Chatter baits have been great for me this year and he’s absolutely right on the white also chartreuse I use white whit a big chartreuse paddle tail and have been having and excellent season
I bought 2 Mepps #4s, a gold and silver and haven’t caught anything on them. I’ve heard multiple people recommend Mepps #5 though. They’re worth it? I’ve caught basically all my pike using spoons or occasionally dead minnows
Beautiful hooks the fire tiger rapala, the len Thompson same as the rapala fire tiger about 2 inch? And i heard the William wobbler, now that one kills pike good my personal favorite is just that the Williams wobbler,. i would suggest you a lizard i seen 11.5,12, and 16+ pounder last year with the lizard, but different colors.. pike love the action of the lizard spoon
In my tackle box, I snagged all my spoons. I am going on a fishing trip this week to Muskoka, Ontario and want to target pike. Can I use a spinnerbait with a green skirt. Especially with the deep vegetation on the lake
@@averageontarioanglers so on your opinion, a spinnetbait meant for bass as the Green skirt would attract northern pike. Also, do I need a steel wire leader or is the metal wiring of the spinnerbait suffice?
It’s funny I watched a video where they asked a rapala employee how it was pronounced and he said it’s actually pronounced the way I said it - definitely worth a search 🔍
Question for anyone who can answer, do you prefer Mepps Spinners or Dardevle Spoons for pike? Also, do you prefer dressed or plain Mepps spinners? And for dardevles do you prefer the klicker version or the original? I’m trying to get guidance for pike fishing
I caught my PB pike in St. Claire River on the Canadian side. I think it was on a silver/black backed lipless. Heard a story from an older gentlemen out there that said he watched a Muskie take a beaver on the surface.
Wondering if there is a specific reason to use spinning gear for a jerk bait when Pike fishing? Is it just you prioritizing your gear to your preference, or a performance reason.
What rod do you use to set the hook with chatterbaits? I also use Heavy cover jigs but missed 2 very big pikes on the hookset with a medium heavy 8foot 1/4-1oz rod fast rod but i think i at least need a heavy rod or extra heavy rod to set the single hook.
@@averageontarioanglers You think my rod is powerfull enough to set the hook on pike with a heavy wire EWG hook or heavy wire jig with skirt? Or should i also buy a heavy rod and or extra heavy rod to increase hookups? I am scared to use my medium heavy 8foot rod to set the hook with heavy cover jigs after what happend. I don't want to miss a third meter plus pike on a jig haha
I catch them on an 8” musky crankbait/jerkbait even if they’re not that big so I’d say use bigger stuff so that you don’t get stuck just catching bass
Pikee Spinners are my go to for pike. Either white with silver blades or white with white blades.
Pike definitely love white that’s for sure
What do you think of daredevil spoons? I’ve always been told that they are the best.
They definitely have a great reputation. I haven’t tried them myself, I prefer to buy things made in Canada if possible like LenThompson spoons.
@@averageontarioanglers Johnson Silver Minnow has left the chat.
they excel out west (Alberta, Sask) but not so much in Ontario for whatever reason.
Daredevil are my go to I have caught hundreds of pike off of them
Williams Wablers destroy pike!

Thank you for that man, I always try to tell people that CHATTERBAIT is the way to go for bass and pike and omg white is literally the best
Great video, all great choices . I like to use the classic len Thompson 5 of diamonds .. its a pike and walleye magnet Here in Northern alberta.
Hard to beat that pattern! Love it!
Ah yes, the classic spoon. It’ll catch just about anything
Mepps #5, 5 of ♦️ and Red Devil! Don’t forget about the tried and true.

We’ll try our best 👌

Spinners work really well also.
Caught my first pike trying out a white chatterbait i just bought. Good tips
White AND SILVER.
Pike love visible.. my dad caught a pike with a kit kat wrapper
I like the big mepps Cyclops Orange
Great spoons!

I always use a wire leader. Just in case
Spoons all day for jack
spinnerbait is good too
I went pike fishing yesterday at sun set. Oh and I was catching them, caught about 30 in about 1 hour. Fishing was good
What lure did u use?
@@Cpk1050 oh, I was using some Mimic-minnows and a five of diamonds spoon. Good luck!

@@Cpk1050 Canadian tire, or Walmart, your choice. Or your nearest fishing store

Accidentally caught one on a kvd squarebill 2.5
In my oppinion far to small. I caught 16" pike on 8" lures, cause they defend there areas
Red devil spoons can't be beat
Red devil
The way he says rapala 😂

Helps when casting smaller jerkbaits on windy days which are common for me in the spring
Topwater buddy...
Truth be told pike eat just about anything.
Depends. Big, pressured pike in gin clear Lake Ontario bays can be very picky
I caught one on a Yamamoto senko worm last summer while I was bass fishing, I couldn't believe it
Good video. What color spoons do you find best during summer months??
I’ve always been a huge fan of the firetiger/silver back and the classic 5 of diamonds
Would a green chatterbait work as well
It could for sure, we prefer bright or dark colours but like don’t seem to be too picky
Yeah but can i use a frog like u now the hardbait bass frog?
They will catch pike but not the best lure and also you can’t use a leader with them cause it’ll ruin the action
They hate topwater rat wakebaits as well
Where did you buy the white chatterbait?
My local tackle store Gagnon Sports
Meanwhile in sweden "Big Bait go BRRRRR"

How big are the pikes you catch either these lures I live in Germany and my smallest Pike lure is 30cm that is 11,811 inches
Not huge in these small lakes. Usually 2-5 pounds
Ok thanks
what spinning reel do u recommend
Buy the best Shimano or Daiwa you can afford
What’s the setup?
7’ MH evergreen combat stick glass with a Daiwa Tatula CT 6.3:1
Would anyone suggest a white skirt, and a chartreuse green trailer? I’ve had a lot of success on a black and green meps but I’m newer to pike.
