That "Kono ore-sama ga" just to say "I" in the most condescending way is so in-character for Blue

When you use surf, the game actually runs the use item subroutine after setting the item used variable to the ????? item. So the item doesn't emulate the surf ability, the surf ability emulates the item.

My favorite part has to be the E4 part (though Glitch 26 is pretty awesome):
- They were unable to manage people from walking through walls or surfing through statues but they darn well made sure the guards were un-passable. Loving this crazy code, lmao.
- A scrapped surfboard... Somehow I'm not surprised something that seems brand new was actually an old idea with Pokemon. That also explains surfing Pikachu in Yellow, just give ????? to Pikachu!
- 9:54 Not only do you bless us with your amazing Japanese voice acting, but this guy used ore-sama? Like every best character does at least once? Despite only being Champion for all of 5 minutes? 😂 Green, best rival proven. Thank you for this, albeit useless, bit of knowledge. It gave me the biggest grin.

In that "Engrish" bootleg of Green I mentioned in one of your other video comments, the Kabutops Skellington MissingNo is known as "BLOOD". I have no idea what the bootleggers translated to get that, because every other iteration of MissingNo crashes the game. The creepypasta goes deep. Also that genuinely scared me lol

I like to imagine all these glitches are diegetic, and Red is actually meta-aware. So I imagine him just running around terrifying people by breaking the spacetime continuum, Jameson laughing as he goes.
Fun fact: In gen 1 games code, where item data is stored, the 7th item (hex 07 ?????) executes "ItemUseSurfboard" . A master ball or any ball executes "ItemThrowBall" , and a boulder badge (or that diffrent badge ) "ItemThrowBait"

@@ImportedCheese Honestly man, youve got the combo it takes to do well here. Comedic timing is on point and thats a huge part of it. As well, youre doing good with picking your topics for pokemon videos that get views, and thats huge for a growing channel like you. The algorithm will work in your favor for that.

3:34 I am surprised that you did not show the Old Man glitch in this series. I wanted to see what the original Missingno. (not the fossil or ghost ones) and M looked like in Japanese Green. Also, since the characters are different, I wanted to see what the pokemon looked like.

There was one I remember doing long ago, before 2nd gen was released, before the mew glitch in US versions. It was possible to encounter Mew in green quite early using the select glitch. If I recall, it had to do with pressing select a certain number of times on a certain item, switching with a move in battle then running away, then pressing select several more times on another item before another battle encounter which would be Mew.
Of course, I cannot find any information on this now. I'm absolutely certain I had done it, though! That sprite wasn't pretty.
How did you get your hands on a copy of Green back then...?

I tried searching for it again and found something about turning a water pokemon into Mew using the 13th item. Not certain if that's what I'm remembering exactly but it might be. I'd thought it was an encounter but now I'm not sure!

(eg. Cultural differences like the old man being drunk in Japan versus not having his coffee in the international version). That stuff fascinates me.

Love the Persona 5 music in the background. I enjoyed watching the whole playthrough on whattageek's channel.
The moment I saw ????? I knew it was the cut Surf item. Apparently, it was originally planned for HM moves to be items instead, but only surf remains in the code. It's commonly referred to as the surfboard, but it's just speculating because there aren't many objects that it could be. Oddly enough it's also mechanically different from the HM because it isnt disabled in cycling road.
Pikasprey Yellow made a great video on unused content in Pokemon generation one that talks about this. Similarly, he discusses stuff like Pay Day originally being a field move. It's somewhat related to this, and its certainly worth giving a watch if you enjoy this type of content.
I really enjoyed it as always and I almost got worried with the raid shadow legends haha xD

That old man glitch is also in the US releases. As well as a glitch where you can’t get the Pokédex when you evolve your starter before getting the Pokédex.
