    I was there today... we just stumbled upon it. It has not been cut in some time. The backside.of the camping area looks like they had spaces with electric but it has not been cut or maintained this year. It is still free as of 5/20/2023. Only a couple of tent campers.

    That view is stunning. It is a beautiful campground but I seriously doubt if Fred or I will go tent camping again but never say never, LOL. Hmmm, if a car top camper camped there perhaps we could get away with our truck camper. 😉That was a lot of empty campsites. We saw those ear buds in Scotts ears and we were surprised he heard you. LOL Mary 💕 Fred

      I don't see any issue with a truck camper at this campground. I believe the RV restriction was put in place because of the potential for property damage caused by long, low profile RVs crossing the railroad tracks. Lou

      @@LivingOurDreamNow thinking of putting that on our list for truck camping trips for sure. Thank you for sharing.

    Looks good thanks for sharing I love going to new river area have not really camped there yet though...also do you have a video or have to ever gone to the cranberry camp ground in WV?

    • @LivingOurDreamNow
      @LivingOurDreamNow  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes - I have been to the Cranberry Campground in the Monongahalia National Forest. It is a a great place to explore the Cranberry Backcountry and there are trails that depart from the campground. Cell service is poor here. I have not made a video. We did not have our TH-cam channel during the time of our visit. Lou

    I love the shadows of the clouds. When you're talking at the beginning it almost looks like two people talking to each other. Looks like a very nice campground. I would say it would not be free. If anything they would charge a $2 fee that the government would keep well. Lol

    What an amazing find, just added this to my camping map for our trip out that way next year. We loved our trip in 2020 to the NP and were at that same Grand Overlook. We did the hiking trails right from there as well. Great video to end the year with. Thanks Scott and Lou UPDATE: just saw the end about needing reservations and no RVs... Well thats a kick in the jewels... Still loved the video.

      Not all of the free campgrounds in New River Gorge National Park are converting to Recreation.gov reservations. Be sure to check the National Park website for the latest information on the respective campground. Lou

    Lol, thanks Lou! I DID enjoy the video, all the way up until the end when you said that RV's don't appear to be permitted there ! 😆 That's a bummer because since we are so close, it was going to be a summer destination next year for us to the New River NP. I'm guessing Army Campground and Grandview Sandbar campgrounds are going to go with the same changes for 2023? I'll have to look into it next Spring. Thanks for the video though! I'm leaving next week for Arizona for the winter and plan to stay in some of your showcased spots! Keep em coming!

      Check the latest announcement on the New River Gorge National Park Website. It appears the NPS reversed course and this campground will remain first come, first-served and free. Lou

    That is a lot of lawn to mow. Sure is a beautiful setting. Pretty crazy to think this is inside a National Park and there is hardly anyone there. Angie and I have considered the purchase of a Roof Top Tent and putting it on our truck. This would be a great place to put that to use. Thanks for sharing Lou. Safe Travels and Merry Christmas to you and Melony.

    Hey Lou.... Is RV Camping permissible there or is it only tents? Would something as large as a 38 foot Skoolie fit down those roads and be able to cross the tracks??
