So as I said this is a really great camera for someone who just starting out photography or someone that wanted a backup camera.

I have this camera and I have made very great pictures with it and I bough a 35mm F1.8g lens. If you shoot in RAW with it and edit the photos you can create stunning images.
Dac DT I'm thinking of buying this dslr because I'm on a budget. Can you show me some sample pictures with 35 mm lens because I'm planning to get a 35mm lens aswell.
+Dac DT how much did the lens cost. Im sure itll create beutifull bokeh
Now it's obsolete. Won't find it in nearby stores. Better to spend little more and get d3300 or 3500 with 35mm lens. Kit lens is still ok.

i got it for 180€ with bunch of accessories inclusive a camera bag and a 18-55 lens , the camera is in good conditions clean lens and mirror . Its my first dslr
IMHO almost every Nikon camera has something about it I like. I still use my D50 with a 50mm 1.8g lens. This D3100 is a solid performer. It's my vacation camera because it takes excellent pictures and I don't worry about having to spend alot of money to replace it if it gets damaged. Get the best glass you can afford. The kid lens on this unit is solid no complaints.

Yes! I'd love to upgrade but my photo quality is less dependent on the camera model and more dependent on how often I use it and thus get practice/experience.

Agree. I own it for over 3 years now but my samsung phone has better video quality. But with taken photos its great you just have to understand how to use it and set it correctly.
D3100 sucks for videos because only 24 fps. Not good for slow motion. Atleast 30fps could be good not best.
Thanks for the comment, but I personally think that smartphone nowadays has way better video quality, 😆 maybe some of us are spoilt I guess😂

+Wandering Wave No its not good for vlogging. I would suggest you to get canon g7x. Yeah its per recording limit. I wouldn't suggest the d3100 for video its just doesnt have enough quality.

+Wandering Wave its better that d3100 for vlogging if thats what your budget allow. Personaly i would suggest you to get the Sony rx100mk1. Yeah its a little bit expensive but it better for the long run. Plus i dont know any vloggers recomending sony dsc. Ive heard them talk about the rx 100 and canon g7x as a great budget vlogging rig. They do vlogs for real so there might be some reason for them not to recomend the dsc.

Yes! Absolutely. I got mine just to shoot as a hobby, capture pictures of my family. I still think it works great. More important than the camera is a quality lens. I invested in a 50mm f/1.8 lens. Switching lenses was a game changer.

Depends where you get it. If you buy it on eBay, you can get the body for cheap (but used and trashy) or you can buy the kit, which I recommend, for 85 USD (including tax)

In Germany no. The other D3100 were around 230 Euros, and did not even come with a SD card. The only cheaper D3100 are the broken ones, or come without kit. But the kit-less ones are 170ish euros, so the cost is too high for the body, considering you still need the kit.
Oh thats quite high. You can get way cheaper in america. I think its tax price differences.
Nice video mate, very detailed! I think the tag "best budget dslr" doesn't go well with this camera. personally owning this camera for an year, I think the d5200 has much more functionalities. Its my personal preference tho. I use the d810 for my videos...if you are curious

I think the d5200 was made giving a little more attention on the video feature ...It has a external microphone jack, the max recording time is 20 mins compared to only 10 mins on the 3100, It also refreshes live while changing a setting...I think with some color grading, the d5100 can produce some professional looking videos.

Absolutely but it cost more than the d3100. I started photography with the d3100 so it my personal opinion btw.
So I’ve got an iPhone XS Max. I’m looking for a camera to take nice high quality photos with, Maybe some portrait shots. I’m planning on taking some photos on holiday overseas and they’re mostly going to be of the landscape or family pictures. But is there any real reason to buy a camera considering my iPhones capabilities?
Well. It depends on what you define as "High Quality" if you ask me I would definitely get some kind of DSLR. Just keep in mind the hassle of carrying the camera and charging it. But if you are statisfied with what the iphone could offer just go with it😁

Macro has more to do with the lens you choose. This camera would do just fine with macro, assuming you paired it with a decent macro.

The lens attached to the Nikon d3100 was its kit lens 18-55mm lens. I shot the video using Samsung S6😁

InTechxicated wot is the best setting to take photo of my kids with a d3100 please
You can use the kids mode which is in the mode dial. But I would really suggest you to watch any tutorial about the "exposure triangle" you can get a basic understanding on how the camera works.

Yes it could do that. But the sound quality is not anywhere near "good"🤣

Im not going to hate on your video , but it does show that it is not the camera that takes good images , its you . You need to have the eye for it . Dont waste your cash if you cant shoot , there is no point . Who cares . But Ancient civilization;s had a TEST for you , are you worthy of 10Mpix camera , can you see it , take a look at Stars , look at Constellation Ursa major, or Big Dipper , Polar Star , actually its the second star in Big Dipper , , it is 2 stars actually and that is the TEst ! If you can you have good eyesight , you will see Alcor and Mizar , 2 stars if you cant , then maybe you cant see those details .
