The fact that she starts with 'I got you girl' like this some kind of sisterly solidarity and she's answering a call for help when she's literally picking on random strangers and calling them ugly
This shit is why people come to Sephora needing a therapy session. I get clients who walk in with kind eyes, warm laughs, and all sorts of great features begging to be "fixed", claiming up and down that there are a million things wrong with them. Makeup should be FUN. Its there to make you feel GOOD about what you have. Its an art, not a requirement.
I like to do more artistic makeups rather than "normal ones" and people seem to think I just wanna cover my full face out of insecurity? I love looking straight up from a horror movie, weird lines, flashy colors, ITS FUN AND LOOKS FUN. Dont know why everyone is afraid of being different or trying new things for their own...Oh yeah, because of people like the glowupgal. 💀 Btw you are doing an amazing job ❤
Thanks for that.. sometimes I get insecure about my features and I wanna start wearing makeup but I don’t actually like having stuff on my face like that besides it won’t solve my issues… thank you for reminding me that I don’t have to do it
@@ville__ what the fuck does that have to do with this conversation? Are you picking and choosing who to reply to or are you being obnoxious and replying to everyone. Ffs mind your own. Edit: LMAO ur being obnoxious and commenting under everyone. Touch some grass.
Faking that random strangers asked you for “brutal honesty” so you have an excuse to insult them at length in front of a huge audience is evil. I’m not even super invested in my appearance, but if that happened to me I’d be devastated
She been talking to my deceased Great Grandmother 😅 she was always telling me I needed to comb my hair cause it's messy. No Great Nana it's just curly 🥲
She been talking to my deceased Great Grandmother 😅 she was always telling me I needed to comb my hair cause it's messy. No Great Nana it's just curly 🥲
And then you've got someone like me who's had the same face since I was sixteen, and now I'm twenty four. Honestly, looking at my mum, I'll probably have the same face for most of my life, and that just goes to show no two people are the same. Genetics play a huge part in what your face looks like, which is why the idea of a "universal beauty standard" is so harmful
Honestly the only changes my face has had since I was 4 is basically it got bigger and I got eczema and allergy shiners. I'm more or less exactly the same. People are always like 'nooo' but then I show them a picture of me with my nan at the age of 5 and then they're like 'oh yeah actually you are basically exactly the same wtf are you a vampire'. I am very pale, get terribly burned by the sun, need to be explicitly invited to places and putting a stake through my heart will kill me so obviously the answer is yes lol.
Yeah, I used to have really chubby cheeks now my cheek bones are more defined, I also used to have a very feminine face now it's more androgynous because of my jaw line. It's so odd how human bodies work, that's why I am gonna wait until I'm 25 to make any decisions on surgeries in case my face does change more and I'm more happy with it.
This behaviour is so fucking harmful. Like a mean girl in school giving you passive agressive "feedback ". Picking "flaws" in other people just highlights her own insecurities.
I believe people who feel entitled to call other people "ugly" are extremely insecure about their own appearance. A truly confident person doesn't target people over these things.
The fact that she just so calmly says "get acutane" and "get braces" makes it so evident she comes from money and has everything just given to her like its nothing
Also Accutane can really fuck you up. It's hormone therapy that can make you enervated, depressed or experience suicidal thoughts, and it's supposed to be for people who have extremely intense acne that is painful and can't be reduced with other treatments. You have to take it for about a year, and get monthly blood work done. I know, I took it and needed it. It's not something to just recommend to anyone with any amount of acne.
As a person who has dealt with acne for about 10 years, my favorite part of having it is recieving unsolicited advice from people whose definition of a "bad breakout" is what my skin looks like at its clearest. If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me whether or not I washed my face or told me to drink more water, I'd be able to afford acutane.
I appreciate you sharing your honest experience with cystic acne. Too frequently, people feel like they're being helpful when they volunteer unsolicited advice to "fix" another person's health issues. I believe they do this to sooth any uneasiness they feel in these situations. My sister, at age 12, had to undergo pregnancy tests every month at her dermatologist appointments when she was prescribed Acutaine. It was a safety measure, but disturbing all the same.
absolutely and same here, have had cystic acne for around 7 years. and how people have always said the same thing - like girl YES i have tried the most basic things.. and it’s so beyond frustrating for people to think acne is ugly even though my face would be the same structure would be the same with or without it.. like i understand ya fr 😢
YES HOLY SHIT not to mention the bonkers side effects of accutane?? Like I was able to go on it but it’s still absolutely brutal to just have normal skin
I always think Shel Silverstein put it best wayyyy back when. He had a poem for kids about beauty, and it really was always right. You can have buck teeth, a wonky nose, frizzy hair, and as long as there's happy thoughts and a kindness in you, it shines out and makes you pretty no matter what the outside looks like. You can't get a rhinoplasty for your soul. Can you? That sounds dope as hell.
"Get contacts instead!!!" What, and waste a stupid amount of money having to get lens refills and contact solution every month when one pair of glasses can last me two years or more if my vision doesn't change? And congrats to people who feel comfortable putting stuff directly onto their eyeballs but it couldn't be me, I don't even wear eyeliner bc I can't get that close without freaking out 😭
@@adelaide8037 Not just that, but some prescriptions aren't even available in contact form. Telling someone they don't need their glasses is pure unadulterated ignorance.
As someone who is struggling w severe hair loss, that advice to just grow it out literally changed my life. I can’t believe I didn’t think about that before!!!
its crazy how she changes curly hair to straight hair then straight hair to wavy hair it just shows that she's never really happy with the end result its just how different they look that matters to her
""""Brutal honesty"""" is the biggest red flag in any human being. 100% of people who take pride in that are more focused on the brutality than the honesty, it's not "dishonest" to shut your mouth when nobody asks for your opinion. It's always an admission that they lack a filter and don't care about how their words affect people.
I'm so glad to see someone say this omg, people would just be super mean and disrespectful but somehow it's okay because "they're just honest", like you can just mind your business if you dont have smth good to say
It reminds me of that clip of a woman being a total dick and she says to a man "People just can't handle my honesty" and he replied in the calmest, mature manner I've ever seen and says " Funny how people think that giving unwanted opinions or advice is honesty, and without kindness makes it more cruel" or something like that I don't know what movie/show it's from but that lives in my brain and I ALWAYS think before I open my mouth about someone's appearance or choices. It's says more about you when you can't shut your pie hole to put people down. That shit ain't cute or fiery or sassy. That's a problem.
@@kellygreen7236It's funny how "brutal honesty" is never positive or kind. If they were really "just being honest" then they'd have to say something nice eventually, but it's all cruelty. *Brutality is the whole point.*
I see brutal honesty being kind when its used as tough love to people in denial... but you rarely see that irl because you see way more of social medias unsolicited advice from strangers than you ever see of interventions etc. Because I dont think the average person has many if any people in their life that need a intervention and when they do people generally have empathy and dont broadcast their loved ones shame to the world.
The fact that the person behind the account is FAKING these captions. None of the people even ASKED for brutal honesty! Disgusting. OH AND FORGOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT MOST OF THE PEOPLE SHE DOES THIS TO DONT EVEN SPEAK ENGLISH AS THEIR FIRST LANGUAGE! SO EVEN IF THEY SAW THE VIDEOS THEY MAY NOT UNDERSTAND THEM!!!! HOW FUN
@@ville__I had me inefficient human heart replaced a few years ago. I went with a Little Giant™ pond and water feature pump. My blood now runs at 215 psi!!
@@gabriellaberman It's also like, a very specific kind of eurocentric features, because I guarantee that south europeans do not look like that. She just loves the nordics and the anglosaxons' standards and pushes that crap on everyone, it reminds me of another person that had her same tastes......
These type girls have been fed lies their whole lives, that being blonde and blue eyes is the IDEAL, for every single person. I'm sorry but there's people who have those features, and still aren't conventionally attractive. 😂 They started to get hit w reality via Kim Kardashian and the Instagram model wave, and suddenly these same girls are now black fishing to look anything but blonde 😂 it's super surreal.
I've heard about the glowup gal before. She picks people who did not ask for help in the slightest, she put the text there and she also tends to target people who don't speak English.
Yep, these people never even asked for this so called glow up crap. She just literally takes photos of strangers off of whatever app and just uses them for her photoshopped bs.
My jaw dropped at the reveal that these people never requested that. I was confused as to why they would, but knowing that they didn't makes it 10000x worse
The chicken-fingering dude calling Chadchad, a literal 10/10, ugly, is so damn funny. my dude, you could just admit that you don't have a single argument against her. it would be less embarrassing.
The fact she calls adding volume to curly hair “growing it out” makes me cringe so hard. That’s not how curly hair works. She’s clearly blonde as well bc she makes everyone blonde!
It was so weird when she made them blonde. It didn't look right at all. Also, with curly hair, it is often twice as long as it appears. How it hangs depends on your curl pattern. Seeing her give the one girl a completely different curl pattern is truly upsetting and awful. It's giving texturism.
When i worked in retail I hated when people would ask me “would YOU wear this.” It doesn’t matter what I would wear. My style might not be your style. My insecurities and my appearance isnt the same as yours. I would only try to meet whatever their specific needs were and make it fashionable. You want to be modest? Cover your tummy? Want bright colors? Have a short torso? Need something professional? Want to look sexy and classy? OKAY! I’m just here to find what you need and make sure it’s styled to fit those needs! But this girl really said you should look how I want you to look. And it’s their literal genetics😭
The way I literally gasped when she said to “make your nose smaller”. I should probably have lowered my expectations but speaking as someone who’s family has very prominent Jewish noses that I’ve always found beautiful, it’s still sometimes a shock how blatantly racist people can be under the guise of “beauty tips”
As a black woman, I've side eyedthe fuck out of contouring since it became a popular concept for this very reason. I have a short nose bridge and a pretty flat nose with large nostrils, very much not a European beauty standard nose. And I've noticed that a lot of these glow up contouring things will attack the shit out of anyone's nose, but especially women of color that do not have the long and sharp nose profile. And I'm not going to lie, it's made me self-conscious at times even though my nose looks fine with the rest of my face and functions as a nose should. And I'm 30 fucking years old lmao.
@@fricketyfracktraintrack for real! I’m lucky because I grew up around enough people with big noses to have it hammered into my skull that they do look nice and beauty trends are full of shit, but I know a lot of people who’ve been taught basically to be insecure about their facial features since they were children. It’s really so upsetting to me, I have multiple friends who’ve told me about how they used to photoshop their noses in pictures to be smaller. I didn’t grow up with television so I think my first exposure to the idea that a lot of people saw hooked and large noses as ugly was through the Harry Potter books, I remember finding jk Rowlings descriptions of villain characters so needlessly cruel even when I was like nine or ten, it actually shocked me a little lol. Like that woman went to every length to emphasise that her evil characters all had “ugly hooked noses”, it for sure did a number on so many kids and it makes me really sad. Not to mention the crazy fatphobia in those books
Yeah, they kinda just bake these things into your head over the years. I got a large nose and got surgery when I was fifteen to make it so it wasn’t hooked. 27 and now I’m just hating how big it is in general, but you gotta remind yourself it’s all Eurocentric beauty standards and my being able to breathe through my nose is more important than having a small one lol
I have a pretty prominent nose too, and being brown I grew up around lots of people who had beautiful, big, round, all shapes and sizes-noses. I grew so insecure of my nose because even my mother would like squeeze my nose from time to time when I was a kid and say keep doing it it'll get smaller eventually. That shit fucked me up for years. I would beat at my nose bridge to try and get it less bent. Until in 9th grade I realized so many people around me had similar insecurities too. I draw, so I spent a chunk of my time back then drawing the noses of people who said they were insecure of them and showing them how they all are in the grand scheme of things when placed next to each other. I grew an appreciation for my own nose back then too :) BONUS- The only fictional character to ever have a nose like mine is Megamind, and that's a win in my books folks >:)
maybe this crap is why a quarter of my university campus look like the same damn person - long blond/highlighted hair, makeup, generic outfits, Stanley cup...
My brother can't take a ton of medication (including most acne meds, which he's recently been prescribed cause he has pretty gnarly breakout) because he has a kidney disease. I'm confident this girl isn't very old herself, cause I mean... c'mon. But simply saying "take medication" is sorta invalidating and not as helpful as this chick thinks it is
i hope this glow up girl isn’t a grown woman because not only does she sound like a teenager but if she’s young that gives her some time to realize how cruel and kinda racist she’s being
Potentially unpopular opinion: Suggesting so many of these girls get blonde hair is ludicrous because if you're not naturally blonde, that color can not only jack up the texture of your hair and make your hair look thinner, but it often makes women look way older than they are. In one of the clips of her "improvements" the girl had healthy-looking hair and whatever app she used literally gave her damaged-looking highlighted hair. Lol.
The fact that so many of their suggestions are for these girls to be blonde seems a bit... sketchy to me. Why does everyone need to have a hair color that's only naturally occurring in white people?
Actually bleach makes the scales of the hair come out and gives it a more voluminous appearance. It's one of the benefits of highlighting/bleaching thin hair. Agreed that the wrong shade of blonde makes you look older, especially that fake one dimensional yellow blond. Ew.
Exactly!! Glowupsgal wants us all to have blonde hair. Just blonde nothing else. I have short hair, dyed hair, and dark brown hair. I don't want to grow it out or dye it blonde. It's dyed green, fading to yellow-green. And it could jack up my hair so I choose to dye my hair darker colors and not lighter colors but I do really wanna dye it blue.
I’ll never get when these “beauty gurus” tell people to remove their glasses. Like bruh, I’d be blind without them and they are too strong to get as contacts. I swear these people have never met someone who has glasses irl or think it’s a fashion statement bruhhh
I'm so happy someone covered this, it's literally problematic to reconstruct someone's face and then saying it's "easy to achieve". But it's not. People have different types of skin, facial features and structures, so it's so weird to do this.
I was on accutane. It was horrible, it cleared up my acne for sure but my skin the entire time I was on it(everywhere but my face) was a mess. I had really bad cracking and bleeding eczema, my asthma got worse over that time, I had really bad and worsening anxiety. Even after that my skin, that hasn’t suffered eczema since I was a baby still has issues as well as almost zero tolerance for sun. I am a quarter japanese and used to tan super easily, almost never got burned; last time I went to Hawaii with my family I had sun poisoning for half the trip. I also somehow developed an allergy to almost all sunscreen except for cerave. DONT go on accutane unless you are REALLY prepared for the side effects.
Real. Like, my experience with accutane wasn’t nearly as bad as yours, but I still got nosebleeds all the time, and my lips were dry and cracked constantly. It suuuucked
i absolutely hate this tiktok person i blocked them IMMEDIATELY. i was hospitalized for bulimia nervosa and that is exactly how you give people body dysmorphia, it’s not advice it’s straight up bullying
I'm someone who has embraced my natural face and stopped wearing makeup and if someone took my photo and put contour and concealer on it to "glow me up" I think I would commit a crime. There's so much pressure on women to have the same face even if it's unachievable without major alterations. I'm not interested in friendship or relationship with anyone who can't handle a bare face
Social media: ladies stop wearing makeup it's the same as catfishing, it's lying and you're a whore for wearing it Also social media: the only way to look pretty enough is to wear makeup and change what you look like
Same here, other than acne in my late 20s I'm happy with my face and have been for a long time. Wearing make up doesn't make me feel prettier, just different. If I wanted to see how I'd look with contour and concealer I'd just use that myself or go to a specialist for it, not a random person on the internet whose opinion I couldn't care less about. And people don't NEED to "glow up" anyway, it's completely fine to just live our lives (or most of it since there's still special events sometimes) not looking like a supermodel.
I have always had really bad acne, and despite playing around with makeup early in high-school, I never really liked the feeling or the effort it takes so I never wear makeup. I too would fist fight someone who tried to give me a glowup and just facetuned the hell out of my face. I have a feeling this chick would also get rid of my side shave
Oh god I wish, i fucking hate my face. I also hate it with makeup, but less. But same if she did something like that to me I would have a panic attack, my self esteem can’t take it
Watching her makeovers kinda reminds me of those weird disney makeover scenes where the solution to being ugly was to take off your glasses/braces and let your hair down😭
The fact that people even feel the need to go on a medication that causes horrible side effects to get rid of their acne or get life-threatening cosmetic procedures just to fit into a beauty standard is just another sign that we are absolutely failing as a society. (Although I do understand that acne itself can be painful and it’s not always about conforming to societal standards)
Honestly, the girls weren't even ugly before. The fact she even makes the person say they want a glow up with 'brutal honesty' just so she can say they're ugly and make them like a doll... they look so scary after. 💀
the parts where she took girls with beautiful hair and drew yellow all over them infuriated me so much, especially 7:53 where the before hair is so much more pretty and unique
Just as a general rule of thumb: it's almost never _you_ that's unattractive, stuff like fashion and general self care go a long way. Even when you're just feeling more attractive, you're basically all the way there

thank you for the mention about people suggesting accutane like it's some new groundbreaking thing. i've had cystic acne for a decade now, and the amount of people that suggest accutane, clearasil, cerave, you name it... like i've never heard of it before and get mad when i don't grovel at their feet for suggesting a "magical cure-all". i don't really struggle with having acne aesthetically anymore, it's just physically painful, but it's still nice to have someone recognize that it sucks to deal with and it's demeaning when people are constantly trying to "fix" your face and acting like you're stupid or ungrateful when you have your own ideas about it.

As someone who had braces for 6+ years and had another thing before that (don't know the name in english) because I was born with a smaller upper jawbone. Orthodontics aren't just for appearance concerns, most of the time our teeth have to be straighten because it lowers the chances of loosing teeth younger and not having dentures or implants younger. Also our teeth aren't usually very white, they are always somewhat off-white coloured and it's perfectly healthy and natural to have a tint. Some people have whiter teeth naturally but bleaching them fuck up your enamel which can lead to sensitive teeth or increase chances to get cavities. Just brush your teeth and use dental floss or dental picks if you have a wire behind your teeth like I do so you can get it as clean as possible. And if you have the means, go to your dentist once a year to get a tartar removal. All in all, I know orthodontics are really expensive and inaccessible in a lot of country. Even in Switzerland it's expensive af, I was "lucky" enough that my condition was seen as a baby and I was entitled to disability insurance to get it fixed so my parents didn't have to ruin themselves for me to have good teeth. One of my brother has a slightly crroked teeth but the dentist said it won't have any impact on his whole denture so he decided to not do anything and it's perfectly okay. If you have good healthy teeth that allows you to eat anything you need, please just brush and floss and don't screw them with cheap whitening products for aesthetics.
Wow I thought the unsolicited 'Fixing Your Art' videos were the most rude, uncalled for things on the internet but this is just next level lmao the amount of audacity to not only use photos of REAL people's faces, who did not ask for it, making content out of critiquing their appearance without asking for permission (or adequately tagging them at the least), deciding to make your unsolicited feedback 'brutal' instead of kind or compassionate while also inviting your audience to make comments on this stranger's appearance and exposing them to harrassment, using photoshop to make unrealistic/unattainable changes, focusing your advive on things these people are born with and are outside their control or ability to change (hair length/texture, face shape, teeth, skin conditions, body type, race???) all the while positioning your very narrow, eurocentric (and kind of problematic) preferences as THE standard for beauty...the layers of disrespect are astounding lol Their scammy makeover service is somehow the least interesting part of this iceberg

the irony of her “fixing” people’s looks but never showing her own face is gold
The "your face isnt done cooking" is so true. I notice my face change a lot when i was 18, and now at 20 its still changing a bit.
Hopefully that's true for me too T_T
yeah around 25 i noticed how much my faceshape had changed. i lost a lot of the "puppyfat" from my face, and even my nose got slimmer

@cannibaliowa
Not really considering most of them look white.
If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me whether or not I washed my face or told me to drink more water, I'd be able to afford acutane.
yeah, it's like some people were never teenager because it's like they don't understand fhe concept of Acne
When ur in ur mid 20s consider using retinol. I was able to control my acne this way (after suffering for 15 years)

They just use "brutal honestly" to insult you and then play the victim when you get upset or offended

I draw, so I spent a chunk of my time back then drawing the noses of people who said they were insecure of them and showing them how they all are in the grand scheme of things when placed next to each other. i hope this glow up girl isn’t a grown woman because not only does she sound like a teenager but if she’s young that gives her some time to realize how cruel and kinda racist she’s being
Potentially unpopular opinion: Suggesting so many of these girls get blonde hair is ludicrous because if you're not naturally blonde, that color can not only jack up the texture of your hair and make your hair look thinner, but it often makes women look way older than they are.
Exactly!!!
It's pretty popular tbh since Chad Chad herself brought it up, so don't worry about it (:

I mean maybe it was an "act of kindness"? I know it might be wrong since you didn't ask and you're fine with how you look but sometimes people try to be friendly without being very considerate. @@internetperson. I do agree with you up to the part "it doesn't matter what the intentions behind it were." Also its wild that she's obviously the sort of person who thinks makeup is about "fixing imperfections" and not enhancing your features or expressing creativity and that's so cringe. Like I do not own hundreds of dollars worth of eyeshadow pallets because I think I'm ugly and am trying to hide. 😐 If you do that sounds like a personal issue of projection.
If you have good healthy teeth that allows you to eat anything you need, please just brush and floss and don't screw them with cheap whitening products for aesthetics.

the amount of audacity to not only use photos of REAL people's faces, who did not ask for it, making content out of critiquing their appearance without asking for permission (or adequately tagging them at the least), deciding to make your unsolicited feedback 'brutal' instead of kind or compassionate while also inviting your audience to make comments on this stranger's appearance and exposing them to harrassment, using photoshop to make unrealistic/unattainable changes, focusing your advive on things these people are born with and are outside their control or ability to change (hair length/texture, face shape, teeth, skin conditions, body type, race???) all the while positioning your very narrow, eurocentric (and kind of problematic) preferences as THE standard for beauty...the layers of disrespect are astounding lol
