Macho Man is a baffling case in retrospect. He should have been doing what Orton is doing now. A guy who is perpetually at the top of the card who can lead quality matches.
Randy Savage got shifted to commentary, because Vince believed he was too old to continue wrestling. That's why Savage was booked to lose that retirement match to the Ultimate Warrior.

A WM9 Savage vs Hart title match would have been 100 times better than what we got.

Bray Wyatt wasn’t even in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal he only got in the ring to help Matt Hardy win the match
Zack Ryder winning the IC Title in a ladder match at Maina 32 only to lose it 24 hours later
This is not a fall from grace from Mania to another day, it's from one Mania to the very next Mania. Like, a yearly performance review. But yeah, I don't remember what Ryder was even doing during Mania 33 weekend. So you have a point.

This year the opposite happened where Miz, who last year got booked to get beat by Shane, and ended up losing to Snoop Dogg(less embarassing, but still) got the tag titles this year

I feel like Macho Man would've stayed with WWE if he hadn't been relegated to commentary. That being said, Macho Man's short stint on commentary was great, and I loved him. I wish I could've heard his commentary during the Attitude Era, that would have been fun.
The sad truth is that considering how he was horribly used in WCW, he really would have been better off as a commentator in WWE. Who knows? We could have had a Macho Man vs. Stone Cold or The Rock match.

@@The_Wrestling-Horror_collector But half of those reigns lasted a day while the other 2 barely lasted a month. He could have had runs with the US title or TV title and helped elevate mid-carders (Eddie, Jericho, etc) via solid runs, but WCW didn't even do that.
@The_Wrestling-Horror_collector Those reigns were rather short. One of the reigns ended when Elizabeth TURNED on him. And his last title reign literally ended the very next night when he lost it to... I mean, who else but Hogan.

Gonna point out that's not the usual pic of Bret being held up at Mania 10, because the one I usually see has Lex looking up at Bret with this "Man, why isn't that me?" look on his face
Bret & Lex could've had a feud over the WWE title, but noooo, despite booking a babyface champion vs babyface champion "Winner Takes All" in the WrestleMania 6 main event between The Ultimate Warrior & Hulk Hogan. Vince could've booked a babyface champion vs babyface challenger between Bret Hart & Lex Luger on a future Monday Night Raw episode in 1994 or a pay-per-view.
Poor Bundy, one year he had all the luck in the world, the next that same luck was in very short supply

to be fair, bret didn't fare much better from 10 to 11, because 11 was what he considered his worst match ever against bob backlund
And in 12, he was in the Main Event again.
His worst match was against Vince MacMahon. Or almost his entire WCW run.

The list really should be titled Greatest Vince Mania Downgrades. He is fully responsible. Savage was always against being put on commentary for no reason.
Hate vince for seeing macho as too old, he was still great in ring and hugely over with the fans

I understand how popular Hogan was at the time, but I think Bundy should've won at Wrestlemania II. Would've finally given Heenan a world champion (without cheating, Andre doesn't count lol), and Hogan's pursuit of Bundy to get the belt back would've been a great story.
Yeah Batista must hsve been super miffed at Mania 24, his 2007 was an absolute banger
They made Randy Savage do catering jobs in both Wrestlemainas 9 and 10.

Becky Lynch from 34 to 35. Eliminated from a pre-show battle royal at 34, winning both World Titles in THE MAIN EVENT at 35.
Miz deserved more.

Daniel Bryan and Edge went from main eventing Wrestlemania to a Bingo Hall audience.
It should have been Randy Savage vs Shawn Michaels at WM 9 for the Intercontinental title and have Sherri in his corner.
No disrespect to Backlund, because his heel run was great and I think they could've ran longer with him as champion than beating Bret and then losing to Diesel 3 days later. But that Backlund was 3 years older than Savage at the time yet Savage was deemed "too old", then Vince brought back Roddy Piper, Jake Roberts, etc. over the next couple years anyway shows how petty Vince could be.
It is kind of funny how the 3 WrestleMania X headliners (Bret, Luger and Yokozuna) would all be in the opening match in consecutive years, Bret at X, Luger at XI and Yoko at XII.
There is no such thing as “one of the main events” because there is technically only one main event which is the final match.
You can have as many co-main events as you want, it's more about how you bill them

Still mad that Brock wouldn't allow Ambrose and himself go crazy for a No Holds Barred match. Like wtf Brock? You killed the damn streak at Mania 30! Also Ambrose should've been in the Main event of Mania 32 and should've won the 2016 Royal Rumble thank god they did right by him by him winning MITB in 2016 and later that night winning the World Title
According to Bruce Prichard, Randy wanted to step back from in-ring work and had actually wanted to be on commentary.

The Blu Brothers were Ron and Don Harris. They wrestled in WCW under their own name (as the Harris Twins) after this and then returned to WWF with shaved heads as Eightball and Skull (the Disciples of the Apocalypse).

Well,... at least _The "Macho Man" Randy Savage_ was still able to avoid having to wrestle an actual match during _"Wrestlemania IX[WM‐9]"; which was a _COMPLETE_ and _UTTER CLUSTER-FUCK_ btw; that is somehow still had permission to bare the iconic _"Wrestlemania"_ name, logo, and likeness.
Savage shouldve faced Ramon. Ramon was inserted into the Flair/Savage feud but to my knowledge Savage/Ramon never had a televised match- they had a dark match. Ramon/Savage wouldve been much better than Ramon/Backlund. Ramon wasnt a face yet. I know WWF wanted to go younger but not sure why they passed on a Ramon/Savage feud when Savage later had a feud with Crush

Honorable mentions:
Brock Lesnar WM 39 - Went from world title unification to just getting Omos on the card
Bianca Belair WM 40 - went from three straight WM women’s title matches to being an afterthought of a 6 woman tag match that was all about Jade Cargill
Stone Cold - WM 18 went from main eventing the WM that was the turning point of pro wrestling popularity to working with Scott Hall who was unreliable
That match with Scott Hall was the beginning of the end for Stone Cold as an active wrestler. Going into that match, he was dissatisfied with the creative direction of his character. The last straw for him was when they wanted him to put over Brock Lesnar in a throwaway match on free television. Austin was willing to put over Brock but wanted to do it on a pay per view with a proper build to the match.
Lex should have won at X and then lost in the main event against Bret.
Man it's sad how that Batista and Umaga match at Mania 24 happened 😢. That whole match the crowd was legit dead for both sides. There was barely any good reactions. And the match itself was long and slow.

Every WrestleMania that ends in 0 sees a vanilla midget given the World Title,
Only for it to not amount to anything ratings wise.
Bret Hart + WrestleMania X = Low ratings.
Chris Benoit + Eddie Guerrero + WrestleMania XX = Low ratings.
Daniel Bryan + WrestleMania XXX = Really low ratings (i.e. the massive ratings decline).
And finally,
Cody Rhodes + WrestleMania XL = Possible low ratings (not that anyone's really watching anyway).
Point being:
Vanilla midgets don't draw...
