If this boohockey you're saying about fish not having true tongues is legit, how come you didn't tell me that in the video where you talked about a parasite biting off a fish's tongue and replacing it G-FRAGGIN-DANG IT?!? I feel misled. I feel betrayed. Like you're a flim-flam artist taking me on a sham ride to dumbsville, by golly!
You are right, SciShow Quiz Show is the only quiz show called SciShow Quiz Show. But there is another channel called SciShow Quiz Show, and they do a quiz show, but their quiz show is called SciShow Quiz Show Quiz Show. In SciShow Quiz Show Quiz Show you have to answer questions about SciShow Quiz Show, like when the first episode of SciShow Quiz Show was aired. Also there is a quiz show called SciShow Quiz where you you are given a topic and you have to guess in which episode of SciShow it appeared. And finally there are are the shows "the SciShow Show", "Sci Show Quiz - the Show" and "the SciShow Quiz Show Show". They all are actually musicals and Hank is played by Muscle Hank in each.
I want to see Jessie vs Emily in a quiz show specifically about animals. They are both super knowledgable about animals, but have totally different backgrounds, one as an animal caretaker and educator and the other from a museum background.
@@matthewharris-levesque5809 Emily was a guest once in an Animal Wonders episode and I think there were 2 SciShow TalkShow episodes with Emily and as usual, Jessi came with animals.
It’s so weird to see Michael Aranda without his ear plugs and blonde patch. It took me a minute and o notice. Wow! I’m so slow. He looks fine without them, I’m just not used to it.
Guinea pigs! Socialized pigs are amazingly lovey and all are highly vocal. My boys love their little brother (20lb cat) and their older sister (65lb dog). They can be very timid, but are great companions
Jesse got screwed on the polar bear question. The fur isn't white. It is clear. It only looks white under the conditions of nature, where there is a lot of it in bright sunlight. If they said "hollow fur" she would have gotten it right and it would have fit better with the explanation they gave.
I agree. When he listed the choices he said “their white fur” which led me to think it couldn’t have been that one since polar bears are black with clear fur!!
color is just the materials ability to reflect certain wavelengths of the light spectrum, so yes - while it may be see-through technically, it does reflect most of the light, making it appear white. and since they're hollow, refraction also comes into play : > (this also brings modern fiber optics to mind(2-layer fibres), really smart and simple, yet hard to create)
First of all, it really doesn't matter. That said, just to make the point, I would have not said anything if this were an informational video or if it were on QI where trick questions upon trick questions are the point and you are supposed to get things wrong even if you think you know the trick. I disagree with the wording of the question (and again, I really don't care, but I'm explaining my comment, it really doesn't matter) only because it is a well known trick question that they likely both knew that Polar Bear fur is clear. And their explanation had to do with the fact that the fur is hollow, not white. It appears white for the same reason that the hollow clear strands do what they explained in the answer, but it was tricky in a way uncharacteristic of this show.
It's great that FIRSTNAME was able to encourage LOSINGCONTESTANT after that first round. I'm sure it really helped! They are putting up a good fight against WINNINGCONTESTANT.
Animal Wonders is a fantastic organization, you can donate to them by buying toys for their cute animals and they always respond to you when you do personally. OR they have for me. Jesse is a FANTASTIC human being and she and her animals deserve more than I could ever give them.
A new episode of Sci Show quiz show! Weirdness ensues! Also, Micheal’s face at 4:20. PS Hank, you know why you keep losing? Ya keep betting all yer money :L
I think we have an abundance of fat cells as an evolutionary advantage to a nomadic lifestyle. It allows us to survive in places where we may not have access to our typical daily caloric intake, while we are traveling in search for a more stable environment.
I think there might be a small mistake on the last question explanation. It seems like you used both eyes for the goats (340 degrees) and one eye for humans (120 degrees) because humans have about 180 degree field of vision with both eyes (partially overlapping) and I don't see how a goat could see 340 degrees per eye but that would be amazing!
Wait, I’m pretty sure fish do have tongues. The tongue-eating isopod is a parasitic isopod that eats the tongue of a fish and attaches itself to the stump. Edit: I just looked it up. Fish have “tongues” that aren’t actually tongues.
Ooookay hold on just one minute there - I'm almost positive it was SciShow that taught me about that horrifying parasite that eats and then replaces fishes' tongues, and I'm almost positive the episode that taught me about them used the word "tongue" and not a little mound on the floor of the mouth. I could also be remembering all this wrong, as I do have notoriously bad memory, but whatever the case, hearing that fish don't have tongues is throwing me for a serious loop!
If this boohockey you're saying about fish not having true tongues is legit, how come you didn't tell me that in the video where you talked about a parasite biting off a fish's tongue and replacing it G-FRAGGIN-DANG IT?!? Can any one tell me how fast this channel has grown ... I can't remember how many subs they had at any point, but 5.1 M is a lot! Seems like it was much lower when subbed 2 years ago (obviously) and it seems like it was a lot lower when I last looked but I just don't remember when that was or what their sub count was. Good to see it so high, its been a favorite of mine since I found it, good content and fun to watch. Cheers
Hey Scishow team! I see you regularly doing those quizzshows and I have a great Idea: Why dont you guys make a monthly TH-cam Quizz and give away some sciency stuff gadgets or Schishow merch (with "I won the Scishow Quizzshow, August 2018" for example) ? You ask Questions that have been answered in the videos of that month. This way you encourage people to watch your videos and educate themselves. You could make collaberation quizzes with the other Scishow channels to encourage people to check them out regularly and get ibterested in those as well. It's also a great way to reward Faithfull viewers who watch the videos on a regular basis. I as a regular viewer would love to take part in a quizz for fun to check what I have learned.
120 degrees? Well, maybe, if you're only interested in what we can see binocularly. More like 190 degrees otherwise, which is what is being measured in goats and such. Find a long wall. A long one, like the outside of a large building. Stand with your back against the wall and look straight ahead. You should be able to see the wall peripherally. That means you're seeing more than 180 degrees. In fact, you're seeing 175 degrees with each eye, which isn't far off from what a goat eye sees. The position of the eyes plays a much greater role. Also, we see 120 degrees *vertically*.
Despite her smiley, warm persona and her caring nature I am starting to think Jesse is evil. Who else would think to distract her opponent with a few cute Guinea Pigs? I mean beyond causing Hank to constantly chase one of them around his body it failed, but it was a cunning plan! Haha Dave J (NFi)
Caroline Prince I completely forgot about this! In which case, I now am no longer beginning of to think she is evil, I am hoping to learn from her unusual brand of Villainy! Haha Dave J (NFi)
I feel like there should be a trophy that the current winner holds until the next show and by winner i mean hank or whoever he is battling not the patreon supporters I mean their putting in the work there should be some sort of physical representation of that something they can rub in each other's faces you know all the good stuff that goes with winning lol
So fish don't have tongues and a lot of people are asking about the tongue-eating louse or just wondering about the tongues they have seen in fish. I have found that this part of a fish's body is referred to as the basihyal. (Pronounced like "basil" without the "l" or "basic" without the "c" and then "hi ya'll". Put an s at the end to make it plural.) As they say in the video, it is different from a tongue. It is not muscular, has limited mobility, and is even described as bony. Also fried cod tongues are not tongues either, just a morsel of flesh from the cod's lower throat area.
So I was watching this while on the phone with my friend (we often just each do our own thing, maybe saying a sentence or two every few minutes) and we have an inside joke of saying "Hey Michael" to each other despite neither of us being named Michael and I was watching this and I hear "WAIT WHAT'S HIS NAME"

Soo.... TL;DR SciShow is SciShow, which is actually SciShow?
Did I just have a small stroke, or did anyone get a headache reading this, yet completely understand it?
I think it might have been a sudden stroke! Paul /Jeff - Are you OK?
Paul Paulson Thanks for the laugh..
another CGP Grey tshirt with no CGP Grey... you guys should figure out when he's in the US and give him a mask so he'll appear on the show already
I want to see Jessie vs Emily in a quiz show specifically about animals. They are both super knowledgable about animals, but have totally different backgrounds, one as an animal caretaker and educator and the other from a museum background.
i mean, i'd jump on that bandwagon myself, if only cause Jessie is so damn cute :D
+
Plus they are both such adorable humans. :) I support this idea.
I don't think it was quiz, but those two HAVE been in a room together at least twice i think.
Can't remember when or what.

MissLilyputt it took me 2 mins 45 sec and your comment to notice 😔
worm tape its like duck tape but made from worms instead of ducks hank green 2018
Is duck tape even made out of ducks?
"you're meat!" Guinea Pig tries to run away "hey! Where're you going little guy??" GEE I WONDER, HANK??? Poor guy got scared!!
I love how Michael just speaks more quietly while they're all fawning over the baby guinea pigs 😄
That's caaled good manners, right?
Jessi and Hank geeking out over tongues while Micheal just stands awkwardly in the back is hilarious

Something is white if it looks white. Sugar is transparent too, but lots of little crystals of it look white.
Freefle Fair enough, except that is a well known trick question.

I am never going to get over the idea of a meat tentacle in my mouth. Gah.

You're here for science.

This is the rated R version of Sci Show. You can say g-darn all you want. LoL. Also, aren’t humans also animals?
MissLilyputt yes but we don’t like referring to each other as such
Two-Face o you can call me a animal😏
Also, didn't question one say that humans are animals? "The Human Animal."

A Tr hank won tho
I was dying at his face!
5:24 "In addition to tongues, which are endlessly fascinating ..."
Ben Goodwin This time. But he keeps betting all his money and losing it.
Jessi has amazing posture!
she's hot as well
Didnt want to be "that guy"... But she really is beautiful.
So what you're telling me, is that goats effectively have Byakugan
I'm 25 now and I learnt about the polar bear hair back in 1st grade, glad to know something I was taught was correct
I love the tongue tangent. I don’t know why but it’s just hilarious.
His face at 4:20 😂😂😂👌
Maeve Noor he is so cute... I miss the blonde spots in his hair
Would someone please do a GIF of that?!
YES SCISHOW QUIZ SHOW!!! I love these so much!
Those Guinea Pigs were sooooo adorable! I will be getting a new piggie for my daughter, soon. I have always loved raising Guinea Pigs :-)
Better worm tape than tapeworm I guess...
If they called this episode “the red green show” that would have been neat
I'd like to recommend everyone listen to the SciShow theme at 1.25x speed.
Love this Show Man its 2 in the mornin' and im still watching yt
Polar Bear fur isn't white
Ryan Davis actually it's transparent. Not white.
If it were truly transparent, then we' be able to see their black skin.
Obviously, you're not a golfer
I like Stefan's nod to CGP Grey :)
Polar bear question shoulda just said hair not white hair
Michael nearly lost control of the herd this episode!
10:05 Michael's tapping to get attention cracked me up!

So why's there a parasite called the tongue-eating louse (Cymothoa exigua) that eats fish tongues then?
BarbarianGod the exact reason they mentioned probably?
Sorry, I didn't catch one during the video, can you elaborate?

Polar Bear fur is acutally transparent, it only appears white because its reflecting the white snow around them
I don't get the polar bear question. The option is WHITE FUR but the explanation explains how it helps keep them warm because the hair is HOLLOW.
Cool CGP Grey shirt Stefan!
Hank v Joe Hanson.
Top ten anime crossovers
I've been asking for that since 2017
Loved this one so much
Ya know Jessi and Hank are old friends right? You are NOT going to keep them on topic. (And who would want that?) :) Love the banter with them
I want a blanket like that!!!
Work Tape! Bought to you by a Tapeworm! Buy it now!
diggin' the CGP grey shirt Stefan

That blanket would come in handy when the Predators land here.
Jessi's shirt is awesome
Michael Aranda is trying so hard to keep this ship on course...
Last time i was this early i got to school 10 minutes after the bell
Wait, 6:30 humans have more fat cells than other animals? Is that why we buy so much fatty food? Because... fat cells?
I don't get this one.....
bishopofapples Fat cells, aka fat sells.
This is my kind of joke 😏
More fat than Wales?? Famous for the oil for street lights.
Master Therion as adults we all have the same amount of fat cells.. It's the size of those fat cells which depict how much weight and shape we have.
Pretty cool especially about polar bolars
everybody knows the goat sees everything.
Either Hank Green is a real charmer or Jesse and him have incredible chemistry.
Yay! So glad Jessi is in this episode :-)
Hold on. Sci show, I'm pretty sure there are some fish that have tongues. There is an isopod-like endo-parasite that eats the tongues of at least one species of fish, and replaces said tongue.
Dudes there are fish with tongues! What are you talking about?!?!

He's got all the ingredients growing in the garden rn, so honestly I'll be disappointed if he doesn't make the dish. I trust that this message falls onto the right ears so John knows to makes ratatouille. from the garden! confit byaldi style!!
Contestant: Michael that doesn’t sound right
Michael: *deep breath* I’m just. Reading. The script.
There is literally a fish-specific parasite called the tongue eating louse...
Does this mean goats see in a cinematic 16:9?
evil universe michael aranda!!!!
Lol love u guys and this show!
Remember the earworm episode where they tricked us into listening to Waterloo by Abba
