You can download Redriver 2, the PC port of this game. Some bugs in PS1 have been fixed and some new features have been added!

what tool assist has been used in this speedrun? and how many time you lost because of low fps in game? :D
I used bizhawk to tas this game. Frame advance, save state/load state, and slow motion were used in making this. Also, the video is converted to 60FPS where the real one is 30FPS. That's why the video length is shorter.

No issue with the graphics, they honestly look pretty great. Framerate was pretty wonky though.
It did, in its own time. Some day (maybe now) Bioshock's gonna look dated, but I was amazed when I first saw Rapture in Andrew Ryan's introduction in 2007.

I'm aware. I actually took that route in my old tas by accident. With this one I was following the 2h28m rta run. Surprised he never took that route after playing the game so many times

I recently re-purchased this game on eBay and have my original ps1 memory card with my OLD driver 2 save on it and I was literally stuck on the chase the gunman mission lol but finally completed the game yesterday lol. Just shows where I actually gave up 😂😂

Someone recently got close to beating it. My run is kinda rushed. Meaning I didn't put a lot of work into it. Plus it has outdated routes

..yeah. the cop didn't care I hit his car. The reason why is because the game only has cops chase if they're in a specific zone on the radar. It's that like smoky zone on the radar. Pass through that and the cops will chase you
