The cartoon world was a part of Jimmy´s hell loop,because his mother told him to watch cartoons before she left. Who would have thought that we would feel sorry for Jimmy at the end . The cartoon scenes were made by the team who made the Harley Quinn animated series. This last season is a very long good bye to everybody and is character driven. You will understand why Chloe is so addicted to the necklace in short time. +Chloe is bored, she gave up her work for Lucifer and he needs much time to be ready to become god so I don´t blame her that she wanted to follow Lucifer to hell. This season was filmed under covid restriction rules and at the end they run out of money so I am grateful for that what they gave us .
I thought the episode was brilliant, and can't really relate to your feelings on it. The fact that they managed to humanize Jimmy that way, and actually making me feel for him was truly an accomplishment I would have thought almost impossible, yet they managed to make my heart break for the kid that was left by his mom. Seeing Amenadiel shining on his first day in training, and standing by his principles of compassion and being in it to help rather than punish made me so proud of him, and Maze's misguided attempt to help him was adorable and sweet in the way only Maze can be while messing up. Dan trying to warn Lucifer and stopping her plan of hurting her dad was cute as well, and such a Dan thing to do. Linda trying to find fulfillment in her job again by going back through her time with Lucifer and writing about it was kind of sad to see as it shows that she hasn't been able to quite get to the "no good deed is too small, and all good deeds matter - it doesn't have to be celestial end-of-the-world big problems to be worthwhile" outlook on life. Still liked that storyline for her though. The reveal of Lucifer having a daughter was my favorite thing of course! It blew my mind and made me HAVE to watch the next episode to learn more. As for Chloe, sure I was WORRIED about her as she seemed to become addicted to "Amenadiel's rod" to borrow Lucifer's terminology, but it in no way made me dislike Chloe in ANY way. I was hoping Lucifer would notice soon, and that she would be okay, but I didn't blame her for falling victim to being exposed to a piece of divinity for a long period of time as we have seen that that is the effect it has on all humans, nor for acting like the addict she was clearly becoming. I actually thought it was a really great and interesting storyline for Chloe after everything that had went down in season 4 and 5!
While I agree with most of what is said here. I would say this episode was a slow burn compared to the first two. I mean I get it. Helps with the shocking ending and can't have high action moments ever episode.
This episode is great.. And important. Also it's very interesting to see, how Chloe acts during the hell visit.. With a comidian mind just like lucifer does on earth... And he has her spot as the focused one
I liked the animated part of the episode. It was funny seeing Lucifer be frustrated being animated. While it was little short, it was still cool. In 6 seasons i'm glad they could do special episodes like this (also the musical and the what if episodes). They are always fun. Also, i love how the wings of the new angel looks. And love how deadly they are.
The cartoon goes back to the core of Jimmy's true Hell loop. Note that his mother abandoned him to watch cartoons when she left. That's why Jimmy was visualizing his "greater" Hell loop as a cartoon. When they switched back to the "real world" it symbolized getting closer to his true Hell loop, not to mention its resolution. ... Get ready for more weird comedy and a ton of character development. All of the things you see as odd are the foundation of future plot lines. IMO they did a really good job of writing in this last season.
Negasonic Teenage Warhead and or Brianna Hildebrand, and now Rory, we lucked out Dak, we have a actress that you will not believe that will bring so much to this show.
Anyone else bothered by how, in movies and TV, ghosts are always shown to be passing through objects, people, walls... yet can stand on the top floor of a tall building and not end up in the basement?! ;-] (Sorry, forgot to turn off 'science nerd mode'...)
This episode is hilarious but truly deep, loved the whole idea to help lost souls in Hell. Despite Chloe used partner argument against Lucifer, I truly loved her being with him there. She used to find out a lot that didn't know about this side of his life. Cartoon part was great, they did a good job putting it there 😁🤣 Liked how Maze helped Amenadiel to pass his police test, it was so cute 🥰 Also I had the same reaction to the end... and I guess you will be surprised when find out who the mother is 😳
chloe under influence of the rod... but also she is excited by going to a dangerous place. she does help lucifer in the hell loop, and we see how the after life will be like for both of them
Those 3 first episodes maybe are slow and uncaptivating with everyone being almost out of their characters but they are very important and are giving a lot of clues about the ending of the series. Remember that Chloe dies in 5x16 even more so she fights in an angel war and against the main villain of the last season a powerful archangel, Michael, right now she doesn't have any occupation or power, given by her detective status, except for being a consultant/partner to an hesitant and undecided Lucifer; but she does enjoy the super sex with him and the time they spend together so yes it's quite understandable why she is addicted to that energy the divine necklace unleashes upon her. And she is curios about Hell it's normal, I would be too. Even under those circumstances they are really working well together, complement and support each other. Try to keep an open mind about the last season, is nothing like the previous ones, more character driven, personal and intimate, and if you are wondering about things done in a certain way, remember this season was entirely shot under covid restrictions.

So it's said that there are no new stories, just new players, and the cartoon style is one of the standard TV tropes common to many different series. These rarely show up in the early seasons, and are more common once a series has been around a few years as writers are looking to keep the audience entertained but ideas are getting harder to come by. Other common tropes include -The groundhog day episode -The Freaky Friday or body swap episode -The Wizard of Oz / it was all a dream (or was it) episode -The day in the life documentary / "The Office" episode There are surely more I can't name right now, but I'm sure someone will be able to reply with a comprehensive list. The point is, it was kind of inevitable, though I don't think they did a Freaky Friday episode previously.)

It's really the opposite. They wanted to do a cartoon episode for a long time, but they didn't find a good spot for it. In the last episode, they picked this topic up again and did it.. So it wasn't a fast solution for a problem.
