And absolutely great to see the smaller size outfits working hard to survive and support their family's.. now all that is left is to get everybody to contact their congress man or woman, and keep the nice pumkin logs here and not overseas. And if the overseas buyer wants wood, it should be milled here to what they want, and make it so when I go to the lumber yard I can find a decent piece of lumber , not the heart cut scant pieces that they sell as number 1 select
Hard core work ! Skidding far, steep terrain, mud...how can You not love it ? 🤣 Similar logging setup as the European one. Good video. Thanx for sharing !
Gday from Oz, awesome videos of a small family owned logging operation, we had 2 Case 450B traxcavators both fitted with 20000lb gearmatic winches and log forks with grabs for plantation pine and the work those little tractors did in harsh conditions was nothing short of amazing, love the videos and keep them coming 👍👍
I had a 450c, we took the arch and rollers off an old 440 parts skidder and mounted it so you could get the lift on a drag just like a skidder. Worked great.

@@Bushguyrocks we buy our timber on an open market from the state/fed. You are basically allotted timber and the stumpage price is determined after the lumber is cut. Big difference.

Nice turn of logs, but not sure if is a steep climb out ot there, but sure seems like he could of got another gear as it was pulling that turn fairly easy and with a gear up change so he isn't standing on that goviner
just curious how far you skidded that turn? good hat why not rock the road bring the trucks in insterad of wasting all that time skidding in first gear
i would be temted with a little more work to put a truck up those skid roads ben on some like it land wood farther up had sust be niceo much equipment must be nice
Thats a crazy long drag. How DO you guys make any money? No wonder you complain about Canadian lumber. We are way more efficient with our machines and hauls. Be more than glad to help our friends across the get up to speed.
Folks, thanks for taking the time to show a nice tree felling and all the prep it took to land it where you wanted. Safely.
Well done.
Thanks bud. I appreciate it

Yeah that’s true. A few years ago they stopped shipping the red oak we have around here to China. Not sure if they ever started back

Those must be very high value logs because nobody could make any money at that rate in the softwood forests of BC.
Great videos!
Even with your government subsidies?

Alot of hard work for the smaller loggers..were probably a dying breed..nice to c small guys still going..logging gets in your blood..
I’m just getting warmed up! Hopefully I can have a long career doing this
Hopefully the wood market is better in Ky than it is here in northern Vermont !
It’s doing alright down here. Nothing extraordinary. Hope it picks up for you fellers!
I’d love to go back east and work for a bit! Looks interesting! West coast tactics in the east…..what do ya say? Hahahaha
The best saws are from Madsen logging supply, and get a new one power tuned
Nothing like hearing a still saw power tuned screaming.
I’ll have to check them outb
Dozer sure could use a winch tower. Nice work.

Maybe he gets paid by the hour.

Yep. All this goes to a sawmill
Are you related to the hoskins in ny

Not sure how far it was. As soon as I got through that first spot it’s all down hill with it. Rollin coal.
I bet their mbf per acre is generally low so cheaper to skid longer distances
Got er did...I been 2 days on a 40” beech that bout went through a house...I’d say I’ve cut over a tandem load of firewood
Dang... sounds like a bad day. That’s a lot of firewood!
Must make sure none of my bushman see that tree felled lol
I would find out what that noise was!!!!! could be something expensive?? Plus it would drive me NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great video, where are you guys located?

Eastern ky? I'm in bristol Va
Yeah.
Super
hard to listen to that motor, just stop before it gets more expensive to fix.
Why dont you guys use grapples instead of choking
We’ve always been used to line skidding. This machine didn’t have a grapple on it when we bought it.

Yeah it was long. I don’t think I ever complained about the great white north. I think y’all’s sat up is cool up there. Yarders are cool
