    Great Video ! Sometimes I ramble when put on the spot. I think its important to know that none of her video was planned ahead or scripted. They really brought you raw footage like you would get if you came to our home and asked questions. Michelle, Thank you so much for sharing so much great information and fun videos of raising your dogs with the community 😊

    Wow, I can't actually believe this, I mean I can but... wow, the video LITERALLY starts with the best advice ever. I have an Irish Wolfhound (Male 13months) and I am thinking welcoming another big softy to the family. This lady is LEGIT. My Irish Wolfhound's breeder had the exact same suggestion "Don't get caught up on all that alpha nonsense, every dog values positive reinforcement most." So happy to see the same thing repeated here and not a choke chain.

    A pack of Corsos and a Malinois - she is living the dream! Give me a Corso, a Dutch/Mal, and an Aussie and I'll be happy for life. Those formentino babies are so beautiful, all that loose skin! I want to hug them. Also, BIG kudos to the breeder for educating people about prong collars!!! It is THE best, safest, and fastest working tool for teaching a dog to walk properly on a leash, and it is NOT a tool of pain! Prong collars work through pressure distributed evenly around a dogs neck. A good prong collar is not sharp, and all of the prongs face the same direction so that the pressure is distributed evenly. I used to think that prong collars and e collars were cruel, like many people that are trained in R+. But then I got educated, put the collar on myself to actually see what it felt like, and saw the way that dogs reacted to it and the results that it helped to achieve in training. To say that it is cruel is just false. A prong collar safely puts you in control of your dog right away. Any tool, even a flat buckle collar, can be used improperly and cause harm. Popular alternatives like easy walk harnesses and head halters can harm your dog far easier than a prong collar - a dog can injure it's neck on a halti, and I have seen easy walks rub dogs armpits raw, cause them to lose balance and fall, and have heard many stories of dogs escaping from them and breaking them. They are good for some dogs, but in my opinion, an unnecessary solution to a fabricated problem.

    Motivation I needed to FINALLY contact WW. Have watched them for a while but between being shy and over 20 hours away I’ve really put it off. But honestly, hearing her speak made me put that aside and go for it! Such a loving and knowledgeable breeder.

    I can agree somewhat with WW opening comments. At least the part about forming a relationship with your CC. We are going through this now...we got Nero at 9 weeks. Just about that time, the virus scare started. My wife and I are both essential workers but I am self employed and for the first 4 weeks I spent a lot of time with Nero. I fed, bathed, walked & trained with him. 99.5% of time. I am a dominant person and a natural alpha. My wife works 12 hr days and had very little to do with Nero even on her days off. Despite, knowing and being educated that he needs attention and stimulation along with bonding. So where we are is Nero has issues with jumping up, nipping and being highly energetic with her to a point of annoyance. She is not a dominant person by nature so she has struggled the last 4 weeks with Nero obeying her. He thinks all time with her is play time.
    So I do believe you need to be a strong willed person AND develop a relationship with this breed no doubt. But you need some ALPHA tendencies as well.

    • @Worldwidekennels
      @Worldwidekennels 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The jumping is just lack of training. They shouldn't jump on anyone. I touch on it later in the video how we teach our puppies that sitting is the way to ask for attention. This should happen 100% of the time. Its super easy to teach and doesn't require strong or Alpha just clear communication and consistency. No butt on the floor, no petting. Like I said they cant just be let to do what they want and you will need to make corrections but the corrections need to be fair and clear that you mean what you say. I'll do a video on it eventually 😊

    Thank you Michelle!! This has been so informative and encouraging! I’ve been looking into a cane corsos for a sweet but protective companion while living alone, and I loved hearing you both debunk the idea that you have to be a huge 6 ft man to “handle” a powerful dog breed like this. It’s about the owner’s dedication to their corso’s training & bonding with them more than anything 💕

    The European lines are so beautiful. There is a big difference So many breeders keep trying to breed Corso’s bigger here in America and they don’t know what they are doing and it is sad. They are messing with a dogs genes and frame and if they mess that up they are damaging them not making them better. I had one of each as rescues and oh what a difference. I love my boys. They are super smart. We are rescuers we won’t buy a puppy. There are too many that need rescued and we feel that too many are being abused because of those get them and then don’t want them abandon them it is so sad. Our boys were labeled monsters by their vet and they were far from it. They were just in the wrong home. They ran away and found us. They do require a lot of time love and respect. My boys will take a bullet for me and they know I will take one for them. We have clear communication ❤❤❤

    I literally love this breeder, the fact that she takes the time to make sure the dogs go to a good home. This is exactly how I would do it if I was to breed, it’s just it always crosses my mind what if I let someone take one that really isn’t good and the dog has a traumatic life. I’d like to think there’s more good owners than bad tho 😁

      @MichelleBrasil  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi April! Congratulations on your puppy!!! That’s so exciting to hear. We weren’t aware of the perfect puppy course when we got Dante however, we are using the course for Peach along with things that we’ve learned from Dante’s trainer. Will’s course is specific for puppies and teaches you how to build a good relationship with them from the start. He really does a great job of explaining the reasoning behind training so as long as you stay consistent and practice with your puppy, he’ll grow up to be very well behaved and well mannered!

      She meant ppl who would just leave the dog outside. Cane corsos need a job, yes but they want to feel as they’re part of the pack/family. They are Velcro dogs too. So leaving them outside chained up just for ‘protecting’ property will be bad for the corso

    You mention some people say you must be dominant... I met people who said you must let the CC be dominant...
    let me explain and ask for your opinion:
    some people state their dog's bloodline is bred to not be people friendly and only guard their areas...
    I visited a couple with 6 Cane Corso and their dogs never heard -No, ...
    Their dogs climbed me all over and if you pushed them down or back them down -they growl... I never seen their dogs before so I could not judge if they will turn aggressive if I kept holding them back...
    they said just ignore a cane corso and they leave you when they consider themselves done with you and have smelled you... Other dogs one just say No to if they go too far and that is the end of the story... but these dogs did not accept anything...
    the couple told me they do not use No or anything so to make them independent and strong, so that they can keep them as "natural Cane Corso" they said... They said this is how Cane Corso with a real blood line are like...
    I find this so strange!? What is your opinion of this and No to this type of dog breed compared to Malinois, Doberman and so on!?
    I mean we can see in circuses that they train tigers and lions and they do not just go around being dominant and do what they want just because they are tough animals...
    -why would then a Cane Corso, Kangal or Alabai dog do that because of their blood lines!? please help me understand...
    Would one need a very different approach with those types of breeds compared to Malinois for example that seem to wanna do what ever we ask of them or can all dog breeds "work in a circus" so to speak and do what ever trick you want or accept a No from a human when they go too far!?

      Try using a cedar base shampoo. We also have switched quite a few of our dogs to vets best flea and tick control. It's a topical but all natural using essential oils, no bugs seem to like it. Avon skin so soft works well for flies as well.

      I have two that are Cane x Neapolitan and they drool anytime they are panting from running around and more so whenever they drink or eat food. Other than that I have yet to be hit in the face with it but it does fly when they shake off sometimes. Most of the time it lands on their own face. There's no way around it . That is what they do. I have grown more desensitized to it and it really doesn't bother me at all now. I keep hand towels all over the house because not only do they drool but their eyes run a gooey goo sometimes. IMHO Its a very small price to pay for owning these magnificent creatures. :)

    I really hope this American obsession with cane corso doesn't end up like the staffy problem here in UK. Many were euthonized and they became the token dog for druggies because of their loyalty. Similar to pits in the USA. I expect you will see a huge increase of cane corso in shelter because people don't have time to train properly they just want them because they look mean and think they will scare people off. That's a dangerous reason to get a dog. Yes their are many good owners but the more popular they become I worry for the their longevity to people and their reasons for buying them because they are fashionable just now.

    • @MichelleBrasil
      @MichelleBrasil  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We touched up a little bit on this in the interview. That why it’s important for people to do their research and be informed before making the decision to bring a big and powerful dog like a Corso home. I hope to spread that message across on my channel and show how much effort and training it takes to have a well mannered dog. These dogs can not be left to make their own decisions and need guidance to use their guardian instincts correctly.

      @@MichelleBrasil oh I agree I was just expressing a concern. When dogs become trendy inevitably the breed suffers. Bad breeders bad owners and people getting them for all the wrong reasons and as you say none to little research. The same thing happened to the Tibetan mastiff in China. Their is thousands of these dogs roaming wild because the value hugely dropped and people stopped caring. That's my worry about these dogs that become trendy. I own a rotty x Tibetan mastiff. Not for newbies but so many people comment how lovely she is. It wasn't easy to get her to that. Anyone tries to attack me they be in a world of trouble. But aside from that she is well balanced and lovely. Rarely see cane corso here in Scotland. We don't crop ears or dock tail so I expect the image they have in America doesn't travel here so they not as popular. Anyway please understand I have no intention of criticising you I'm not way inclined. But I do worry for dogs futures when they become trendy. I've seen it with pits staffys Bully's and tibetan mastiffs. Keep doing a service for this breed and I hope my concerns don't become reality. ✌️

    I really hope that the Cane Corso does not become the new it dog or fashion statement because this is not the kind of dog for just anybody and everybody. The Cane Corso is a very serious dog that can become every dangerous in the wrong hands you have to take their training seriously. Jason Cory is the person to watch for beginners when it comes to the Cane Corso. This dog is not meant for people who will not be dedicated to training the dog.
