- A jury recommended Wade Wilson be sentenced to death for murdering Kristine Melton and Diane Ruiz. Wilson appeared calm and emotionless when the sentencing verdict was read. Wilson will be formally sentenced by a Lee County judge on July 23.

Wade Wilson was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder after he killed 35-year-old Kristine Melton and 43-year-old Diane Ruiz in October 2019. Wilson met Melton at a Fort Myers, Florida bar and later choked her to death when they went back to her Cape Coral home. Wilson later stole Melton's car and then killed Ruiz while she was walking to work. Her body was found in a field less than a week later.

I'll never forget this POS. I encountered him at The Buddha, a bar I used to play at with my old band. He was trying to chat up my friend, and kept giving me dirty looks like I was blocking him. But her and I have known each other for years. His full turtle neck of tattoos and shifty eyes creeped me out, but he finally got the drift that I was her friend and wasn't going anywhere, and eventually walked away. Weeks later there was news that a local woman went missing in Cape Coral, not far from my home. So I took my Great Dane and drone and helped with the search. We didn't find anything. She was located the next day. Ms. Ruiz. Then when they made an arrest, and the news showed his face, I was stunned to see it was that guy from The Buddha. I literally jumped up and pointed at the TV. It just made me realize there are monsters amongst us.

Solitary confinement on Death Row will be a reality check for this guy. He might act all tough and stoic while he has an audience, but when he's in his small concrete cell knowing that he is facing years before being executed, it will hit home. Time and isolation will slowly chip away at him.

Death row is literally solitary confinement. He obviously likes to be looked at and feared by others. To be locked up alone will be a rough ride for this guy. I agree with the jurors.

An appeal process is started automatically if the inmate doesn't waive it. A while ago someone in Texas got the DP and did just that resulting in the quickest execution in modern times.

In the trial his childhood and family life were discussed. Also, there were issues with him before he did what did and the school/ government did nothing to help in terms of mental health or learning disabilities, or not enough. So a juror convinced two other jurors that Cruz's mental health issues precluded him from getting the death penalty. That was my take on it. I'm fine with this reasoning because I'm opposed to the death penalty, full stop.
Dont shoot me but its a shame he had all of those accidents and now suffers from head traumas because he is extremely goodlooking. He shouldnt be in jail..he should have found an equal woman and formed a family with. This shouldnt have happened.

@@Neria-Eluthere’s appeals and stuff if you get the death penalty it takes forever if it isn’t overturned to life without parole. I’m in Ohio and a guy here was executed 20yrs later and i remember thinking that was pretty quick.
I believe a death sentence should be given plenty of time before being carried out, just in case some new evidence surfaces, and for appeals, etc ... 5 years seems long enough to me, but the 20, 30, 40 years that is typical is simply egregious.

The verdict usually gets read either by the foreperson or the court clerk. I believe it was the clerk in this case - it's a record-keeping and administration job. They don't get hired for their speaking ability.
