Doug Flutie is my all time favorite football player. He was an incredible Quarterback in Boston College, and a Superstar in the Canadian Football League. As a Toronto Argonauts fan, having Doug as our QB was a dream come true. 1996 and 97 were my favorite years ever as a football fan. I was there at the Skydome for almost every Argo's home game, and it was electric. The Argo's were a great team obviously, but Flutie was the main reason we won back to back Grey Cups in '96 and '97. Doug had a rocket for an arm, and he was a winner everywhere he played. The NFL always seemed to think that Doug was too small, but when he went back to play in the NFL for 8 years age 35, he still dominated. The Buffalo Bills were idiots not to start him in every game. Up here in Canada, we knew better.
You know if the rest of the team had been just a little bit better, he might have won those championships while he was still in BC. to this day the best QB receiver combo I have ever seen is the Flutie brothers.
Little known fact: Doug Flutie has the highest starting QB win percentage (0.700) in the history of the Buffalo Bills (even higher than Jim Kelly) and got benched for a guy who ended up with a 0.444 winning percentage (Rob Johnson).
The Argos during the Fluite era had the best helmet logo of all time--the warrior Argo holding the shield was inspired---and then as usual, the organization take a great thing and screws it up--they replace it with a stupid "A" shield--no imagination at all---believe it was to go back to "tradition"--well it's stupid and what's wrong with what it was before???
Russell Wilson, Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray...Doug Flutie was the first for guys "Too Short" to play QB and the idiot Buffalo Bills benched him for Rob Johnson- I think that was his name

My favorite CFL player of time
Great player
Fantastic in college and superb CFL quarterback
I first got Argos season tickets in 96 because of him. 96-97 were some special teams!! If only Toronto realized and appreciated it more...

I used to love CBC's CFL theme music back in the late 80s and early 90s

CFL's own G.O.A.T
Not Warren Moon with 5 Grey Cups?
C'mon Moon is by far the GOAT of CFL and fantastically amazing with the Oilers . CFL should bring back the Anchorage Oilers.
He’ll yea da 🐐
Greatest Argo of all time!
Legend
That's the Doug Flutie I remember.
The perfect CFL quarterback!
He looks so young. The Goat @ 5-7.5 150 Pounds.
Gretzky in cleats!!!

Well those are two people who have no business being compared to each other...
