Thank you Ian... 100% on point. If the cancel culture is a real thing then this antisocial phone culture trend is one I wish to cancel. I can almost smell the aroma of your steaks and bread from Australia and BTW... you are not getting old, you are just a respectful member of society. Full support from me. Who else agrees with Ian?
Bless you for addressing this issue, and for enforcing it in your restaurant. I just paid and walked out without finishing my meal because this couple insisted on playing you tube videos on speaker in the restaurant. When I politely asked them to turn it on silent, they gave me a nasty look and ignored me. The restaurant owner asked why I was leaving and looked apologetic but didn’t stop them.. funny thing is they were drinking coffee while I was ordering having an entree. I will never go back there again.
Oh wow..thank you for this..I was beginning to think I was the only person in the world who feels this way...the thing I cannot understand is people who answer their calls on speaker no matter how many people are in the room listening to a conversation I assumed would be private between me and the person I called..what is up with that?..
The Vast majority of people who do that act Entitled, and will react confrontationally if you show any dislike. Roll your eyes and they may complain at You for expressing yourself. Never mind the fact that they were subjecting Everyone to Their rude behavior. You dare dislike it, You're suddenly the asshat... in their feeble minds.
Couldn't agree more with you. You pretty much nailed it on the head. What it all comes to is manners and these people who have their phone on speaker don't have any. They could care less how much it bothers other people. If someone is right beside me using their speakerphone, I usually like to blare something on TH-cam and usually they'll walk away. Or if they're talking loudly in public on their speakerphone, I like to join in on the conversation. I mean if you're on your speakerphone in public, I guess you want everyone to hear your conversation and might as well join in on the conversation.
Just found this video to share to people I know that do this. Also people who uses speaker phone to listen to TH-cam/music in public spaces. Nobody wants to listen to their crap, but some people doesn't have the empathy or even mental capacity to udnerstand that people are annoyed when they do that. Egotistical move.
Then there are the people that listen to youtube videos on level 11. The high pitched treble-heavy screeching reaches across the house... how could they need it that loud, when I can hear it clearly from 3 rooms over! Turn it down just a teensie bit! Then when I ask someone to turn it down a tiny bit, they often shut it down so low they have to strain to hear. Is there no middle ground?
I also boycott restaurants and businesses that have a tv overlong the place broadcasting the news. Like as if people want to pay to experience more negative drama while they’re eating or about to get a root canal at the dentist.
so since the invention of the telephone in 1876 the ear piece was never good so that is the reason some annoy you is with that speaker they can hear better...Don't buy that for a second. even the companies that produce them call it 'a cell phone' not true anymore. its a mobile computer.
Firstly rather its in public or not i believe the other person has the right to know they on speaker ive noticed with ppl i spoken to or was just been around while they was on the 📱 nvr let the person no they was on speaker same with ppl im talking too I remember recently I was talking to a relative and they had me on speaker while they was in the car driving I didnt no i was and i said something that was personal then after being on the 📱 10 mins then i got informed i was on speaker and that sum1 else was in the car i was very upset no1 should be in ear length of ur conversation i feel if u by urself then its fine but when u around ppl its not good u dont no what ppl will say expecially if they dont no that other ppl are present and i feel it is also rude to talk on speaker in public ppl dont want or need to hear ur conversation u at a doctors office in the waiting room etc. you shouldnt be on speaker ur being rude inconsiderate its not right ppl just dont care me personally it upsets me every 1 i talk too has the 📱 on speaker so my advice to ppl is like i do if u dont feel confortable being on speaker like i do tell ppl to take u off u dont have to talk on speaker if u dont feel comfortable doing so and watch wat u say as well.
There should be a list of restaurants that don't allow speaker phones.

Rude doesn’t even begin to explain these people.
