C'était le 8 septembre 2015 au Grand Rex, Paris, France. extrait de l'album "Carrie & Lowell" plus d'infos : asthmatickitty.... sufjan.com/ / asthmatickitty / asthmatickitty
Hearing the song after my father passed in 2020 really changed my perspective on it. It’s a sad song, but at the end when he’s repeating we’re all gonna die, for some reason it brought me comfort. Knowing that my loss isn’t something I’m alone in, everyone feels that at some point, and there is a comfort in knowing everyone will experience that loss, and be the subject of that loss to others as well. Beautiful song Sufjan
The evil it spread like a fever ahead It was night when you died, my firefly What could I have said to raise you from the dead? Oh could I be the sky on the Fourth of July? "Well you do enough talk My little hawk, why do you cry? Tell me what did you learn from the Tillamook burn? Or the Fourth of July? We're all gonna die" Sitting at the bed with the halo at your head Was it all a disguise, like Junior High Where everything was fiction, future, and prediction Now, where am I? My fading supply "Did you get enough love, my little dove Why do you cry? And I'm sorry I left, but it was for the best Though it never felt right My little Versailles" The hospital asked should the body be cast Before I say goodbye, my star in the sky Such a funny thought to wrap you up in cloth Do you find it all right, my dragonfly? "Shall we look at the moon, my little loon Why do you cry? Make the most of your life, while it is rife While it is light Well you do enough talk My little hawk, why do you cry? Tell me what did you learn from the Tillamook burn? Or the Fourth of July? We're all gonna die" We're all gonna die We're all gonna die We're all gonna die We're all gonna die We're all gonna die We're all gonna die We're all gonna die
This song is my favorite off this album. Breaks my heart. It sounds like lullaby a mother would sing to her child, but in reality, it's the opposite.
I think it's both actually, it's a dialogue between him and his mother
@@Arend_Delabie spot on
My sexuality is Sufjan's bicep as he plays piano
up top o/
I know it's not very poetic, but I can only agree by saying FUCK YEAH.
lol He did look distractingly hot from this angle.
Those triceps tho
I could not sing this without bursting in tears...

His face at 4 minutes is heartbreaking
When he just repeats we’re all going to die on a loop at the end....
I consider Sufjan and Jamie Mc Dermott the most outstanding male singers/songwriters of today
..and STEVE WILSON.... and FATHER JOHN MISTY.... and SAM BEAM... and RICHARD THOMPSON.... and PETER HAMMILL... Shit there are lots of them.
