What are the main difference between the Norbentine Rite and the Tridentine rite, aside the preface with subdeacon being veiled then, and positions during introit , what else?
The "Norbertine Rite" or rather, the Premonstratensian Rite, has many features of medieval Catholic liturgy, that has survived the liturgical reforms of Pius V. The Premonstratensians have sought, through a series of centuries of injunctions by General Chapters of the Order, to preserve many of our ceremonial differences from that of the Roman, Pian editions. Examples can include, of course, the invoking of Sts. Augustine and Norbert in the Confiteor The kissing of the chasuble by the deacon at the "Dominus Vobiscum" following the Gloria The genuflection NOT ending at "et homo factus est" but rather after "et sepultus est" The use of the almuce (the white fur cloth which the deacon puts on his left arm at certain points), which is interestingly done here, since the practice is extraordinarily rare The Kyrie said at the center of the altar, with the Deacon at his right and subdeacon on the left, kind of like what is done during the Gloria normally The extension of hands at the Unde et memores, following the consecration Although I have not listed everything, I will send you a good source to learn from: web.archive.org/web/20080918102520/www.premontre.org/Publica/Apostolates%20Page/Apost-Liturgy001a.htm#R_RITESOFMASS It has all the information you need.
Am I reading the description correctly in that there has NEVER been a pre-conciliar nuptial Norbitine Mass in the US? Were the Norbitines just not present in the United States?
@@TheMrJoltz im sorry for any confusion. What I mean by the description is the Music composed for this Mass has never been performed in its entirety here in the US. Thank you for pointing that out. I will clarify it right now.
@@CopperheadAirsoft no kiss inside the house of God. When we made our way out the doors, I gave my wife her First Blessing and then a big smooch followed after. The Marriage was official long before Mass started.
@@Salve_Regina8 Yes I know it, but that refers to after marriage. In that case why do churches have couples kiss if it's not needed? And how is a marriage official before the mass? Doesn't the priest seal the couple through the liturgy?
@@CopperheadAirsoft couples who kiss before exiting Church do it for an unknown reason to me. We chose not to do it inside the house of God for multiple reasons. We chose to do it outside. Out of reverence for the Lord and to not have people clapping inside the house of God. That was our personal choice. The marriage is official before the Mass because the Marriage Rite ceremony takes place before Mass starts. The vows are exchanged and the Priest joins us together in Holy Matrimony in the name of the Father etc.. then after the Marriage Rite, then the Mass begins. Mass is not necessary either.. but that’s another point. Now.. in the modern Novus Ordo.. it’s different. Im not going to pretend like I know. Because I don’t, and frankly I don’t care.
