Audi might keep Valtteri Bottas. Might Guenther Steiner be back in F1 @ Audi?
Here's an absolutely insane prediction: Sainz to Andretti. Perhaps first to Indycar (winning the Indy 500), then to F1 when they join.

lawrence just sold a 25 percent stake. if I was sainz I would call aston martin, aramco, and honda, slide a paper with my credentials, and just say that you have a struggling driver, I am a solution to that, and I'm your best hope of getting a championship in 2026.

Sauber couldve definetly waited until mid season to announce this.
This is Audi putting pressure on Sainz.
At this point I think Sainz never actually wanted to go to Audi, he was just using that as a bargaining chip to get a better contract with Ferrari.
    Didn't really work out.

    • @DisamerdScroll

Yeh, Sainz clearly wanted to be at Ferrari for the foreseeable future and now he is probably trying to get in that RB cuz a move to Sauber for 2025 when ur driving a Ferrari in 2024 is such a backwards move and more of a gamble, Nico has nothing to lose meanwhile

Here is the German opinion you requested.
Nico going to Audi is definitely interesting. However, in my opinion due to his age and more importantly because he was the driver to replace Mick Schumacher (admittedly Mick being dropped was not Nico's fault) I just think the excitement for Nico is dampened. Michael Schumacher still has a similar standing for German F1 Fans (especially older ones), that Lewis Hamilton has for British F1 Fans. The name "Schumacher" means Formula 1 in Germany.
It's more of a "German driver for a German Team, that's cool I guess" but not something that really rallies huge amounts of enthusiasm.

Maybe Sainz was patient and wanted to see whether Audi will be new Mercedes or new Toyota before officially signing anything. But this move will definitely put pressure on him.
But, on other hand, Sainz is currently the only high caliber driver that Audi can sign in near future, so maybe his approach is correct.
As for Zhou, I think that this was the reason why he got so emotional in China, he knew that he will never race there again. It's sad, but it is right move.

With Sainz, his manager, Carlos Onoro Sainz, is way more involved with his career than most…he’s front and center at every race…and he’s family, being his cousin.
I get the impression that he is living out his fame and racing fantasies through Carlos, so he sees this as his opportunity to contribute more to their relationship - by taking on the career path passionately. And Carlos is letting him do it…almost at arms length. The father has also been around more, always huddling with COS in the garage as well…so between those two, it appears Carlos has said “I need to focus on winning at Ferrari…you guys handle this career stuff”.
So I put the onous on them for all this uncertainty…look how well Carlos is racing…best I’ve seen in awhile. He seems blissfully happy on the track, because he isn’t sweating all this career stuff. See how Lewis has been adversely affected by the early Ferrari announcement…he sounds so sad on the radio because of not only the performance issue, but I’m sure the cold shoulders he’s getting from the team. Why George has been outperforming him a lot.
Carlos has it easy right now…he knows he’s going somewhere for reasons beyond his control..so just rely on family to fix his future, and knuckle down and show everyone how good he is…
    That’s what I’m thinkin….👍😁

As a German, yes, it makes me personally more excited for an Audi entry. Mercedes never really felt all that German since Lewis joined anymore, especially since 2016 when Rosberg left. I like that they went for a German driver who also deserves to be there on merit and will be a great asset for the team. With Hülkenbergs performances in the Haas it just feels like a match made in heaven.
I was a bit concerned about Audi in the last couple of years, it never really felt like they were 100% in on F1, but now it very much feels that way and I also hope the combination of Audi and Hülkenberg will do something to bring German motorsport forward again, because since Vettel left it feels like we have been regressing, with not a lot of drivers in sight.

@moorhouse9949 Sorry, I really don't get the comparison.
Ollie sounds English and his flag is the UK flag.. so I am pretty sure Bearman is a born and raised Englishman? Why do you suggest he is German?

The reality is AUDI has about a three season road to be a title contender. Any new team will. Carlos can wait, and probably should. Anyone founding an AUDI entry is more likely to have their image tarnished than talents ignited there.

As a German person watching this (I feel quite honoured being addressed directly by you hahah) it does make one proud to see some nice german representation! So Hulkenberg (although he is not that much of a popular athlete over here) partnering up with Audi is a nice thing to see :) but it is not intensely celebrated comparing it to Hamilton moving to Ferrari for example

As a Mexican, I'm so Happy for the Hulk, and I hope we can see him in the future at the podiums , he's a Top Driver, he just needs the right tools like my Boy Checo , well...all of the 19 drivers are Top Dogs, that's why they're there (Stroll doesn't count )

I dont think that Audi/Andreas would have any legitimate reason to be annoyed with Sainz taking his time, they arent stupid and they arent blind and they would presumably have to admit they arent an extraordinarily appealing option for him because at this point he still stands to lose more if things dont go well with the car development at audi than he stands to lose by signing a deal for a year or two at a team further up the grid and with the state of drivers leaving the sport and returning lately it could even be argued that he would lose out less if he sat out a year or two which im sure he doesnt want to do but no matter how good a driver is seeing them at the back of the grid even if just for a year is frustrating but i imagine its more so for the driver who knows they are capable of winning races and that they dont need a golden parachute deal

Nico improved himself while outside the F1, pushing Kev out of his comfort zone. Would be great if Audi could finally give the man a car closer to podium scores, he deserves at least one.

I had the same thoughts with Kevin breathing more easily with Nico's deal. He's been with the team since 2017, and seems more like a team player this year than he has (at least during the races). And I don't think the difference between Kevin and Bottas is great enough that Haas wish to shake things up. Have him mentor Oliver for 1 year and see what the situation is like next year.

    Good!
I'll say it again; I think Nico is a vastly underrated driver because he landed in F1 when the rules handicapped large drivers, and yet in spite of that he always put in a good showing. Here's hoping Audi don't let him down, sadly I expect them to.
Carlos? It will be travesty if he doesn't have a competitive drive next year, but with much regret I expect he won't have a drive at all.

German here. I actually think that Nico is not such a big deal here. A lot more people care about Mick or Seb. This might be unfair but Nico was kinda always viewed as one of the many okay-ish to pretty good drivers that came into the sport in the 2000s and early 2010s like Sutil, Glock or Heidfeld. So he was never really the focus of our attention.

The expectations of Audi during their early days are on the border of insanity. I honestly think this is a bad move for Hulkenberg. We saw with Honda and Red Bull etc how long it actually took to develope a complete front running car.

  • @mattdivoooo
    @mattdivoooo 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

What I would love to see. Newey goes to Ferrari, essentially makes a car on par with redbull. Redbull will now need a driver that will get the most out of their car instead of a complacent driver. So redbull picks up Sainz. Max and lewis are finally back in equal cars and we can finally put the debate to rest and get an insane season of driving. Also would love to see sainz remain in a top car. I know it's early in the season, but I really think the guy deserves it.

Saying that Sainz would become the team leader at Audi if he joins is kinda delusional tbh. People are really massively overrating Sainz in general nowadays.
Hülk and Sainz were literally teammates in 2018 and Hülkenberg outscored him, won the race and quali h2h and had about a 1.5 tenth average quali and race pace advantage over Sainz.
If they become teammates from next year onwoards I highly doubt that Sainz will easily beat Hülk in the coming years.

German here: Nico going to Audi kinda secured my support for them? But to be honest I never really support specific teams I just like specific drivers no matter which team has them contracted so instead of cheering Audi I will still cheer for Nico and now hoping for a F1 Podium or even a Win with Audi definetly is on the F1 Bingo in 2026

As a German I have to be honest and say that it does not really bother me!
I have never understood the thinking of supporting a driver that's from the same country as yourself, I find it too patriotic but hey, that's just my view on the matter. Nico has always been fine and I don't have anything against him, he is quite amusing in terms of personality. Him joining Audi only makes sense and I am looking forward to seeing what Audi can accomplish in F1 mainly due to WEC a few years ago and also that F1 is new territory for them so I am curious how that will pan out. And with Nico on board I'm also curious to see how much he will be able to extract out of the car! So it's something I am interested in but nothing blowing me out of my shoes! ^^
