As someone who is about to graduate college and move across the country (United States), I needed to hear the first one so much, and I didn’t even realize it until now

Start Now is so true. I went back to school for a second degree in IT because it was my dream, even though I was too old. 5 years later I have my dream job. I only wish I'd done it sooner.

THANK YOU! I really needed to hear this today. Currently living in a home, alone, scraping by to pay monthly expenses, huge increases in utilities and property taxes has emotionally crippled me. I'm on social security which is very limiting and quite a bit older than you which is also a challenge. My desire is to live in a tiny home surrounded by a lovely place. You are very CORRECT about a "wish without a plan is just a dream" AKA "having no plan is a plan to fail" - this is so very important. Your suggestion to break it down into steps even if it's long term can make your wish/dream a reality. You are very lucky to live in Canada and be able to live in such lovely places. Here in the US, we are quite limited as to where we can park a tiny home but things will change I'm sure. Thank you again for this wonderful video!

Hi SIRA. Thanks for the comment. I'm glad you found some value in my words. It can seem impossible that a dream can become a reality. Believe me, I've felt that way. Small steps can give you hope. Good luck ❤️🙏🏼

Have you seen vlogs from Incredible Tiny Homes located in Newport, TN? I’ve seen their vlogs going back 5 years and pleased at their philosophy that if you build it they will come and thrive! The company is owned by Randy Jones. He loves building tiny homes on wheels and developed his land and establishing a communities in his properties. I don’t know what part of the US you are located but it wouldn’t hurt to check them out. I live in Southern California. Things and real estate are very very expensive and it’s all about greed, must make more money….and more and more. I’m also on social security and can’t afford a hair cut like when I worked. Also 70 and can’t find a job anywhere!!!! It’s a joke living here if you are on social security and old according to employers and etc. I would leave here in a second if I could.

@@candicecassel1110 I've been watching Incredible Tiny Homes videos for several years, thank you for mentioning them. I moved from California to Kansas, now in Missouri, yuck! I'm the same age as you and have had no success in getting even part-time employment. Not that I'm incapable, just because I am older. I would love to be able to purchase one of Randy's incredible tiny homes, however, qualifying for any sort of financing when you're on social security is absolutely impossible. I feel like I'm caught between a rock and hard place. I do wish you the very, very best going forward. It's extremely difficult to move away from California, I know because I loved it so much! Tennessee is very different from California, but there are parts that are nice. I know that Randy has done a Great job with his land and offering the opportunities that he has for those who are wishing a place to live and thrive. I'm not giving up on that option. If I were younger and had more money, I would have made that choice long ago. Thank you again for your comments I really appreciate it!

@@sira451 You are absolutely right. It is about my age. I’m am absolutely certain I was let go of my last job because I had just turned 65 and my manager was a snotty…belittling…b…. I was so happy to leave that place and told the HR manger I knew what they were doing…and agreed. I was in Commercial Real estate for over 20 years and yes…it IS about my age. One person I applied for a lateral position I’d been doing for that time said that since I hadn’t worked in 2+ years I’ve forgotten what I did😮😮😮😮😮 after the shock of what she said wore off I laughed so hard. I’ve also applied for retail, cleaning, receptionist jobs and been passed on. My kids are so hard on me and think I’m giving up. I’ve had enough “no thank you” to last me a lifetime thanks but no thanks. What do you think of Randy’s homes? I’ve actually been purging stuff and cleaning out lately…what a great load off and feeling. How did you move from ca? Didn’t you sell to move where you are? In my mind I’ve been planning how I would make the move to a tiny home..what I would purge and keep. The key to downsizing is being EXTREMELY organized and willing to let go of the past…within reason of course😉
      ?

    • @sira451
      @sira451 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@candicecassel1110 I'm so sorry to hear about your experience with your last job! Like you, I have applied for several different types of jobs. Being interviewed by a 20 something, who is extremely inexperienced, schooling me about jobs that I've performed for many many years is really challenging! What's happening is plain and simple, age discrimination - particularly against women. I have spoken to men who have been employed right around the same time that I was looking for work and they were the same age. They kept telling me there was no age discrimination. Clearly it's different for men. As for Randy's tiny houses, I have found that the larger ones that provide a main floor bedroom are the only models that I would be interested in. Randy's tiny homes are different from others that I've seen, such as Timbercraft tiny homes. I prefer Timbercraft because they have different floor plans that accommodate more storage and closet space. But Randy has the advantage because he owns all the land the tiny houses that he builds are sitting on. The lot rent for Randy's areas is much more affordable than all other places that I've looked at. And I think another advantage is having Randy and his team right there in case something goes wrong with your house. In my mind, I have organized, purged, boxed up and gotten ready to move - - but physically doing it is another story. As for moving away from California, it was a time when my two boys were toddlers. I was also married and job prospects, especially for my husband, were limited and not paying enough to cover the cost of living in California any longer (obviously, this was a long time ago). I found a townhouse for rent in Overland Par,k Kansas, put our house on the market, left it with the real estate agent, packed up the moving van and left. It was because of my children that I was able to make that move. I wanted a place that was a little more calm and family friendly and Overland Park, Kansas was definitely a good choice. But, they are grown and have their own lives and I need to do what is best for me. This is the last chapter of my life and I don't want to live it struggling to pay utility bills and property tax. My home is way too large for me. I have a lot of things that I'll have to sell, give away, etc. Off course, there are many things I would like to keep. It's a challenge to fit everything into a tiny house. I know it can be done because I've seen so many who have accomplished just that. With most decisions, we don't make a change until the pain becomes too great to keep doing what we're doing. I am almost at my breaking point. I hope whatever you decide to do, you won't wait too long to do it. I've made decisions too late and they have cost me dearly. Having said all of this, I will try to get out of my head and physically do those things that I have imagined doing. If you have the physical energy and strength to make a move, I think what Randy has to offer is really great, especially for people like you and me. I'm wishing you the very, very best and hope whatever you decide to do, it will make you happy!

OK, I'm only on number one but I'm already loving this I have to pause the video and comment. I'm still in that scarcity/fear mindset and I REALLY appreciate you explaining how you moved beyond it. And I'm happy to hear that, at least for you, it was as "simple" as stopping and reminding yourself and repeating to yourself that things are possible. I can do that!

I appreciate these 5 rules...very very good. Now that you are an "Van Islander" I need to correct you on your bearings. The Ucluelet and Tofino area is located on the West Coast of Vancouver Island not the South as you stated. And where your Tiny House is located is considered the East Coast of Vancouver Island. The Island is sort of lumped into West Coast, East Coast, South Island (from the Malahat and south) , North Island (Courtenay/Comox and north) and Central Island ( Port Alberni, Parksville/Qualicum, Nanaimo, Ladysmith, Chemainus, Duncan). I am very happy that your move went well and now you can explore the Island and all it's beauty!

This had me very confused too. I looked up Tofino Tourism and it said west coast of Vancouver Island. Whatever it's called....lol, I'm certainly not wanting to be unkind....it is a spectacular area! Loved your five rules too....very similar to mine, but love 'a wish without a plan is just a dream'. I strongly believe this and it has worked for me too.

@@myBIGtinyhouselife I think what you may be hearing from the locals is that you are north of Victoria. North Island is Campbell River and Port Hardy etc. You are in the Duncan/Nanaimo area on the east side of the Island. Perhaps you may have heard the phrases "Up Island" or "Down Island". These may have been interpreted as going north and going south. The Island Highway , on the east side of the island, does travel north and south. I grew up in Victoria and traveled up island all the time. Never once did we call Duncan, Nanaimo, Courtenay the north side of the island. We did call it 'up island' though.

Love Ucluelet!❤️ I like it more than Tofino. Did you get to the aquarium in Ucluelet? It’s amazing. All the the sea water is pumped right from the ocean and all the sea creatures and fish are returned to the ocean and then they bring in new ones. They are all let free at some point. It is the best aquarium I have ever seen. 🤗❤️

Thank you again. I wrote these down so I can look at them and practise them. Some I have already started. I have a plan! Working towards it. Looking at all the bounty I have instead of what I don’t isn’t always easy, but it’s getting easier. Even if others don’t understand it. Thank you, thank you, thank you.❤

A lot to consider and work on. And I agree with you. Especially being kind to each other. Beautiful place you are visiting. Hope Sophie is doing okay back in the tiny house. Unless she’s staying in the van. Blessings to you both always.

in fact, each one does as he can, we never know what others lived and are going thought.. compassion.. love.. all the world needs.. thank you for all you inspire and remind us.. you are such a pure heart, ... we can sense that you have so much experiences and have chosen positivity and courage to have such huge compassionate heart. And humility :) that is beautiful :) and now offering it with the world to inspire and help, thank you So much ☺ you shine so much in this video, the drawings at the end are sweet and resonate with the shiny vibes of this message and smile :) thank you So much for all and wishing you to follow to live the best athletic smiley path you are in :) I am back to wake up the athlete in me too since this Autumn :) I feel a lot more empowered since moving me more. step by step, day by day, concrete steps help to gain confidence that i do it, it depends on doing, starting concrete steps, in fact, step by step, :) 🙏💚⋮🌟

Thank you for the refresher. Sometimes we forget these fundamentals and need a kick in the pants to get back to basics. I'm saving this so I can go back and add it to my journal ... to make sure I revisit frequently :D. I'm doing my van no-build and even that is very challenging ... especially with age & mobility issues. I've been feeling like I'm never going to get done. My body hurts and I need help. So another one to add to the list ... ask for help when you need it. I enjoy you so much. I'm glad you moved to such a beautiful place ... so I can visit those places in the videos until I'm mobile in my van! Thanks so much.

Hi! I definitely agree with you. Asking for help can be hard for me too. I'm the first to offer help but don't want to 'bother' friends by asking. I had someone remind me that by refusing to let them help I was robbing them of the ability to show their love to me. That really stuck with me.

I'm only 5 minutes into the video and I just had to comment how beautiful it is to watch the water crash upon the rocks and your wonderful outlook on life. I think a lot of women have that fear of can I do this, will it work out the way it should etc. Especially after divorce or losing a spouse. I live how you end your videos. With kindness.😍

Oh my heart...thank you so much for sharing your beautiful view and for the 5 rules that you live by Adelina. I am currently working on a few of those rules. I absolutely love the mindset of abundance and possibility as that is a huge challenge for me currently and I think for a lot of other people as well. I am so grateful for your posts. Sending you hugs and stay safe!
