I work in hospital healthcare. I am also into HO scale model Railroading. I hear "Code 100" or the other track codes and immediately try to figure out which hospital code that is! Haha! I'm drinking Folgers Half-Caf with 2 sugars and 1% milk. Love your videos, Jim!

As long as nobody calls code blue on their railroad, my blood pressure will stay level

Good Q&A! A more proper N scale code is 40. 55 is heavy rail of course proper does not necessarily mean visible with the naked eye! LOL!

Thanks for the mention Jimmy! Trust me, you're not alone in pronouncing my YT name that way lol! It's supposed to sound like caboose but instead it has bass in it referring to bass in music, kinda silly but yeah! 😂

I think defining code as "thou" or "thousands of an inch" is helpful, because those are also the units used to measure thicknesses of styrene card and rod/tubes. So it kind of introduces people to scratch building. Great video though! I had a Nespresso Ethiopian this morning with frothed milk and definitely no sugar, pretty nice.

Just remember all your printers resin fdm whatever they all give off not very nice VOCs, heavy metals and other things that are just great for your health.
Never use any of them without proper ventilation or air filtration around them. Many modelling channels will pump up FDM as safe because it doesn't make "fumes" this is however not backed up by research which shows neither is safe to just stick on you work bench or in the corner of your modelling space and be next to while it prints. Keep yourself safe and just don't print if you can't swap the air in your room regularly or filter it through an appropriate system.

the Code of rail is code 100, code 83, code 70, code 55 and code 40. I use code 40 on my stuff as It represents 60lb rail that was used for branchlines and mostly was still the standard rail in the 1890s. code 55 represents 75lb rail where as code 70 is 100lb rail. and last but not least the code 83 represents modern 132lb rail for mainline service...

I run a lot of vintage HO stuff from the 60's to 80's and use code 100 as some of the older locomotives have pizza cutter flanges that can hit the ties on code 83. Newer stuff doesn't have that same issue and work well on code 83.

I have a question...DCC++EX is where you can use an Arduino as your DCC Controller, so was DCC++ an older version of DCC++EX? Can DCC++EX still be connected to JMRI on a raspberry pi? Is there a difference between DCC++EX and DCC-EX? Also, I believe the Arduino would only be supplying the tracks with 5 volts of power. Is there a cheap way to amplify the 5 volts to 12 or 15 volts...or is there a cheap DCC booster? Decaf(brand) coffee with 1 sugar is one of my favorites. Thanks a lot for making these videos :)

Got some Maxwell House now, but get to have it every morning with my fiancé! Have you done any 3D printing of cars and trucks (the kind for roads) At least on the HO side seems to that most available commercially are older (40's 50's and 60's) Would love to have some more modern vehicles for the layout here.

Either one works for detail printing, just with the bigger 3D printing, you can mass produce things which is cool if you're making couplers. Code 100 is best for model railroading especially for running in locomotives, most Nickel-Silver(Aluminum) track is Code 50 or Code 75 which is the absolute worst for running model railroading (it's like beating your locomotive like it stole something) because both Code 50 and Code 75 are absolute junk with Code 83 not being all that great either and is the most common steel track grade.

I'm thinking about getting a 3D printer. There are so many things that I woiuld love to have that I can't seem to get...and then I look around Shapeways and find things. Detail parts for N scale are one. I also build model cars and would love to print custom wheels.

For a good example of different codes in HO scale, check out Boomer Diorama's video where he shows how to connect different codes of track in HO scale. This technique will also work in other scales. Here is the link to his video: th-cam.com/video/rEeA6KCcko8/w-d-xo.html
